Chapter 1: Unexpected Meeting

I finally finished college as well. The next step is for me to apply for a job. Several companies that I applied for a job. And also submitted my resume online, but they never contacted me. Perhaps they didn't like me because I'm just an ordinary person. My character references also were not truly wealthy or famous people. But I will not lose hope. I can still find a good and decent job.

I am now going to the ALW Empire building. I saw an ad on ** that the CEO of ALW Empire has hired a secretary if I am not accepted here. I am sure I will have a hard time finding money to pay for my apartment next month.

As I walked toward the elevator, I saw a familiar face enter the elevator. It was Luke Uwien, my ex-boyfriend that I left before so; I called him.

"Hi! Luke, Long time no see. How are you?" I am glad to ask him because I missed this guy.

"Do I know you?" He asked me with a cold voice and, then he raised his eyebrow. So the people who had just come out of the elevator laughed and murmured. But I just ignored them and followed Luke into the elevator.

"You do not know me anymore? By the way, I am Savannah ..." but I did not finish what I was going to say because he had already spoken.

" The Gold Digger?" He replied with no emotion. I was hurt by what he said, but I did not show it to him.

" Nope! I am the woman you used to love," then I winked at him.

"And that was my biggest mistake!" He replied and laughed bitterly.

"Okay! I am sorry!" I replied briefly. I know I hurt him before, but now that I've seen him, I'm going to do everything I can to make him forgive me. He did not respond. We were just staring into space in the elevator. But why is Luke so attractive now? It wasn't like he didn't care what he wore before.

"Did you work here?" I asked him without looking at him because I was already embarrassed because of his coldness.

"Yes!" He replied while busy texting.

" Really? What is your position?" I asked him gladly.

" Guess what! You are good at guessing, aren't you?" He replied expressionlessly. Luke was not like this before; It was fun talking to Luke back then; you will not get bored. But why is he so cold now?

" Based on what you are wearing, you are Janitorial Manager. But why were you accepted here? Didn't you finish high school, right? Do you know anyone here? " I asked him innocently. He was wearing a tuxedo and not a uniform of a janitor. He may be the manager or supervisor of cleaning services.

" Hahaha! I want to remind you, Ms. Miller! Do not judge people based on what you know. You do not know me anymore, so don't be feeling close to me, okay?" then he tapped my shoulder. I was shocked by what he said.

"By the way, why are you here?" He seriously asked me.

"I would like to apply for CEO secretary, can you help me?" I was embarrassed asking help from him.

"As far as I know, our CEO dislikes Gold Digger and chatty," he said, looking at me. Why was I suddenly tense as he locked his gaze on me?

" I’m not a Gold Digger! And, I am only talkative when I talk to you!" I replied and glared at him.

"Okay! Where is your resume?" He asked me. So I was surprised.

" You will help me?" I excitedly asked him.

" Please give it to me! I'll forward it to my Boss," He replied coldly.

"Okay! Thank you, Luke! If I am hired here as the CEO’s secretary, I will treat you to dinner at the expensive restaurant," I told him with a happy face.

"Okay!" He replied and read my resume.

" Luke, I am curious. What is your job here?" I asked him again.

" I am the bodyguard of the CEO!" He replied blankly.

" Really? Wow!" And suddenly, the elevator opened. When I looked at the employees, who were about to enter the elevator, they suddenly bowed and greeted him good morning.

" You can go home now. Just wait for the text whether you will be accepted or not," He replied with a frown.

" Okay! Thank you so much, Luke! " I said and waved at him.

I was relieved to return to my apartment because Luke and I were meeting again. I also hadn't heard from him in five years. I can't even find him on social media.

One week later.

I was still not called, so I returned to ALW Empire to inquire with their human resources department. Luke might not have given them my resume. I was about to enter the building when I noticed a janitor carrying a stack of folders.

" Hi! What will you throw away?" I asked him.

"These are resumes submitted by applicants who did not make it through the interview process," The janitor replied.

"Why wasn't I contacted? I also sent my resume to Luke," I replied to him sadly.

"Sir Luke also threw some trash. Look at this! Maybe, it is yours," the janitor replied.

I was saddened by what I saw. Luke has already thrown away my resume.

" Okay, thank you for your time!" I replied to the janitor as I held back my tears from falling.

" You are welcome, Ma'am! Maybe you are Boss's new secretary," then he smiled at me.

I was about to go home, but someone texted me.

" You have an interview today with our CEO of ALW Empire, just go straight to the office of the CEO. Thank you. "

"Is this true?" I asked myself with disbelief.

So I hurried to the office of the CEO. When I entered, I saw a beautiful woman there. So I asked.

" By the way, I am Savannah Miller. I came here because I received a text saying that I have an interview with the CEO today," I told her.

" But Ma'am, I am sorry, but Sir Winston does not have an interview scheduled today," she replied, which made my heartbreak.

"Okay! Sorry, Maybe the person who texted me just made a mistake," then I smiled at her fakely. Because I was embarrassed, I was looking for Luke. I want to slap him.

I was about to enter the elevator, but someone spoke behind me.

"How do you feel when someone humiliates you?" When I turned around, I saw Luke with a dark face staring at me.

"I know you are taking revenge on me, so you are throwing away my resume! Thanks anyway!" and I left him and I went into the elevator, but he went in too.

" Why are you following me?" I asked him and glared.

" Excuse me! I'm not following you, it also happens that my girlfriend is waiting outside," he replied coldly.

I could not answer him. I was hurt by what I heard. I thought I would accept when I found out that Luke had a new one, but I did not. I hope we never met.

I just avoided him. I just listened to music to relieve the pain and hatred I feel now.

" Why do you want to work here?" He seriously asked me.

" Because there is a vacancy here, and I don't have the money to pay for my apartment next month," I replied tiredly.

"Okay! I'll talk to Boss later. I will just text you tomorrow," He said, and suddenly the elevator opened, so I could not answer him anymore because he was already out.

And I saw him with a beautiful woman. Yes, I was jealous when I saw them, but I had no right because I had hurt him before.

I no longer want to expect to be accepted as a secretary in the ALW Empire. I do not deserve it because I graduated college at an unknown school. Even if I am a cumlaude, that is not the basis for them to accept me.

"From now on, I will never come back here," I whispered, and I looked at the building. But someone pulled me.

" Miss, do you want to die? Then, don't involve other people!" He said with a fierce look. I forgot I was on the road.

"Sorry!" I replied to him in shock. He was handsome, but he had a bad attitude.

"You are beautiful, but you are stupid!" He said, then he got into his car.

" You too! You are ugly!" I shouted at him, but his car had already left.

 "Annoying!" I whispered.
