Mr. CEO – You’re Dumped Chapter 10 – A turn of Events Lillian’s P.O.V I got to Richard’s home an hour after he had gone home. I kind of ditched him on the road to make a business call, and he didn’t seem so pleased with it. Either that or he was still angry with himself about the state of his company and having to sell most of the company rights to Elizabeth. I was at fault too. But I couldn’t let him find out my secret that I had been the one looting the company funds. “Lillian. You made it.” he pulled me in for a hug and I had to comply. “Richard. I’m so sorry I ditched you. I had to attend to a client. Something about stolen lands,” I lied, hoping he would believe me and he did. “Oh, it’s fine, I’m still downcast about today, but I’ll be fine,” he replied with a radiant smile. His mum wasn’t around in the living room when I arrived. I’m guessing she might have already gone to bed. It was twenty past ten in the evening and I don’t expect any elderly woman like her to still be up by that time. “Did you get to talk to her?” I asked Richard, but he acted like he didn’t know who I was referring to. “Talk to who?” he replied me with a question and it infuriated me. I took a deep breath before saying anything further to him. “Did you talk to your mum? About how she got the flight tickets to Puerto Rico? You told me on our way home that Barrister Stones mentioned it, right?” His face folds at my words. And I guess that was his way of telling me that he hadn’t talked to her about it yet. Not that I actually cared about his relationship with his mum, I had to do my best to fill the gap Elizabeth left and trust me; it wasn’t an easy task. “You know you’re going to confront her about it, eventually. You can’t be mad at your mum and travel out of the country,” I explained to him, but it didn’t seem to move him. I’m guessing he planned to ghost her till when we go to Puerto Rico. “Well, why don’t we just go to bed, huh? We can talk about everything with your mum tomorrow morning,” I suggested, and he nodded in agreement. ********************************* Our night didn’t go so perfect as I had hoped it would. Richard kept doing research about Elizabeth and her family, and honestly, it was exhausting. I’d seen no one obsess over their ex like he did and even though it hurt for him to publicly showcase how much he still cares for Elizabeth in my presence, he still did it anyway. “My mum is in the dining room and um… breakfast is ready. We were hoping you’d come join us,” Richard announced as he walked into me half naked in his room. He looked at me lustfully and it was creepy, but still kind of sexy. “I’ll meet you downstairs. I just need to get dressed.” I looked at him with a weak smile and he seemed more attracted to me than when he had walked into the room. He came closer and his breath was soothing. He had this hungry look in his eyes, and I knew exactly what he wanted to do. He pressed his lips on mine and gently grabbed my breasts and gave them a gentle squeeze. A soft moan escaped my lips as he caressed my body. I wanted him just as much as he wanted me, but once the thought of last night flashed across my mind; I lost all interest in an early morning hot bang. “Um… you should really head downstairs. I’ll meet you there soon so we can talk to your mum” I glanced up at the ceiling, avoiding eye contact with him and he swallowed hard before turning to leave the room. To think he was making me feel guilty for depriving him of ramming me so early in the morning. He deprived me of it a lot of times too when he was still married to Elizabeth and I did my best to control myself when I was around him. I sighed deeply before putting on a fresh pair of clothes and walking down to the dining room to meet him and his mum. I had my phone in my hand and I intentionally put it on vibrate just in case I got a call from any of my clients. Richard and his mum were as quiet as a graveyard, and it freaked me out just a little. “Good Morning Mrs. Lim, how was your night?” I asked his mum with a smile and she greeted me in the same manner. “My night was lovely dear, at least someone cared to know. I thought maybe you all had lost your voice or something,” she replied, rolling her eyes at Richard. He hissed in response to her statement, and I knew I couldn’t go on with this any longer. “Ok Richard, can you at least speak up and be mature” I frowned at him and he let out an exaggerated sigh. Richard’s mum looked at us both, confused and seemed worried, but he said nothing. “Richard! Is anything wrong?’’ she asks with a frown and it looked like Richard was done being silent. “The problem is you, mum. How could accept those flight tickets from Elizabeth’s representative?” Richard yelled, but his mum simply smiled. “Maybe next time you should learn to inform your mum about the problems you are experiencing in the office,” she shot back at him angrily and I could tell that Richard was in more shock than I was. “What are you talking about, mum?” His anger had suddenly vanished, and he looked so innocent, like someone who couldn’t even hurt a fly. “I am talking about the fact that your company was on the verge of ruins and you couldn’t even bring yourself to let me know!” Mrs. Lim yelled at him and her fierce attitude frightened me like crazy. Richard was quiet for a moment and I didn’t know if I should say something in his defense or allow him to settle things with his mum by himself. I couldn’t actually decide what to do, but then my phone rang. An unknown caller, probably someone in need of a lawyer, I thought to myself as I quickly walked out of the dining room to take the call. “Hello who is this?” I asked, and I heard the voice of a familiar stranger at the end of the line. “Hello Miss. Lillian. I wasn’t quite sure if this was your line or not, but my boss insisted I give you a call,” said the masculine voice over the phone and the only person who crossed my mind was Barrister Stones. “Is this Barrister Stones?” I asked softly over the phone and the person simply laughed at my feeble attempt to find out who it was. “No, this isn’t Barrister Stones or whoever you’re thinking. I’m someone who knows all about your little secrets,” said the caller mischievously. I have a lot of secrets, so if this was a threat call, then whoever it was needed to be a little specific about the secret they could possibly know about me. “Who the hell is this and what secrets are you talking about?” I yelled and at once forgetting that I was barely an earshot away from the dining room. “Don’t you know that it’s really not fun to cheat on the ones we claim to love and also steal from them?” said my mysterious caller and I felt my heart thud at the back of my throat. “Maybe he’d also love to know about your brother. Who we both know isn’t who you say he is,” the caller said again in a happy tone. He seemed to enjoy scaring the living hell out of me and I swear to God that if I knew who this caller was, I would put a knife to their skull. “Whoever you are, I’d like to inform you that threatening people over a call is not always so effective,” I mumbled, doing my best to remain calm but I failed hopelessly. “I sent you a picture, Miss Lillian. Maybe it will help joggle your mind about what I am saying” The call ended, and my heart beats wildly. “Who could this mysterious caller be?” I whispered to myself. I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder and I almost jumped out of my skin. “Richard! Don’t scare me like that ever again,” I yelled, and he hugged me tight. My heartbeat slowed, and my pulse was back to normal. We already had enough on our plate as it was and I couldn’t deal with something like this at the moment, unless it was Elizabeth. She was the only one who knew about my secrets and I still don’t know how she figured that out too, but it only made sense that she would try to scare me off just before I got to Puerto Rico. “The game is on Mondragon,” I whispered under my breath as I held on to Richard so dearly and possibly not wanting to ever let go. “How about your mum? Have you talked things over with her?” I asked Richard, but he sighed at my question. “We haven’t been able to say anything to each other since you left the dining room. I think Elizabeth’s representative must have told her about the financial crises at Lim Sardines when he gave her those flight tickets,” He voice was cold. He seemed pissed at Elizabeth for dragging his mum into this fight and I’m pretty sure that right now, he would do anything to end her. “I guess that explains why she’s been worried about you lately and between the both of us, something is definitely not right about her health,” I told him and his eyes widened in surprise. We both walked back into the dining room together to face his mum and she looked so downcast as she sat by the table all by herself. Seems like she felt guilty for what she did, but I wouldn’t blame her for it, anyway. “I’m sorry for not telling anything, Richie. I only had your best interest and that of the company at heart” Richard pulled her in for a hug, and it was the sweetest thing I had ever experienced. Apart from having s*x, that is. “Come on in here and join in on the family hug,” Mrs. Lim teased, and I obliged to her request. Part of me felt guilty for what I did to Richard, but I couldn’t bring myself to tell him the truth. Especially now that he had found an alternative to the company’s financial problems. My only fear was my threat caller and just how much of my secret they knew and how far they’d be willing to go in order to spill the beans. “I believe Elizabeth must have the one stealing from your company Richie” Mrs. Lim paused for a moment as though struggling to catch her breath. “It’s the only explanation for her newly found wealth. I mean, the world isn’t a Disney fairytale land where magic happens” Not that she was actually right with her hypothesis but, convincing Richard that Elizabeth might bean the one stealing from the company would make it harder for who so ever it was that had evidence against me come out openly and I decided to play along with Mrs. Lim’s story. “That could also be the reason why she agreed to divorce you without even protesting about it,” I added and Richard’s face flashed with rage. It seems my plan was going to work after all. I would have given Richard another reason to be angry with Elizabeth and also more time to find out who called me. I was lost in thoughts that I didn’t notice Richard’s mum slump down to the floor. “Mum!” Richard yelled as he watched his mother lie almost lifeless on the ground Her body was shivering, like someone who had just caught a flu or something, and her body temperature was extremely high. “We need to get her to the hospital right now, Richard. I think your mum just had a stroke!” I declared, and I saw the colors fade from Richard’s skin. He rushed into his room and got his car keys. We both gently lifted Mrs. Lim and lay her down in the back seat before starting up the car engine and zooming off to the hospital. “Hang in there, mum. Please stay strong for me.”
