“How many days do I have?”
“Let’s just say 60 days”
Augustine POV
“We can hunt ghosts at night
We can suck their souls without a thought
But never on earth, not when we are here
We harm an innocent human at any cost”
I whisper to myself before entering the abandoned building. I look around and I don’t feel a single soul. The building hasn’t been come to use so there are no camera’s around. I make my way to the reception. There is no one.
So no one to watch their backs.
“Wadifompresa” (wait for me) I hear Reaper call out. Sometimes it feels like he has floating legs. No one could hear him approaching.
I put a finger over my lips.
“Ifethypreovivflo” (It will be on the fifth floor) Reaper informs me, and I nod. Slowly moving towards the stairs and with one lunge we are on the fifth floor. It seems awfully quiet for a d*******l going on.
“Couyoteifthypreisher” (Are they here yet?) I ask him and he shrugs.
I take out my cigarette and lit it, feeling the smoke warming my throat. The light grey cloud instantly makes me calm.
That’s when I hear a voice. Sound of a car, making sudden breaks. Few footsteps coming close.
“Iwikithall” (No Mercy) I say as I take out my lighter.
“You should stand away,” I say to Reaper who just raises his hands up and moves some steps back.
I crush the lit cigarette below my shoe and lit the lighter again. Making a circle at the entrance.
As my clock hits 3:00, I hear loud arguments which are followed by gunshots and that’s my cue. The dark souls are rushing into the room one by one. I take out my lighter and it turns into a flaming sword. One after the other, I s***h the souls into pieces, Cutting them in half from the waist, Smashing their head with all force. Slowly the room is filled with dark energy and I suck it all in with a deep breath.
I could feel my body rising above the ground and my eyes turning red, the color of blood. There is an energy rush in my body that makes me feel powerful.
“You could have left me a single soul” Reaper complains and I stare him in the eyes full with rage, with the desire of the one thing which I want the most right now. No words come out of his mouth again and I slowly bring my body back to land.
“I don’t know if this is okay," he gestures to the room, which is empty now. "You should find the a..” I interrupt him before he speaks another word.
“Demons could hear and understand you whichever language you speak,” I warn him. “And it isn’t just me who is looking for that” I look at him with disgust.
He should have known this.
“Still you are awfully mad than usual” he points out and this is the thing that worries me the most.
How does she have so much control over me? Why does seeing her with someone else makes my heartache? Why I feel like she belongs to me and only me. She shouldn’t be kissing a f*****g moron but me. If someone has a right to know the taste of those pink swollen lips, it’s me.
“It’s nothing, I was just hungry,” I say as I jump down five flights of stairs.
“There weren’t any innocent people” I glance at Reaper while taking out two beer cans from the fridge.
“Someone might be praying for them to be safe,” he says nonchalantly.
“You mean to say that all the people who might be in danger, someone might be praying for them” I smirk dismissing his theory immediately.
“You can believe in what you find easy to believe in,” he says and I don’t exactly know what it means.
I look at him with my knitted eyebrows, taking a sip from the can and putting it down, and then I lit the cigarette with my lighter.
He takes his usual spot in the room, not before he cleans it and that makes me roll my eyes.
“You know, thinking about some things which might make you question, you don’t want to do that. Hell, I don’t know if Demons have that much brain or thinking capability” he laughs while saying it and I chug down the complete can and crush it in front of his eyes.
“Think before you speak anything to me. You are in my property” I say now inhaling my favorite taste and closing my eyes in the cloud of calmness.
“Speaking of property... I heard the girl living next door complaining last night."
I make a fake gasp hearing him say such words.
“You are such a p*****t, listening to girls at night” I look at him with mock disgust.
He simply shrugs.
“Just wanted to tell you before you get yourself get kicked out of this treasure land” now he makes sense.
I don’t want to leave this place, it is a magnet of crimes. Every crime in the city takes place in this area as no one dares to come here not even the cops. The streets are mostly scheduled and even most of the place is not properly lit at the night. If someone has to make a body disappear or hide anything expensive, they come here.
“Got it, I will try to keep it down” it’s then that I remember why I was so pissed off last night. It was her. My insanity. The purest soul I have come across. I have never felt that strong connection, that strong force from any other human being.
“And why the hell she smiles so easily, that tiny fool” unintentionally my thoughts take the form of words. And I regret it immediately.
“Who?” Reaper asks his eyes filled with many questions
“You don’t know her,” I say trying to change the topic as soon as possible and avoid his questioning eyes.
As soon as I lay my head on the bed and close my eyes, a loud noise disrupts my peace. I look at my dear well-wisher and smirk.
“So you were saying?” He simply shakes his head listening to the romantic song being played loudly.
I get up from the bed, ready to burst my remaining anger on them.
I am pounding at my neighbor's door, who must be a total i***t to risk being strangled by me when suddenly it opens up.
“Yes?” A pair of beautiful blue eyes are staring at me and they don't blink for several seconds. They are deep like oceans and maybe my new favorite place to find peace. They belong to her, the temptress, my maiden, my little fool who is right now dressed heavenly in short pink top and shorts.
“f**k,” both of us say at the same time.
