Alex kept his word and drove me all the way home and then to work without complaint. His sister happily chatted in the backseat while we drove around town and I had to admit I was actually enjoying my time with Alex for once. He turned on some music and his sister sang along to some of the songs, and spent a good deal of the time teasing her brother, which definitely made the evening more enjoyable. “Thank you for the ride. I really appreciate it,” I turned to say to Alex as he pulled up out front of the diner like I’d asked him to.
