Chapter 3

(Aiden)

I couldn’t believe that I had found my mate after so long I have been with her now for a little over five years. She’s great with the flock and they love her as well. She’s my first mate and Queen. But theirs is something I haven’t told her.

“Aiden” Lana’s voice snaps me out of my thoughts.

“Yes?” I ask.

“I asked you a question” she says with a glare.

“I’m sorry. What was the question?” I asked her. She throws a leg over me before straddling me. You’re probably asking yourself what am I doing with another female when I have a mate. Well, see three months ago, I found out Lana was my second mate. We have been having s*x but for some reason I can’t mark her. My dragon refuses to mark her.

“I asked if you were going to tell your mate that you have a second mate” she said. I’ve been afraid of what would happen if Alex found out about Lana. I want both of my mates under the same roof, but I’m afraid I would lose Alexis.

“No, I haven’t told her yet, but I’m planning to on tomorrow. My parents are coming, so I would take the chance to tell her then and also my parents” I assured her.

“I haven’t met your family yet. When will I meet them?” Lana asks enthusiastically.

“Soon” I tell her. I look at the clock and my eyes widen at the time. I was supposed to have dinner with Alex at 7:00 pm and its 10:00 pm.

“s**t! I got to go” I tell Lana. I grab my phone and see that I have ten missed calls from my mate. I never even heard the phone ring. I quickly get dressed. I grab my coat and give Lana a kiss then a hug. I got her a condo at the edge of the city which is not far from the mountains. I walk out of her apartment and into the elevator. When I get to my car I get in a drive to the castle.

(No one’s POV)

While Aiden was with Lana, Alexis was making dinner for them while also preparing Aiden’s favorite cake to surprise him tomorrow. Aiden said he wanted to have a romantic dinner with her since he’s been busy. But little did he know that every time he was intimate with Lana, Alexis was suffering in silence.

“Argh” Alexis screamed dropping to her knees clutching her chest and stomach. A pain she has been feeling for the past three months makes itself known again. This is the third time today and she had no idea why she was having this pain. She was afraid to go to the flock doctor and ask because she didn’t want the doctor to tell Aiden that she’s pregnant.

After what seemed like hours the pain finally stopped, and Alex was able to get back up on shaky legs. She splashed some cold water on her face before she continued with the dinner. Once dinner was ready Alexis called Aiden for the third time to let him know dinner was ready but there was no answer. Once 7:00 pm passed she called him again. She was starting to worry not knowing that her mate was with someone else.

“Not again” Alexis groaned as she clutched her stomach and chest suffering in silence and alone. When 9:00 came she decided to clean up everything and leave his dinner in the fridge. She then went up to her room and looked at herself in the mirror. She looked like she had literally been through hell today with all the pain and suffering she had been through. Today was worse than any other day because it happened more than once or twice. It actually happened five times and It’s not the first time in the past three months that he had stood her up. Alexis wasn’t bothered by it because she figured he was busy with work, but he could have called her to let her know that he was going to be late or that he couldn’t show up.

“So much for the dress” Alexis murmured before snapping her fingers to change into her pajamas. She usually doesn’t use her powers, but tonight she had no energy to change. The pain in her stomach and chest that she felt earlier had drained her of all energy. Alexis washes her face to get rid of the light makeup before she heads to bed she shares with her mate.

Aiden has just pulled up to the castle. He sped all the way home trying to get to his mate. When he walks in the door he could smell the faint scent of the dinner his mate had made. Guilt filled him knowing that he stood up his mate again.  

“She made my favorite. Lasagna” he whispered cursing himself for being late. He walks to the kitchen and sees that everything is clean. On the counter there’s a note.

‘Your food is in the fridge.

Night’

He opens the fridge and indeed there’s the food she made. He closes the door and goes up to his room and sees her fast asleep. His heart breaks when he sees she had been crying. He walks closer to the bed and carefully sits not wanting to wake her up. He gently touches her face. Alexis shivers but doesn’t wake up.

“I’m sorry my love” Aiden whispers before leaving the room to go eat what his mate had cooked for him. He couldn’t help but think how he couldn’t hear the phone when his mate called. Did he accidentally put it on silent? No, because he never puts his phone on silent. He growled frustrated. He finished up his dinner before going up to his room and taking a hot shower. When he finished he dried himself and wore black boxers before laying next to his beautiful mate. He pulled her closer to him where she sighed in content in her sleep.

“I love you my queen” Aiden whispered kissing her forehead before he fell into a deep sleep.
