Joe snuggled into Ron’s safe embrace. He was still full from dinner, which had ended at least two hours earlier. Eating outdoors had been much more satisfying than he’d imagined. Looking up into the night sky, Joe marveled at how clear the moon and stars seemed to be away from city lights. “You okay?” Ron asked, breaking the long silence that had fallen between them. Joe sighed. “Never been better.” Ron kissed the side of Joe’s neck. “I’m glad.” Just then Joe heard a noise which startled him. “It’s okay, babe, it was only an owl.” The sound of crickets and cicadas was relaxing. The frogs, doing whatever they did, were also okay, but he was less sure of owls and other flying things. “Uh, there aren’t any bears, mountain lions or anything like that are there?” he asked, peering into
