Auntie's plan

Avery POV

“Avery, I will leave Ecean to you” Auntie said after we had our dinner. She’s wiping the side of her lips.

“Hmm? What do you mean Auntie?” I asks as I was about to finish the last bite of my dinner.

“I have a sudden trip to Bali, Indonesia. I’ll be meeting my Long distance boyfriend there” She said.

What? Did I heard it right? She had a long distance boyfriend? And she is the one who will go to the man’s place, to meet him? Isn’t it supposed to be that, that man should make the effort to visit Auntie?

“Now?” I asks

“Yes. I won’t let this chance slip” Auntie said. “I wanted to meet him and to be with him tonight” she said then wink. Aish.

“Slip? that man should be the one to make the effort of coming here to visit you and not the other way around.” I asks

“We are living in a new era. It's the 21st century now Avery, there is already no such thing as the girl pretending to be hard to get and waiting for the guy to make an effort to win her. If you love someone, get him. Love him. Have a relationship with him. Then if it doesn’t work, then break up. Don’t stress yourself about it too much” Auntie said.

Wow, I can’t believe her. This is my first time seeing this side of her. Someone who is liberated and loud. Someone who is just carefree. I wonder why Auntie doesn’t have a family yet.

“Hmm, I see” was all I can say.

“Tell Ecean that I can’t stay for too long. Tell her that I'll miss her. I’ll see her next time I visit” Auntie said. Then she opened the window, and went out there.

“Huh? Where are you going auntie? Don’t jump on a window! there's a door you know, and you're going to break a bone or something” I said. But it was too late. Auntie had already jump off the mansion's window. The dining area is located at the 2nd floor of this house. Why is she using the window to escape instead of using the front door to exit?

To my surprise, the helicopter suddenly appeared. I saw Auntie holding on to the rope ladder that was attached to the helicopter. The type of ladder you'll see in rescue operations.

“Oh, by the way Avery” Auntie shouted. “The maids and butlers will leave in 30 minutes. You and Ecean will be the only ones who will be left in the mansion. It is a good strategy for you to meet and have a talk with Ecean. The cooks will be leaving too. So the two of you should learn how to cook and feed yourselves. Oh, and by the way, hope you’re still alive and kicking till the next time I come back” She said. Then the helicopter flew away and left us.

AIsh, she’s so impossible. How could she leave me with her niece? Isn’t she scared that maybe, I will do something to her? Or maybe the opposite, Ecean will do something to me? Like someone I see in a gore films.

“Ms. Avery” the maid said.

I turned my head and look at her.

“This is the list that Madam left for you” she said then handed me an envelop.

It is just a household chores. So it’s fine. Then there is a note below the task list.

‘PS. Make sure that I'll see some improvement on Ecean when I came back. If not, then you know what will happen’

Aish. Now she’s pressuring me to change Ecean as soon as possible.

“Uhh, Ms. Avery. We will be leaving now. Ms. Ecean wants her food to be served to her in her room. We already prepared the food. You'll just have to serve it to her, Ms.” The maid said.

“What? Why?” I asks

“Uh, that is what Madam’s ordered us. her last order for us before we leave” she said.

“Aiish. Okay, okay. Thank you” I said. The maid bowed her head then leave, but before she could get away, I ask her one last question.

“Uhh, wait” I said

she turn her head and answer “Yes, Ms?”

“Is Ecean always alone here? Do you always leave her alone, whenever her auntie was not around?” I asks

“No mam, this is our first time to leave Ms. Ecean. Madam told us that she wanted Ecean to socialize with her new housemate. And not to lean on the maids for any favors she wanted to asks.” She said

I see, that’s why…

“hmm, okay thank you” I said.

“Before we leave, We will show you your room first, if you could follow me Ms.” she said. Then I followed her.

One of the maids were washing the dishes.

I’ve seen some maids that was taking the foods in the fridge.

“Wait, why are they taking out all of the foods?” I asks

“Madam ordered us that we shouldn’t leave any foods in the refrigerator. So that you to will learn how to buy foods at the grocery or market by yourselves” she said.

Well, it’s fine with me. I know how to do groceries and select the right produce at the market.

“I see.” I said.

“This will be your room, miss” she said. We are now facing the door. She opened the door for me.

Wow, This room is huge, it looks like it could fit one small house inside. There is a bed in the middle.

Even though the room is so spacious, it still looks empty. It is much better if I am not alone in this room. At least I have someone with me.

“Is there anything you like to ask us more before we go, ms?” the maid asks.

“Uhh, no. I think that'll be all?” I answered.

“If that’s the case, we will go now, miss. Oh, this is the budget madam wanted to give to you. Your weekly budget.” She said. Then handed me a brown envelop.

“Hmm? Weekly budget?” I asks. Then I opened the envelope. I counted the money inside. Ohh? This is enough for a week’s budget.

“Yes miss. Madam said that you need to learn how to budget the money for your food and needs every week” she said. “She wanted you to teach miss Ecean about the importance of spending a limited budget” she said.

“I see. Thank you. I will try to do my best” I said.

I really do hope I can get along well with Ecean.
