Images of the palace still haunted me. Aris’ human servant, a boy who had served him for years, laid dead in the centre of the entrance hall. Aris hadn’t taken him with him, they would only do the first part of the journey by car, the second was much easier and quicker to do in wolf form. The boy’s name was George and he had died trying to stop them from entering the palace. The other bodies all belonged to guards, though most of the fighting had taken place outside and hidden in the cover of darkness from the human servants. It had been George’s scream that had alerted them to the danger and as us humans were good at, it had been his scream that caused them all to hide away when the warriors entered the palace.  The only good thing I could think of was that I had declined Zoey’s offer f
