Aris didn’t wait for me to open the door, it was as though he could instinctively feel which one separated him from his daughter. It was open within seconds, but for the first time in two weeks, I could not hear Eleanor’s cries coming from the room. Laureen and Rosella bowed for their king and then quickly hurried out the room. I gave them both a thankful smile and closed the door behind them.
