Auntie's Niece

Avery POV

Finally, we arrived at the mansion. The house is so big and it looks sad too. I mean, the house looks empty even though it was beautiful

“Is Ecean living alone in this house?” I asks.

“Nah, she’s with the butlers and maids” Auntie replied. The butlers were taking our baggage out of the car.

“But she’s still living alone” I said. If Ecean was with her butlers and maids, doesn’t it mean, she’s living alone? Like her butlers and maids were not her family member. So she’s living all alone by herself. Well unless, she is close with them.

“Well, if that’s what you think, then yes. She is living alone” Auntie said.

“She must be lonely in there” I said looking at the house.

“Well, I doubt” Auntie said.

“Huh? Why?”

“You will know. Come on, let’s enter” Auntie said.

The butlers were carrying our baggage as we enter the mansion. There are six maids lining up to welcome us.

“Welcome home, madam” they said

“Welcome home, Ms. Avery” then they greeted me. I smile at all of them then greeted them back

“Thank you” I said.

“ACCCCKKKKKKKK!!!!” we heard someone scream. It was a scream of terror.

All of us ran into the kitchen since it is where we heard the scream

“What happened?” Auntie asks. Based on the dressed that the girl is wearing, I guess she’s one of the maids. There are foods that is scattered in the floor. Good thing none of the plates were broken.

“The… thhe—” the maid is pointing something. I look at where she is pointing at. There is a finger, a broken one. It looks like it got chopped by the killer or something.

I look closely at the finger, it is not the real finger. I guess someone is pulling a prank. But this toy finger looks real.

“Aish,” Auntie just face slapped. “Ecean” I hear her whisper.

“Are you new here?” Auntie asks the maid. The maid nodded her head.

“I’m sorry for what just happened. I guess my niece is pulling some pranks again. She usually did this to those new hired maids in here” Auntie said. Auntie offered the maid, a water.

“DO you have a heart disease?” Auntie asks. The maid shakes her head.

“Good to know. Please expect some unexpected and shocking events while you are working in here. That is one of the reason why the salary grade on the maids in here were doubled than what other agency offered.” She said.

The maid just nodded her head. Then after a while, she fixes herself and excuse herself to us.

Auntie then look at me.

“Welcome to the house full of horror and mystery” Auntie said.

“It’s fine Auntie, I love watching horror movies and gore films” I said. It is true, I am amaze on those kinds of genre. I am amaze by how did the art director did all those kinds of things. Like everything seems so true and realistic even though it was all a props for the film or movies.

“Good to know. At least, I can expect that you won’t quit easily. You are up to the challenge” Auntie said. “and let me remind you, you might be having a hard time on handling Ecean” She said

Aish, looks who’s talking. She is the one who threatened me, who left me with no choice but to handle and change her niece. Without giving me any idea on her niece’s behavior. Then she’s giving me this warning now? When I can’t escape to this house? Ugghh, never mind.

A Little sacrifice is nothing compared to earn a huge amount of money where I don’t know how to find it just to live in this expensive city. Well, if this isn’t for my dream school. Then I wouldn’t be here.

“Of course auntie” I said. As if I still have a choice.

After a while, we were having dinner…

“Call Ecean to come and eat with us” auntie said to the maids

“Miss Ecean doesn’t want to be bother Madam” One of the maid said.

“She had never met her new housemate” Auntie said.

“Uhh, madam,” the other maid interrupted

“What is it?” Auntie asks

“Ms. Ecean is not in her mood. We tried to tell her and persuade her that you are having a dinner and she should come down to welcome you and have a dinner with you but she pulled something to us again” she said.

“What did she do this time?” Auntie asks

“She gave us a box” She answered.

“And? What’s inside the box?” Auntie asks

“There is a dead cat in there” The maid answered

Auntie looks so done with her niece. I think this is what usually happened here in this house. Maybe that’s why this house looks so empty an sad at the same time. Because Ecean is not allowing anyone to enter her personal space.

“Not again. Aish. Fine. I will talk to her later. What did you do to the dead cat?” Auntie asks

“I throw it madam” the maid answered.

“Okay, thank you” Auntie said.

“Is Ecean always do this to these maids, auntie?” I asks.

“Yeah. That’s why I am having a hard time to find someone who can handle her. She listens to no one. She always mess up with all the maids in here, especially the new ones. I always received resignation letter every week. And when I asks them their reason, they said that Ecean did something to them. That they can’t sleep and they are slowly experiencing an anxiety attack because of her. They don’t give specific scenarios, but they always tell me that Ecean pulled a lot of pranks or creepy things to them” Auntie said.

Wow, so, my attention will be divided in my studies, me being a varsity player, handling Ecean and change her to become a girly type of girl. So that Auntie won’t asks me to pay her for my rent living in her house.
