Chapter 10 Jack’s ears sprang to full alert as he heard a car approach. They were about ten miles out of Prescott in an open grassy area where they’d parked about half a mile off the paved highway down a two-track dirt road that didn’t seem to go anywhere. So far no one else had driven down to that spot. There weren’t even many cars going by on the pavement. Could someone be returning, having gone to town for groceries or some other errand?
