Chapter 3
Thor stood at the rail with Edgar as they watched the gangplank being raised. The heavy mooring lines were cast off and coiled on the deck.
As the ship eased back out of the slip, Edgar pointed to the docks. “Are any of those men pirates?”
Thor turned to look at him. “Why do you ask that?” he queried, a conversation from the previous night with Miguel coming to mind.
Edgar explained. “After dinner in the captain’s cabin, Captain Allison, Mr. Adams, and Mr. Brewster were talking. They said something about pirates. I could not catch all they said; they were speaking very softly.”
Thor and Miguel had also talked of pirates the night before. They had also made love. But Thor could tell Miguel had been distracted.
