Mesai
I’ve been in this dungeon for a while now looking at the same things over and over again. A short broken statue marks the entrance to this dungeon. Beyond the broken statue lies the scanty, crumbling room that’s covered in dirt and moss. I haven’t seen the men that attacked me at all today. I suppose that’s a good thing. They haven’t killed me, at least not yet. I know that they take orders from someone who is powerful, so powerful that they knew what my weaknesses were. They made sure to use it against me whenever I don’t comply. They’ve been feeding me, but only when their master tells them to feed me. I would change into some clothes and sit in a small dining room with two men. A servant comes and bring our food and whenever I don’t eat, the men get angry and then hit me, claiming that I’m disobeying them and their master. During that time, I felt Miren’s pain. As twins, we are linked together. We’ve never been separated this long and I know it’s taking a toll on her.
“Get up, it’s time to eat.” One of the henchmen demanded. I slowly got on my feet as he opened the cell and tightly gripped my arm. Here it goes, the same routine. The only difference was that this time I didn’t fight back. I was tired, honestly and needed my strength and energy to figure out how to get out of here. We walked the same long hallway to the room where I have to change my clothes. For some reason, I was told to wear the dress that was laid out for me. I c****d my head to the side. This was different. Was this a formal dinner? Was I finally going to meet their master? The beautiful black dress covers only a small portion of my shoulders and flows down into an elegant keyhole neckline. It's a loose fit which covers up my breasts, but it does so without making it look awkward. My arms were covered completely. The sleeves are a loose fit from top to bottom, giving the dress a slightly casual look, but still elegant. I was slightly impressed, SLIGHTLY.
After I finished getting ready, one of the men opened the door and grabbed my arm again, only this time it wasn’t as rough as before. He led me to a different room. It was a huge formal dining room with gold chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The room was so bright and clean, completely opposite of where I’ve been sleeping. There was a name plate with my name on it and I sat in the chair waiting for my captor to arrive. The table was set nicely with white and gold china set of plates with matching gold utensils. I waited for at least over ten minutes before I heard footsteps. I couldn’t really see the man, but his presence alone made me straighten up my shoulders. He wasn’t just any powerful man, he was important. He sat opposite of me, but not meeting my eyes. Shortly after, a different servant dressed in a black tux came and served us our dinner. I didn’t touch my food although I was hungry. I needed answers. I wanted to know the reason why I’m here.
“What am I doing here?” I asked. He didn’t say anything. He just picked at his vegetables before stabbing one with his fork and bringing it to his mouth.
“No answer? That’s fine. Just know I will do whatever I can to escape this place.”
“You won’t get very far.” His voice was calm, but serious.
“Ahhh, so he does speak,” I responded sarcastically.
He continued to eat his food, not saying another word.
“What makes you think I won’t get far?” He was silent again. Ironically, this is the most normal I’ve felt in days. He continued to ignore me as he picked at his food.
“You and your men took me away from my sisters. I deserve some answers,” I shrieked as I slammed my fists on the tables.
He sat the fork down and looked at me. Dark brown, short hair almost fully covers a chiseled face. His hooded brown eyes watched over me, as if he was trying to intimidate me. A goatee handsomely compliments his eyes. There's something inexplicable about him, perhaps it's how he’s looking at me or it's just simply his presence.
“Okay, since you’re not going to answer me, I’ll just go back to my little dungeon.” I stood up from my seat and as I began to step away, one of the men appeared out of the blue, blocking me.
“Sit back down, you don’t want to upset, Your Majesty,” he warned. Your Majesty? What the hell?
“Well Your Majesty, doesn’t want to give me an answer, so I would rather go back to my dungeon.”
I heard the chair screech and the footsteps became louder as he came close to me. When he stood in front of me, my heart jumped. He was the most stunning man I’ve ever seen. He stood in front of me in my personal space, making it hard for me to breathe. But his scent, oh my, it came off of him in waves.
“This is me being nice, you don’t want to make me upset,” he growled in my ear.
“Well guess what? I'm already upset,” I twirled my hand, to use my force of energy to push him away. Everything blurred but then it cleared right back up. I frowned as a smile appeared on his face. I tried it again and my hands just sparked.
“What the-?”
“What’s the matter, Mesai?” He smirked.
I squinted my eyes at him. “What did you do to me?”
He leaned in and whispered, “Your powers are blocked here. Meaning that they are useless. You are useless.” How? This has never happened before. No one has ever stopped my powers. How could he do so easily?
“What are you?” I asked.
“A king. That is all you need to know,” he answered. Shocking. I could tell by the way he was dressed that he was someone of royalty, he wasn’t an ordinary king.
Why did you block them? Afraid that I will overpower you?” I arched my brow.
“Not at all, Rosie.”
Much to my annoyance, I actually found myself liking this interaction between us. “Don’t call me Rosie, asshole.”
His eyes darkened and the space between seemed to be closing in. My heart beat increased as we both glared at each other. “I blocked them because I know how powerful you are, Mesai. Believe it or not, I’m not here to hurt you.”
“Says the man who kidnapped me,” I rolled my eyes.
“I’m really not,” he reassured me.
“If that’s the case, then why am I here?” I wanted to be with my sisters. I worry for them and I just know that Marise was doing everything she could to find me, but I was more concerned for Miren. She’s my twin, my other half. How was she holding up? I wish I could communicate with her. “You say you’re not here to hurt me, yet your men were beating the first night I got here.”
He frowned, seeming unaware of my outburst. “You were beaten?”
I rolled up my sleeves revealing the dark bruises on my arms. “You think I willingly came here on my own? You ordered your men to beat me and my sister and forced me to come here.”
Even as I spoke, his eyes remained on my arms. His jaw was clenched and his fists were balled. He had no clue what happened to me. Before I knew it, he reached out and touched my skin with his bare hands. He was so gentle as he rubbed over my bruises. It took me by surprise when I gasped at the sensation my body was feeling. I jumped but when he caressed my arm, waves of electricity surged up my arm.
“I-I didn’t know,” he whispered. How could he not know? He’s the King of whatever this place is. He gives the orders and his men follow them.
“You ordered them to attack us,” I reminded him. “How wouldn’t you know? How do you even know you actually have me? I could actually be Miren?
“But you’re not. I know everything about and your sisters, Mesai, everything. I ordered them to get you, not harm you!”
“Why? Why me and not my sister?” I wondered. Not that I would want my sister to be in this situation, but it didn’t make sense to take one twin and not the other.
He huffed out a breath as he let go of my arm, “Because our souls are tied, Mesai. You are meant to be my Queen.”
“Our souls?” I questioned.
“Yes, my lady, our souls are tied. I’ve been looking for you for a long time and now I finally have you.” You mean you finally kidnapped me.
“I can’t be your Queen, Your Majesty. I don’t know anything about you. I don’t even know your name?”
“Roman, my lady. My name is Roman Niclovech Beischel, King of Zounia. We will get to know each other.” He brushed his finger over my cheek while looking deep into my eyes. “And rest assured, my future queen, when I find out who did this to you, they will pay with their life.”
