My whole body seemed to vibrate, as if every nerve was linked to a live electrical current. The deeper I went into the darkness, the greater the intensity became. Warmth spread through my body, and a light sheen of sweat formed on my skin. All the curtains were drawn, obscuring any light and leaving me unable to see what lay ahead. The scent emanating from the entrance intensified, luring me to venture even further into the depths.
"Ouch" I yelped as my foot collided with what I could only assume was the leg of a couch or small table that had been hidden in the darkness. "Sh*t, sh*t." I said suddenly as I fell forward. I should know better than to wear sandals as I always seemed to find a way to hurt myself in them anytime I ventured out in them.
