“We can’t say for now, as that has not been concluded yet. But what we do know is that Anna might have been killed by someone who she mutually had s*x with.” Tunde stated.
“I knew it! I knew something was suspicious about that guy. OMG Anna didn’t deserve that.” Cindy cried.
“Yeah, no one does.” I said.
“That would be all for now. We’ll contact you whenever we need more clarity.” Tunde stated, then we bid them goodbye and left the house.
We went to Ikoyi gym and asked the manager to show us the CCTV footage of the gym, so we could check who she interacted with at the gym. But unfortunately, the footage had been tampered with.
By the time we left the gym, it was already late. So, we went back to the station and reported to the chief.
I checked my phone and I saw that Owen had called me a million times. I was too busy, trying to look for who the murderer was, that I forgot to check my phone the whole day.
I dialed his number and he picked up on first ring.
“Hazel where did you keep your phone? I’ve been calling you since morning but no response. I was mad worried.” Owen said, he sounded worried.
“Sorry love, I have been so busy with work.” I apologized.
“But you should have left me a message at least. Communicate with me so that I’ll know you’re fine.” He said.
“I’ll do that next time.” I assured him.
“Okay. So, are you at home now?” He asked.
“No, but I am going home now.” I responded.
“Can I come and see you tonight? I miss you already.” He said.
His words made me blush so hard. I said, in my head. ‘I miss you too.’ But all I could manage to utter was “sure.” And we ended the call afterwards.
I packed my things and made my way home. The traffic was not much, so I was able to reach home in no time.
When I got to my house, I noticed that my door was not locked. I was sure I locked it before going out. so, I got so scared and a lot of things started racing through my mind.
‘Is it a thief? Have my properties been stolen? What if there’s a serial killer inside my house?’ I thought.
I couldn’t stop wondering. So, I decided to walk inside the house slowly to find out if anything was missing.
Just as I entered, I was surprised to see my ex- John, sitting on the floor, drunk!
“John what are you doing here?” I yelled.
“What? I can’t come to my woman’s house?” He slurred.
“Who is your woman? I broke up with you months ago, you fool.” I reminded him.
“But I want you right now.” He cried.
I looked at him in disbelief, then walked to where he was seated and grabbed his hand in attempt to raise him up and kick him out of my house.
But things took turns when he grabbed my hand and pulled me down.
“Hazel, please. I am sorry.” He said and pinned my hands down to the floor. He was on-top of me.
“Please get off me.” I begged and tried to push him off me but I couldn’t, he was stronger.
“Please take me back.” He begged.
“No!” I yelled and continued struggling to get him off me.
After a few seconds of struggling, I suddenly felt his weight lifted up from my body. It took me few seconds to fathom what was happening, as I was still in shock.
I looked up to see Owen holding him by his collar.
“What were you trying to do?” Owen yelled, then he threw a befitting punch at his face which made him crash on the floor.
Owen turned to look at me, worry overtook his face when he asked. “Babe are you okay?”
I was still in shock, so all I could manage to do was nod my head.
He came closer and hugged me, then he started patting my back in attempt to comfort me. I wondered what would have happened, if Owen had not come to my rescue.
“Thank you for coming at the right time. Thank you for saving me.” I said, but it came out as a whisper.
“it’s okay baby.” He said.
We both turned to look at John and to our greatest surprise, he was already fast asleep.
“What are we going to do with him now?” He said and shook his head.
He stood up and walked to where he was sleeping. He carried him in his arms and walked out of the house with him. Shortly after, he came back without John.
“Where did you drop him?” I asked.
“Just outside. He deserves whatever is going to happen to him outside there.” He said, then came over to me and continued. “Please explain everything that happened to me. Who the f**k is he?”
“My ex, the one that dumped me the day we met.” I said.
I stood up, walked inside the bedroom and sat on the bed. Owen followed me and sat on the bed with me, then he tried to comfort me by gently squeezing my shoulder. I looked at him and forced a little smile.
“When I came back home, I noticed that the door was open, so I entered and found him sitting on the floor, drunk. I tried to push him out but he was stronger, then he pinned me down. That was when you came in and saved me.” I explained.
“I am so sorry babe, but how did he get inside the house?” he asked.
“He probably still has the spare key I gave to him while we were together.” I said.
“We are changing your lock tomorrow babe.” He said, then came closer and hugged me.
