Chapter 9

Mia's POV

I was walking towards the kitchen, particularly the refrigerator but stopped on my tracks when I caught a sniff of Jaxon's scent. What made me more angry was I could smell the b***h’s scent too. But I decided to play it cool. Maybe he acted that way because of matebond. Well, he made it clear that he doesn't want me anyway.

I held my head high and walked into the kitchen. I saw the girl who is obviously Veronica. Looking at me, she snaked her arm over his shoulder on purpose to show her that she marked her own territory.

I looked at Jaxon. He was looking at me too. Like he wasn't paying attention to Veronica. His eyes again held an emotion that I can't describe. The air between us became so thick with emotions. I looked away and took my pint of ice cream. It was also clear that the air between Jaxon and I affected Veronica.

I started walking and I can still feel Jaxon burning holes in my skull. What has gotten into him?

I made it to Nick's room and sat on his bed.

"Nick! Ice cream?" I asked him, making him smile. Well, I know this smile. A smile he gives when he is deep in thoughts.

"Ok! What's the matter?" I asked with a spoonful of cookies and cream ice cream in my mouth that almost made me moan.

I came to senses when I heard Nick chuckle.

"Did you just laugh at me?" I asked him with my mouth already full and that made him laugh a little more.

I didn't find a reason not to hit him. So I took the extra spoon I bought with me and hit him on his head.

"Ouch! That hurts!" he said and I stuck my tongue out now that I swallowed the ice cream.

"So... I've been thinking recently," he started saying and I put the ice cream aside to listen

"I'm Alpha blooded too. But here, I'm not really doing anything. The pack has an Alpha, Beta and every other rank and I'm tired of sitting without any work. So I've been thinking about fighting Alpha Nathan and taking over his pack. It's not a big one, but enough for me to start my life as an Alpha. What do you say?" He asked me with expectant eyes.

"Awesome! And I also heard that Alpha Nathan doesn't treat pack members well. Just become the Alpha and give freedom to those people" I said

"I knew you would understand me," Nick said, jumping over me for a hug. I laughed while hugging him back. Being Alpha Blooded, I know how terrible it was for him to sit without any work. And Nick can be an amazing Alpha. More Amazing than Jaxon actually. The more I listened to Nick,the more I felt sleepy due to the tiresome day.

I didn't know that I drifted off into sleep until someone took me into their arms. It felt weirdly comfortable so I didn't bother opening my eyes. Soon, my back hit the soft mattress and I couldn't ask for more. I slept again.

I woke up in my room and the first thing I thought was "Yay! It's Saturday which calls a holiday"

I did my business and met everyone in the dining room. The breakfast was pretty cool. Blueberry pancakes, cereal, eggs, bacon and some OJ. Anyone can eat whatever they prefer. Well me, I would love to taste everything.

Alpha Titus soon joined us and it was fun to eat with him.

"And then, Jaxon being the punk he is, thought he could build a house with only leaves and his point was wood is hard but leaves are soft and he can sleep anywhere." Alpha said and that's when I broke into laughter.

I never actually pictured little Jaxon and his stupidness. But this was on another level. No matter if he was just 5 then, he was still funny.

"That's not funny" Jaxon tried to justify himself which only made us giggle more.

I didn't see Nick the whole day. I wonder where he is. Maybe hanging out with someone. But he doesn't have many friends since he's in Lunar Shadow most of the time. Argh! Whatever.

I spent most of the day trying to talk to Ashley who just blocked me out. And Tal just didn't answer my calls. So I made myself comfortable in the pack's library reading a random book.

By the time I finished one it was already 7 pm so I came back to the house again. And guess what? I was greeted with a little make out session of Jaxon and Veronica in the living room.

Jaxon's eyes suddenly widened and saw me standing by the door. Maybe he smelled me already. Veronica instantly scowled looking at me. I stopped giving a s**t to both of them. I don't know why but I just lost hope. And interest too. I am here because of the extensive menu this pack house has for every meal.

I went to my room and I didn't understand how but tears found their way to roll down.

A knock made me wipe my tears and yell to come in.

Oooh! Surprise!! It's Jaxon. Now I can feel nothing for him. Love.. it's just no more.

"Look, I'm sorry" He whispered

"Oh really?! Anything else?" I muttered looking at my nails to show that I don't care.

"Just come and eat. Dad is asking about you." He said and that made me hurt. He came here because his dad asked him to. But I didn't want to show that to him. So I just nodded.

We soon started eating and while I was about to have my dessert came Nick. With blood all over him and still he managed to smile. Weird enough, Alpha power was oozing out of him.

"Dad! I killed Nathan. I'm the Alpha of Dark knight pack" Nick smiled showing his teeth covered in blood.

Oh s**t! He already told me this. I couldn't be more proud of Nick. Being just seventeen he defeated an Alpha of Twenty four year old.

Alpha Titus patted Nick's back that indirectly showed ' I'm proud of you son'

I hugged him real tight later which he returned back pulling me impossibly closer to him. His hug felt all kinds of emotions.

He pulled away with a smirk.

"What's wrong?"

"You're coming with me!"

And then, the dining table broke into two pieces followed by a loud roar.
