Chapter 2Oregon Dustin McPherson wakes to a searing pain in his head, and his sheets soaked in sweat. He reaches out to his bedside cabinet and switches his lamp on. Bright light flood the room, hurting his eyes. “f**k,” Dustin grumbles, rubbing his eyes with his fists. When the black spots stop dancing in front of his vision he looks at his alarm clock—five a.m. Dustin groans and punches his pillow. For a moment, he doesn’t know what woke him up so suddenly, what has his skin slick with sweat, his heart racing, his sheets tangled around his legs. Then it starts to come back to him: the girl.
