(Isabella) That familiar sound. That ping. It was ingrained in me already, and elicited emotions that I didn’t dare put words to. A muffled ding, familiar. Familiar. My body felt like it was surfacing through deep water, the ringing in my ears turned muffled, but as I reached the surface, strained my hand to break through the muffling water churning around me. I couldn’t. I was treading water beneath the surface. This time it was a moving thing. Less of the black box I was contained in, less like the fuzzy darkness I let myself slip into. Wherever I was, it was moving, and maybe if it was moving I could too. I reached out towards the surface, towards the emotions that that sound elicited.
