Chapter 14
"Katie?" dad asks when I come through the front door. "What are you doing home? The dance just started."
When he gets a good look at me, his face contorts in anger. "What did he do?! I swear to God I'll-"
"No, it wasn't Logan. It was nothing. I'm just..." I look around, trying to buy some time to make up something believable. "It was my period. I got my stupid period. And now I have to go up to my room and change," I tell him, walking backwards up the stairs.
"Liar," he says, standing at the bottom of the stairs and crossing his arms over his chest. "You've been looking forward to this dance all week. Tell me what really happened."
I sigh and sit down on the staircase. "Taylor Brooks humiliated me in front of the entire school. Suddenly, she thinks I'm a threat to her."
