~Vulcan~
He watched her leave, his heart still weighed heavily with grief, he could have lost her … completely. He had stood strong in his decision but as soon as he saw her tears he gave in so easily, risking everything because he couldn’t stand to see her cry. He tiredly rubbed his face knowing this was all his doing and now he had to handle things with Odette.
“You know I could come up with so many intriguing ways to say I told you so, but for a dumbass like you .. I’ll keep it simple, I told you so,” Sol spoke up though he sounded relieved that he had finally given in, and on top of giving in he did it so incredibly easily, if silent tears were going to be his complete undoing what would her sobbing do to him? He finally turned towards the direction of Odette’s small home. The woman chose to stay near the edge of the border despite the danger. She wasn’t one to stay in the packhouse.
Vulcan reached the home sooner than he had expected, taking a deep breath, just bite the bullet and get this over this. Raising his hand to knock on the door, why he didn’t just kind mind link her? He didn’t know, but finally, she answered the door and he was invited in. She immediately went in for a kiss as he distanced himself.. these things were never easy especially when it was his fault.
“Odette please sit” he gently motioned to the couch with his hand.
“We have to talk,” he knew those words made people nervous so he quickly tried to get this over with taking a large breath before explaining.
“Truly I was considering taking a chosen mate, a Luna, I’m 28 and I was getting ready to settle. We all knew Azula was the other half of this prophecy and you also were very aware of the fact I avoided such a thing like the plague. I was happy when the council decided we wouldn’t meet until she shifted I had years to not worry about it… well when I saw her that night in the clearing ..” he breathed out softly his eyes glistening at the memory.
“My world changed, her sweet scent of Jasmine and Rain infiltrated my sense and laid claim on my soul. In a matter of seconds of seeing her, she was everything I ever wanted and I resented her for that. And maybe even now a small part of me still does, I’m terrified of what this means, of what’s happening, and finding out that she is my mate…. It complicates everything beyond what I or anyone could imagine” he closed his eyes shaking his head before opening them once more to crouch before Odette.
“I am sorry, I used you, I will not make excuses for what I did. I thought it would keep her safe, but when I kissed you … and she cried I just … broke, she is very kind. She even sent me here to you so I could apologize, the trust she places in me though I haven’t deserved it, I just, I can’t hurt her anymore, not like this.” He finally concluded straightening.
Odette seemed to be in a state of shock, he had done this. She probably needed some time alone.
“I’ll leave you to process” he chided in as he moving for the door “if you wish to continue this conversation please do not hesitate to let me know.”
And with that, he left it felt as if a lot of weight had lifted off of his shoulders, it was a start in the right direction. Thoughts starting to cloud his mind, sure it was a start but what is a starting line with no finish line? No ending? No conclusion what if giving in to his need and adoration for her caused her downfall. What if he brought about his mate's end. A loud growl escaped him as he twisted to punch a tree, Sol chiming in
“What did that tree ever do to you?”
Okay, could he not? At least not right now. He felt as if he was going insane he was torn to the point it was making his head hurt. Deciding to mind link Ysabel.
“Azula should be dressing up for lunch, please make sure there is a full spread in the garden she hasn’t been eating well and escort her to it when she is ready please,” He said through the link.
“Yes Alpha” was the immediate response.
He needed a shower as well, deciding to use a spare room since she occupied in his shower currently. Having an extra outfit brought as he took his time bathing. Red hair slick against tan skin as he began thinking of different ways to keep her safe… none of them sounded the best.
“I could inject her with wolfsbane and keep her under 24/7 watch, or mark her…. Maybe both.” He mused.
“I rather not drug our mate, marking her .. I can agree with, she might not like it much but it’ll help us be able to locate her if anything happens.” Sol said seriously.
Was he willing to risk her anger this soon just to make sure she was safe? Yes .. he was.. if he accepted her this way they had the make sacrifices and cuts another way. Just like now with the new information she won’t be able to go visit her family like they spoke of previously… She couldn’t find out she had brothers, she would try and free them and could possibly unlock another part of the Prophecy.
“At least we aren’t having to push her away any longer,” Sol chimes in once again sounding relieved.
Suppose that was one good thing that came from this decision, so they would mark her, make sure she stays safe, keep her from going home and finding out about her brothers… it was all falling into place. He could protect her and be her mate. Finally rinsing as he reached over and turned off the water, getting out to get off pulling in the white V neck t shirt and black ripped jeans with simple black boots. He wanted to be at the picnic waiting for her.
Moving out into the hall to take a familiar path to the garden the omegas had set up the perfect picnic. All kinds of food littered the yellow blanket as he sat down making himself comfortable as he worked on making her a plate. He just hoped she liked what he picked out for her… finally at the sounds of soft footsteps he looked up.
He didn’t know how she did it, but everytime he saw her she managed to take his breath away, she was wearing a dark grey sweater that hung off her shoulder, light skinny jeans with faded holes in the knees and white toms. Her beauty was something ethereal, seraphic , divine and wholesome. She was everything. His everything.
