“Interesting…” Adam murmured to himself as he saw her retreating figure walked further away from him. Only then, he knew that she was his first human target on earth. He promised himself that by the end of this week, that woman will surrender and become his. He grinned at the thought and walked inside the university. Adam checked on his class schedule through his phone. It seems like he had a full day of class today. Boring… He thinks, then let out a deep, defeated sigh. But if he wants to blend in, he also needs to behave like a human.
As he threw his backpack on the chair in the backseat for his second class, he then saw her again. She came into the class with two other women. It’s strange how other females now looked unappealing into his taste after his short encounter with her. Harper felt cold in her spine as she felt his intense gaze towards her. Her eyes soon met with his. It was the most attractive pair of eyes, and she couldn’t help but feel drawn towards the owner. It has this magnetic power that pulled her from the real world, if that’s even possible. What is she thinking? She thought she had lost her mind.
She quickly broke their eye contact and took a seat in the front row, as far away from him. Adam looked at his new toy with a curious smirk on his face. She looked even more tempting from behind. Her long sexy hair, and her curves… “Harper Brown?” Suddenly the lecturer called, and she raised her hand. Harper…so that’s her name. “Adam Cohen…” his name was called, but he was engrossed in his own thought of his new favorite human.
Suddenly all eyes looked into him, and only when Harper also turned around to look at him, he just realized that he was being called many times. “I’m here!” he replied curtly. “Okay, great! So everyone is here… We will separate you into a group of two. Please put your names here, and we will decide the group randomly.” Said the professor. And just like heaven was on his side today, he got paired with Harper.
“Hi…So we meet again!” she said sheepishly at him. She still can’t believe her bad luck for being in the same group as this man. It still feels awkward to engage in a conversation with him. He inched closer towards her, looking deeply into her face. “You’re pretty…Do you have a boyfriend?” he bluntly asked.
Harper’s face blushed at his compliment, she rarely got a compliment about her appearance. It’s not that she isn’t pretty, but she is not that kind of social butterfly for other people to notice her.
“Who? You mean Taylor? No, we’re just friends...” Harper replied. She couldn’t understand why she had to explain anything to this man. “Stay away from him! He’s not good for you.” Adam warned her. Why is he being possessive over her right now? she thinks. “Don’t be ridiculous. We’ve been friends since middle school. He’s totally harmless.” Harper said casually. She seemed to be oblivious. Adam could tell instantly that Taylor guy had another intention towards her. He could easily spot his sin on Taylor, and that makes him uneasy.
“Class…So this is your assignment for today.” The professor said, adverting both their intention back towards the class. They both looked away and continue with the class project. Mr. Davis gave us a group project, which should be submitted by the end of this week. It means Adam had a full week to be with her. “So, how come I never notice you before? I can’t believe it since we already halfway through the semester, and I just realized we had you in our class.” Harper said as she walked out of the class with Adam.
“I just got transferred here today.” He replied. “You’re not from New York? Where did you come from? Let me guess…LA?” she asked Adam back. He chuckled. “No, not LA. It’s actually quite… far… from New York. Believe me, you wouldn’t want to know.” Adam replied with amusement and then walked away from her. He didn’t want to risk exposing his true identity to her. She will be freaked out if she finds out that he was the prince of hell.

Harper is just finishing her ballet rehearsal for the day. She loves dancing. It was the only thing that could make her forget about her problem at home. Her parents were arguing almost every day, and they even mentioned a divorce last night. Her parents makes her constantly questioned about love. Is there even such thing as true love in this world?
“Good job today, Harper! I think you could win the competition next month.” Mrs. Clara said, smiling at her. Harper wiped her sweat using a small towel. “Do you think so? I still haven’t managed to make a perfect spin on the last minute.” Mrs.Clara patted her shoulder softly. “It was way better than the last time. You should go easy on yourself, Harper.” She kindly advises.
“Mrs. Clara, can I stay here tonight?” Harper asked as she looked down into her foot. “Is it because of your parents?” Mrs. Clara asked with pity. She nodded weakly. “Okay, but only for tonight…You’re a grown-up woman, Harper. You should be able to face your problem, instead of running from it.” She said as she put her hands on Harper’s shoulder.
She raised her face, “Thank you, Mrs. Clara. I promised you this time would be the last one.” She said. Harper really appreciates her kindness. She didn’t want to go home tonight. “Don’t forget to lock the door. This place is not safe at night. You know a burglar had entered our studio last week, right?” Mrs. Clara said as she makes her way out from the door. “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to locked them after you left,” Harper replied.
Harper took a clean, dry towel from the locker and took off her clothes. She had sweat a lot during the recital, and she definitely needs to take a bath right now. She instantly felt alive again after a nice long bath. As she went back into her locker to get her clothes, she heard something from behind her. She clutched into her towel tightly and took a flashlight with her.
“Hello? Anyone there?” she asked, her voice is trembling with fear. Did the burglar come here again tonight? Her heart was hammering inside her ribcage as she walked into the door. She checked for the door, but it was still locked. She let out a breath of relief. Maybe it’s just a mouse.
When she turned around, she almost dropped the flashlight because Taylor suddenly appeared in front of her. “Oh my God, Taylor! You’ve scared me!” She softly hit his arms. Taylor smiled at her. “I just saw your rehearsal earlier. You did great, Harp.” He said as he hugged her. “I thought you had a football match today?” Harper asked him as they walked into her locker. “Yes, but the match ends earlier than I thought. So I still had time to saw your practice.” He explains.
“Wait for me here. I’ll put on some clothes first.” Harper said as she went into the bathroom. “Did you guys won?” Taylor could still hear her voice from inside the bathroom. He chuckled in response, “You know we always won, Harp. Do you still remember your promise to me?” Taylor asked back. Harper went out of the bathroom. “Which one?” Harper asked, tilting her head to the side. She didn’t recall that they make any promises to each other.
Taylor rolled back his eyes at her. “You promised to go on a date with me if I won, remember?” he asked with a disappointed tone. “Oh?…I think I never agree to that.” She said, scratching the back of her head. Taylor got up and pulled her hand. “Come on, I want to see the new movies. You have to come with me.” He stated with a final tone. “But I wasn’t prepared to go out! Don’t you see my outfit?” Harper said in an annoyed tone.
She wore a loose T-shirt with some sweatpants. “There’s nothing wrong with your outfit.” Taylor shrugged and dragged her into his car. Harper finally surrenders to his request because she knew how stubborn Taylor is. They had known each other long enough to understand his personality.
During the ride, Taylor put his hand on her knee while singing their favorite songs. They were both comfortable with each other. Harper suddenly remembered about Adam, he warned her to stay away from Taylor. Harper looked at Taylor, and he smiled back at her. Nah! He’s totally harmless. She thinks.
