No One’s P.O.V.
“What is it?” Roman Summers, the chairman of the Summers Groups, asked his chauffeur when he noticed his stolen gazes through the rear mirror. “Uhhh…. It… it’s nothing, Mr. Summers,” he immediately answered him while stuttering a little.
“Say what you want to say. You don’t have to fear,” Roman Summers tried to ease him up. He hired Robin, his chauffeur, two years ago after the death of his old chauffeur due to illness. As his uncle, Robin was also loyal and trustworthy. He was not nosy and never poked his nose where he shouldn’t.
Robin nodded to him while looking at the road. Roman had some urgent work in their branch office and that was why, they came there on Saturday. “I… I saw some people with one of the secretaries of Walton Inc., outside the parking lot, Mr. Summers,” he told him truthfully.
“So… they may be his friends,” Roman replied to him nonchalantly. Robin immediately shook his negatively. “No, Mr. Summers…. They were not. He was very respectful towards one of them, and it seemed that he picked them up from the airport earlier,” he continued telling him what he saw there. Robin observed them keenly after Avery and Alex left the place after parking the car in the alley to join others in the restaurant.
“I took a photo of that group,” he continued, and he glanced at Roman through the mirror. Roman scoffed and looked out of the window. “You are being so nosy today, Robin,” Roman scolded him in a light tone and looked outside the window. “No, Mr. Summers… this is not it… one of them felt very familiar, but I couldn’t remember where I have seen her,” Robin immediately replied to him hurriedly while shaking his head negatively.
Robin stopped the car on the signal. “Here…. you can see their photo." Robin immediately moved his phone towards him to prove that he was not nosy. Roman knew their whole family as not only his uncle, but his grandfather too worked for Summers. Roman frowned and shrank his nose in annoyance but took his phone. Robin was in his forties and he knew his character very well.
He glanced at the photo and clicked his tongue. “They are a bunch of young people, Roman. They can be his friends. Today is Saturday, and it’s common for young people to go out with their friends,” Roman said while giving the phone back to Robin.
“Please look at the second girl from right, Mr. Summers. Her face was very familiar,” Robin insisted, making Roman more annoyed. He was about to say something when the girl caught his attention. He immediately looked back at the photo and narrowed his eyes. His heart skipped a beat when he also found something strange about that girl.
“Send me this photo, Robin,” he instructed Robin while giving his phone back to him. “Okay, Mr. Summers,” he affirmed his instruction and took his phone. The signal turned red and he immediately drove the car. Roman was a bit impatient right now, but there was nothing that he could do right now.
He picked up his phone from the seat beside him and dialed his son’s number. He waited for him to pick up the phone while looking out of the window. His heart was still disturbed when he recalled the photo.
“Yes, dad?” Dave Summers answered the call after the fifth bell. “Did Sebastian hired someone from another state?” Roman asked him in a hurried tone. “I… I don’t know about that, Dad…. What happened?” Dave answered him but asked him with concern.
“I am sending you a photo…. Take a look and try to find out who these people are. Especially the second girl from right,” Roman instructed him in the same tone. At the same time, he received the photo from Robin. “Sent, Mr. Summers,” Robin told him in a low tone. “Dad….it doesn’t matter how many people he hired. He is destined to be doomed,” Dave said in a stern tone this time.
“Just inquire about that girl, Dave,” Roman said annoyingly, and before Dave could say anything, he hung up. “Useless,” he muttered under his breath but sent the photo to Dave.
Roman looked at the photo once again and stared at the very familiar face but somehow strange. He could say that she was not someone he knew, but she felt so similar to her. The smile on his lips also made his heart flutter at one point. He felt heaviness in his chest, but he ignored that while staring at that photo. She was not her. Still, he wanted to know who that girl was and what her relationship was with Sebastian.
It had been five years….. for five years they had been searching for someone very dear to them. She was like their lifeline but she left them five years ago. Both Roman and Dave had turned the whole world upside down while looking for her but couldn’t find her. This was the first time that they found someone so similar to her. He knew that he was invading the privacy of a girl but he wanted to know everything about that girl. He knew that he could be disappointed in the end, but still wanted to give it a shot.
Dave’s P.O.V.
I stared at the photo sent by my father, dumbfounded. For a few seconds, I forgot to breathe when I saw that specific girl in the photo. She… she was not her but she was so similar to her. I wanted to deny that this girl was her, yet I wanted to know everything.
I knew that Sebastian had managed to strike collaboration with Hawkins Inc. from Carolina. It was far from New York. That girl might be Carolina. I didn’t want to hold any hopes, but I still I wanted to know about that girl. I sent that photo to my PA and then called him after that. I was in the study of our mansion as it was the weekend.
“I have sent you a photo. These people are the ones whom Sebastian hired from Carolina. Try to find out all the information about the second girl from right as soon as possible,” I instructed Paul in a calm tone. “Okay, Mr. Summers. Give me two days. I will report to you on Monday,” he answered me in a calm and respectful tone. I hung up without saying anything.
My mind was now a mess. Her face was different, but those eyes were very similar. They were not as lively as I used to see them, but they were similar. Even that faint smile on her lips felt so familiar. I looked at the photo on the window screen of my laptop. Her eyes were the most beautiful and charming. In the photo, she was laughing wholeheartedly. The sparks and mischief in her eyes were clearly evident.
“Where are you angel? Why did you leave me? What did I do wrong that you left me just like that?” I asked her in a very low tone once again. I didn’t know how many times I had asked that same question to him in the past five years, but I never got the answer. Sometimes, I felt that her laughter was nothing but mocking, as if she were saying that I was the one responsible for her heartbreak and doom.
Yeah… I was useless that I wasn’t able to save her from heartbreak at that time. Everything happened so suddenly, startling all of us, and before we could understand what exactly happened, she disappeared. I made the wrong decision, and she paid the price for that. I patted my chest lightly when I felt it stuffy once again.
“No matter how much more time it will take, angel…. But I will find you one day,” I said again in a resolute tone. I closed my eyes and leaned my head at the top of the backrest of my chair. I didn’t know what I was going to do if this girl was really her. I was tempted to go and see this girl in person but I was scared at the same time. I was scared of being disappointed once again.
I opened my eyes once again after some time and straightened my neck. I picked up the file with the information from Hawkins Inc. In the past five years, I gave a hard time to Walton Inc. and snatched so many projects to punish them and to vent my anger. It was still not enough for me. I let him win this collaboration because I wanted him to stay in the business so that I could torment him for a long time.
I flipped the pages while reading the information that Paul collected about the CEO of Hawkins Inc., Mr. Marcus Hawkins. I narrowed my eyes when I found something strange about his family. He had only one daughter in his family. She was very sick until five years ago and recovered miraculously after that time. His daughter was also a good designer, but there was no photo of her in the file. Mr. Hawkins managed to conceal her identity very well.
But no matter how sharp he was, if I wanted to know about this girl, I would find a way. I once again picked up my phone and looked at the photo. I felt that I knew her, yet she was a stranger to me. “You better pray that you are not her, girl, or else I don’t know what I will do to you,” I muttered angrily this time. For the past five years, I have been living like a zombie. Every day, I did everything mechanically as if I had lost my soul with her.
Yes, I was still angry with her for leaving me alone. I knew what I did wrong, but it was not the punishment that I got for my wrongdoings. I looked at the laptop screen once again. “Come back, angel…. Please come back to me. I… I promise th… that I will do everything to make up for my mistake,” I pleaded to her in my heart. Why is she so heartless now? Didn’t she remember us?
