Caleb
I was so uneasy just sitting around in the hotel room waiting for everyone to get back in touch with me or to come to the hotel and meet up with me to help me out, hopefully. Then, just as I was sitting around on the bed, my phone started to ring.
“Hello,” I answered.
“Logan, it’s Jacob. I couldn’t talk earlier. I was in the middle of something.” He said.
“It’s alright. I was looking for some information on a friend of mine,” I told him.
“Ok, I’ll see what I can do mate, what's happening?” Jacob questioned.
“It’s a woman called Scarlett, she is with me, but because of all my mistakes, she has been taken by the gang.”
“Ohh, I know exactly who you are talking about. The boys brought her in a few days ago, but I haven’t seen or heard much as I have had other jobs to do,” Jacob said
“If you could, can you try to find out some information for me, like if she is ok and where she is?” I asked.
“Yes, I will see what I can do,” he said, “Are you in London?”
“I am, and I am not leaving until I have her back,” I said firmly.
I hope he can find something, anything. I need to know she is OK!
“I will get right on it and get back to you as soon as possible,” he said, “And I wanna see you while you are in London,” he adds.
“Thank you. And yes, once I get my girl back, we can meet, but somewhere out of the way,” I state.
“When I go in later today, I will see if I can get in on the job with the others that are watching her,” Jacob told me.
“That would be amazing, thanks,” I said.
“I’ll check in with you later, buddy,” Jacob said.
“Before you go, you don’t happen to have a contact number for Charlene, do you?” I asked.
“Yes, I do, I will send it to you, but I’m not sure that she is the best person to contact as she is quite deep with them just now,” Jacob said.
“Cheers, mate. I will think about it before I do anything. Speak to you later.” I said before hanging up.
The last time I saw Charlene, she wanted nothing to do with them, but it would seem that has changed. Maybe I shouldn’t contact her. I have Max coming soon, and I am sure he can tell me more than anyone else without putting anyone or myself at risk.
I just need to know Scarlett is OK, well, as OK as she could be. I don’t even want to imagine what they are doing to her. I need a damn drink! I called down to room service, ordering a drink and some snacks for myself. I don’t want to drink too much. I need to be on top form, but one will help calm my nerves.
After waiting about ten minutes just sitting staring into the abyss, my room door chapped.
“Room service.” A male voice shouted through my door.
“Leave it outside,” I yelled back as I began walking over to the door.
I stood at the back of the door, just waiting to make sure the man was away. I unlocked the door, and as I began opening it, I caught the sight of a foot next to my tray. As I started looking up the person's body, I realised it was Max standing there.
“How on earth did you find me? I never told you the room I was in.” I said, shocked.
“I can find out anything I put my mind to,” Max grinned at me as he leaned down to pick up my tray.
I opened the door wider and let Max come into my room. I can’t believe the things this guy can find out. I closed the door behind him.
“It has been a long time, buddy,” I said.
“Yes, yes, it has been,” he agrees.
We share a “man” hug for a moment, and I take my drink, downing it and sitting on the bed.
“What has been going on?” he asks, sitting with me.
And I started from the beginning, telling him everything. I was done with lying to people! I want to get Scarlett, get out of here and start afresh. Max looked so shocked when I was telling him everything that has been happening.
“s**t Logan, I wish you had told me sooner,” Max said.
“Honestly, buddy, me too.” I said, “I’m just happy I still have you.”
“Of course, mate, we go way back” Max grinned at me.
“I’m going to get myself another drink. Do you want something?” I asked him.
“Yes, get me a beer, please, mate,” Max replied.
I called back down to room service and ordered us both a beer, we are going to need it whilst we try and work out how I’m going to find Scarlett.
“Give me her number,” he said
“They would have ditched it,” I said.
“I know, but I can hack into it, see where she last was, see if there are any numbers related to the people involved, and we can track them, well we can try,” he said, “If that doesn’t work then I can hack into street cameras and whatnot,”
“I will try anything,” I said.
I just sat watching Max typing away on his laptop, and then he was on his phone doing stuff as well. When he finished on one device, he was on another. I feel so helpless right now as there is nothing I will be able to do to help him. Just as I was sitting watching Max type away, my phone started to ring.
“I need to get this,” I told Max.
“Sure thing.” He said without taking his eyes off his screen.
It was Nate’s number that was flashing on my screen. His dad must have some information by now about where she is and what they will do to help get her back safely. How they tracked my burner phone, I don’t know. Then again, his dad can do probably anything.
“Hello Nate, what’s happening? I asked.
“What the f**k, Caleb! Where are you? We have been trying to reach you, and your phone was off, luckily we found this one,” he said.
I could tell by his voice he was worried about me.
“London,” I state simply.
“Yes, we worked that out, but where in London?” he asked.
“First, does your dad have any word on Scarlett?” I asked.
“She is hurt but alive,” he said, “And we have a location,” he adds.
“Where is she?” I questioned.
“You tell me where you are, first,” he states.
“I’m staying in an expensive hotel in the middle of London. I chose somewhere no one would think of looking for me,” I told him.
“If you're not going to tell me whereabouts, you are at least text me the name of the hotel so we can come to you,” Nate said.
“I will send you the details, I do have a friend here just now trying to get information on where she is, but help from you and your dad would be great,” I told him.
“You know we are here to help. We will come to where you are and fill you in on details and what my dad’s team has got planned.” He told me.
“If I find something before you get here, then I am going to get her,” I state firmly.
“Caleb, please stay put. We will be there in less than an hour,” he sighs.
“I need to get her back, and if I have the chance to do that before you arrived, I am taking it,”
I hung up after I said it.
“Who was that?” Max asked with a cautious look in the eyes.
“It is my friend from Scotland called Nate. His dad is trying to help find Scarlett.” I told him.
“Are they coming by here to meet up with you?” Max asked as he continued typing away on his laptop.
“Yes, well, unless I find her first, then I will just be going alone,” I said.
I don’t want to do this alone. I could really do with all the backup I can get my hands on. I don’t know how many people I will be up against, and the gang has quite a lot of members, and some of them are really tough.
“You should wait. You can’t do this alone,” Max said.
“I will do what needs to be done,” I state.
“You are no use if you are dead,” he said, shaking his head.
He does have a point. What can I do if I am dead? I can wait until they get here, but if I find out she is close by, then I am going. One way or another, I will make sure Scarlett was safe and away from those bastards!
