Chapter 4 Escaped

1114 Words
(Faith's P.O.V.) 5 years later I stared at the beautiful view in front of me. It's true that the City is much prettier during the day. It feels like I’m floating in the clouds. I sighed when my past played in my head again. It feels like yesterday. My entire life changed after that brave step I took years ago. I successfully left the pack, and joined a new world. The world where I truly belong. I'm now living well as an architect. I managed to adjust quickly to the new environment. People work here just like in the pack. But there's no such thing as an Alpha and Omega in here. And most important of all, I'm not a low rank here. Time surely flies so fast. I could have still been Alpha Drake's puppy if I didn't escape. Sometimes, I wonder what happened to him. Did he survive the poison? Many tried to kill him already, but nobody succeeded. I genuinely had no intention of killing him. But it was the only way I could leave the pack. "You look fantastic..." A female voice said. I turned to look at my colleague. It's Agatha. She's wearing a red gown, and beside her is her partner. "You too." I smiled sweetly. "Ohh! A charm you are. Congratulations for your successful project, Faith. I'm sure that our hottie CEO is thanking all the Gods and Goddesses for having you in our company." We both chuckled. "I'm truly humbled and I owe this success to the support of the whole company." "Aww!" Everyone started teasing me. "Hahaha!" We're currently at the fifth floor of the building where the party is currently ongoing. It’s a fancy one with all the decorations and a musical band playing violin in the corner. There's also a waiter wandering around giving everyone a glass of champagne. Reminds you of something, doesn’t it? We waited for the CEO to arrive and have his congratulatory speech for me, but he messaged me saying that he couldn't come. I'm not even surprised anymore. He's a busy man. I'm sure she's just on the top floor where he's slumped to his desk and signing a bunch of papers. I told him that I could hand him help, but he insisted on throwing a celebration for me. It was sweet. One of my malicious colleagues decided to join us. She cleared her voice, attracting all the attention. “Congratulations again, Faith. It hasn’t been that long since you joined the company, but you’ve already brought us a lot of success,” she said. I knew it was just a backhanded compliment, so I just answered with a smile. But the next thing she said left me speechless. “The father of your kids must be so proud. Where is he anyway? I never seen him.” Silent filled us. "Excuse me," I said to the group and walked out. That b***h never fails to ruin my day. She’s the CEO’s secretary. I don’t really care much about her and she wasn’t always this way to me. It all started when Frank decided to confess his feelings for me. That’s when she started treating me like I’m her greatest foe. Well, I’m just working and I don’t think it’s my problem anymore that the apple of her eye likes me. I stared at my reflection from the big mirror on the fancy powder room. I look expensive in my long metallic gown. It somehow reminds me of something that I don't even want to remember anymore. It's all in the past. I checked the time in my phone. 10 A.M. It's time. [Hello, Madam?] "Hi, Karen. How are the triplets?" [Oh, they're wearing their uniforms now, Madam. Should I send a picture?] "No. That won't be necessary. Just take them to the kindergarten, okay? Don't forget to bring their trinkets." [Yes, Madam.] And the call dropped. I bite my lip and put the phone in my small purse. The doctor is preparing the tools she will need for the operation. Both of my legs were resting on an elevated metal on the side of the bed. My legs are wide open in front of her. It's cold. It's very cold. "Are you ready, Miss Williams?" the doctor asked. I looked at her with watered eyes. I can't see her clearly. My vision is blurred. I landed my eyes at the tool she's holding with her left hand. A speculum... "N—No! NOOOOO!" I started to move and kicked the doctor in front of me. I hit her chest and I'm sure that she fell on the floor. I took that as an opportunity to sit up. The nurses hold me still, but I kept screaming and kicking. "Don't hurt my baby!" My lips curved into a smile when I saw Frank working in his glass office. He's the first thing you will see when the elevator opens at the top floor. He has the whole floor for himself, but he decided to put my office beside his. So, we're technically sharing this floor. Just the two of us. I smiled and opened the door to my office. It's good that he didn't notice me. The last thing I want to do is to distract him from work. I was greeted by a bouquet of flowers on my desk. I chuckled softly and looked at Frank again. It came from him, I know. I wanted to believe that these red roses are for the celebration of the success of my project. There was also a box of chocolates and a small note saying, 'Proud of you' beside it. Frank is the CEO of the GoodBuild Corporation. I work for him as an architect, but I know that I'm more than just an employee for him. He likes me. He's always been so transparent about it. He knows that I have triplets, but he said that he's ready to accept them as their own. He said that I will need a partner to raise my kids. He's rich and handsome. He's everything a woman would wish for. But Frank is just a friend to me. And I don’t need a man to help me raise my children. I was about to put down the flowers when I noticed a letter from another company. From Stronghold Corporation. They're our greatest competitor in the business. So, why would they leave me a letter? I pulled my chair and sat. I stared at the envelope. In the front of it is a very familiar totem to me. My eyes slowly turned into a dot. The pattern of the Nightstar Pack.
