Arielle's POV
“Who are they?” Sarah rushed towards me, looking excited.
A blush was spread on my face as I covered the mark on my neck.
“It is nothing, Sarah. We should get ready for school.” I stood up to my feet and headed into my room.
I wanted to skip school today because of the incident that happened yesterday. I knew I was still going to be pointed at and the student might even hurt me again, but I guess it is not the same anymore. Those brothers were my mates and they were going to protect me.
They said clearly that no one was allowed within my vicinity, so maybe I will become popular now. I brought out my tattered clothes and cringed, but I didn’t have a choice so I slipped into them.
“Arielle, there was this hamper waiting for you at the door of the house,” Sarah announced as she brought in a hamper that was filled with dresses and clothes.
I squealed as I brought them out, and there were fresh and new clothes. I couldn’t remember the last time I had new clothes. I stripped down and wore the new ones, then twirled in front of the mirror, and for the first time in years, I felt happy and beautiful.
“I can’t wait to meet them.” Talia squealed, and I agreed with her.
I passed Sarah some of my clothes to wear too. She was still in high school where the bullies are worse, so she needed it more than me. After I was done getting ready, we both headed out of my house. We parted ways and I headed to school today with my head held up high. For the first time, I didn’t feel terrified of meeting Alisha.
~
After my classes, I headed down to the cafeteria to eat. It was the first time I wasn’t eating lunch in the bathroom and I was so nervous. I held my tray in the line and I could hear how people were whispering about me. After I got my lunch, I turned around to leave when someone bumped into me, making me spill my food on my clothes.
I raised my head to see what it was, and I wasn’t entirely shocked to see Alisha standing in front of me.
“What the hell, Alisha?” I yelled, attracting the attention of people in the cafeteria.
“Oops. Did I spoil the princess’s new dress?” She smirked, twirling her hair in her fingers.
My lips were quivering as I looked around, waiting for my mates to arrive.
“Who are you looking out for?” She asked. “No one is coming to save you, dumbass.” She grabbed my hair and I thought she was going to fling me down to her feet again but instead, she stopped.
“Oh my God, Arielle. Who the f**k marked you?”
I realized then that my mark was showing, and she just announced it to the whole school. I prayed for my life to be taken away at that moment because I couldn’t stand the embarrassment.
“Let me go Alisha. You have done enough.” I voiced out under my breath, but she didn’t stop.
Just then, I picked up a scent coming from the side of the cafeteria. I shifted my gaze to it and then I saw my mates coming towards me. I let out a sigh of relief, thinking they were going to save me from her. When they got in front of us, they glanced down at the food tray that slid down my clothes, creating an ugly and disgusting streak.
“Who is this disgusting thing?” Derek scoffed.
My breath hitched and my lips parted into a gape. What did he mean by that?
“She is Alisha. The school’s poorest Omega.” She replied to them, her tone softening. Talia growled in jealousy.
“Is she your punching bag too? I would like to get my hands bloody. It has been too long.” The one I recognized to be Enzo spoke up.
“That will end up with you having a suspension. Just treat her like trash and make sure she never thinks of herself like a normal person.” She pushed me down to the floor and a yelp escaped my lips as my hip bone meets the hard floor.
“Don’t worry,” the one that didn’t speak, and was just staring me down since they came in said. “I know how to take care of a lowly Omega.”
“Good,” Alisha smirked. She collected her food tray that was in the hands of one of her minions, then picked up her drink and poured it down on my hair.
I cried out as the cold liquid trickled down my back. Tears were now falling freely from my eyes as I heard the laughter in the cafeteria. I was a fool to think today would be different. My mates were assholes, and not even wearing nice clothes could make my bullies nicer to me.
I got up to my feet and rushed out of the cafeteria with my head hung low.
“Arielle, wait.” I heard one of my mates say, and I had the strong urge to turn around and slap him.
They couldn’t just come into my home and convince me that they cared about me and even mark me, then turn around and join my bullies in bullying me. I headed to the bleachers and got into one of my secret hiding spots.
I curled myself in a ball and started to sob. When was this going to end, and when was I finally going to get mated to someone that actually cared about me? I was still sobbing when I felt a presence in front of me. I raised my head to see my mates standing in front of me, and my heart nearly stopped.
“Leave me alone.” I stood up to my feet and attempted to leave, but one of them held my arm.
“We need to speak to you, Arielle.” He said firmly.
