My first thought was Onyx. Would he come rescue me again? Would he know if there was danger in someone’s house? How exactly did he know when someone needed his help? Joey groaned, already mostly asleep, obviously not having heard the crash beneath us, either that of she didn’t care. I reached out and shook her shoulder, making her groan again. “Joey, I think someone’s downstairs,” I whispered to her, hearing some more rattling beneath us. “I’m sure it’s nothing, just go to sleep,” she grumbled back, her hand shooing me away. She rolled over to face the wall away from me and let herself doze back to sleep. But I knew with the adrenaline that was now pumping through my veins, it would be a while before I did the same.
