His Lips On Mine

ARIELLE’S POV My eyes slid back open slowly as my consciousness was slowly returning. A sharp pain rang through the back of my head, causing me to wince. My vision was blurred, and I could barely make out my surroundings. I began to wonder what had happened to me. I rubbed my eyes, clearing my vision. I was lying flat on the floor, in the empty hallway. I pushed myself up into a sitting position as I held the back of my head. I looked to my side, and saw a ball sitting there. Everything began to add up. The large mass that had collided with my head was this ball, and there was no doubt that someone threw it at me. My mood went sour at that instant. It seemed that I had been passed out for quite a while, and everyone left me there, lying in the hallway. But there was no way they would help me. I was a poor, lowly omega after all. I pushed myself up from the ground and it immediately hit me that classes would have already begun by now. My mind instantly flashed to my homework. I looked around me, hoping to find my book, but it was nowhere in sight. I could only imagine that someone had taken it, or thrown it into the trash. A sense of dread washed over me. How was I going to explain this to the professor? With a sense of urgency ringing in my head, I dashed down the hallway, and all the way up to my classroom. I burst into the room, my breathing haggard. My eyes fell on the professor, who was collecting the homework from each person. His eyes found mine, and he furrowed his eyebrows immediately. “Arielle, you are twenty minutes late for my class. Care to explain yourself?” Seeing that all eyes were on me, I began to feel nervous. I averted my gaze at the ground as I struggled to speak. “I....” I trailed off. I realized that there was no way I could explain myself. What was I going to tell him? That Alisha was bullying me? Alisha was not only popular with the students, but also with the professors. They saw her as a golden child, and if I accused her right now, the professor was bound to debunk my claims. They saw Alisha as some kind of Saint and model student, at least, that was the exterior she showcased to them. I gritted my teeth and went mute as I hung my head low. I heard the professor scoff. “Well, it seemed you cannot explain yourself. Well then, I’m sure you have your homework? Give it to me now, and that would redeem your tardiness.” My heart dropped to the bottom of my chest. I could hear snickering here and there, and I felt like a complete fool. I looked up at the professor, who was waiting for me while tapping his foot on the floor. “Um sir, my homework...I can’t find it,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. The professor raised an eyebrow at me. “You what? Is this an elaborate attempt at an excuse? Arielle, do you think I am an i***t?” From the corner of my eye, I could see Alisha, snickering. I clenched my fists at my side, as I withheld the urge to scream and curse at her. “No, it is not an excuse sir, I really can’t find my-“ “I do not want to hear it,” The professor cut me short as he held his hands up in the air. “I’m giving you detention Arielle. Now, get to your seat, the class needs to continue.” I trudged to my seat helplessly, feeling the weight of everyone’s gaze on me. If looks could kill, I would be dead by now. Classes went by in a blur, and the dreaded detention was here already. I had only heard stories about detention and what it’s like, but it was everything they said it was. Boring, long and most of all, mentally exhausting. Detention passed, however, and I bore through it, even though I was on the verge of collapsing due to how famished I was. As soon as detention was over, I rushed over to my job. The night felt long, and my body felt like it would break down at any second, but I endured through it all. After a few hours of serving customers and managing the counter, I was on my way home. The moment I stepped into my apartment, my legs gave out and I came crashing to the floor. I heard a loud thumping on the weak floorboards, and Sarah appeared in front of me. I looked up at her and saw that her face was etched with worry. “Sis, are you okay?” I flashed her a smile and picked myself up from the ground. “Of course I’m fine, just a little tired from work. How was your trip today?” Sarah’s face gleamed and a toothy grin appeared on her lips. “It was amazing! We went to the amusement park and you wouldn’t believe it! I rode on this huge machine called a rollercoaster and it just went round, and round, it felt like I was gonna hurl!” she squealed. Sarah kept blabbing on about her trip, and seeing her so enthusiastic about it warmed my heart. The sacrifice I had made by giving her the money was totally worth it. We talked for a few more minutes before we both retired into our rooms for the night. But I was going to do less sleeping, and more reading. I also needed to redo the homework, lest I incur the professor’s wrath and that would get me another day in detention. I sat at my shabby worn out desk, carefully redoing my assignment. I was so engrossed in my work, that when a knock came on my room door, I jolted back in shock. I got out of the chair and cracked the door open. “Sarah? Is something wrong?” I questioned the moment I saw my sister, fiddling with her night gown nervously in front of me. “Um, there was a knock on the door, so I went to check. There were three men standing out there. They said they’re here to see you?” I froze, my heart beginning to race. I smiled at Sarah. “Its fine. Go to your room. Okay?” She nodded and breezed back into her room. I exhaled and steeled myself. I was furious that they dared to come here. Theyhad the guts to show up after they stood me up last night. The rage I had felt that night slowly seeped back into me. As I walked up to the door, I prepped myself. I was going to tell them off. I was going to tell them to leave me alone. I exhaled as I swung the door open. My heart almost leaped out of my throat when I laid eyes on these men. We had not seen each other for a day, but they still looked incredibly stunning. They each had a small white bag in their hand, but I could find less about the contents. Enzo’s sharp grinning eyes were fixed on me and I could feel my resolve waning. But I was not going to give in. I folded my arms and glared at them, one by one. “What are you all doing here?” I inquired. Derek scoffed and brushed past me, walking into the house. I spun around, my mouth agape. “You can’t just waltz into my home without my permission,” I protested. “Yes, we can. You’re ours Arielle, our omega, and you are supposed to listen to us,” Enzo spoke. I turned my head to him, but I could not retort back. I watched him and Aiden slip into my apartment and began to look around. In a split second, they were making their way up the stairs. “Where are you going?!” I exclaimed and ran after them. I did not want to draw any attention, and potentially wake my sister up. The three brothers stormed into my room unannounced, and I could see their eyes scanning every nook and cranny, their eyes squinted. “Is this where you sleep?” Aiden scoffed. I gritted my teeth. “Of course, doesn’t this look like a bedroom to you?” “More like a dumpster,” Enzo retorted as he walked over to my closet. Aiden and Derek joined him as they went through my tattered clothes. “Your house is in terrible shape, and so are your clothes. This is a truly pitiful sight to see,” Aiden shook his head. “You need new clothes,” Derek added as he pulled out of my favourite dress. A spark of anger lit up inside of me. They were supposed to be my mates, they were supposed to be loving, but that was just a fairytale. As I boiled with rage, I noticed Enzo, walking up to my desk. He pushed aside my books and began to empty the contents of the bags they were holding earlier. My eyes widened as he filled the table with scrumptious and mouth-watering food. I looked up at him, an eyebrow raised. “What is all this?” I questioned. Enzo walked over to me, and stopped when our bodies were just inches apart. “A little bird informed us that you barely had a meal to eat today, so we got you something.” My heart which was burning with rage, began to simmer down. This was just a small gesture, but it showed that they cared for me. My heart warmed and I felt tears well up in my eyes. “Why would you go so far?” I croaked. Enzo grazed his hands over my cheek and slid his fingers on my chin, titling my head up until our eyes met. “Because you are our mate, and we care about you,” he said softly. My heart danced at his words. We locked eyes for a few seconds and I suddenly began to get lost in them. Without warning, Enzo crashed his lips on mine.
