The Party

 Days and weeks have passed, and the grand week long celebration for the Alpha King’s birthday has begun.

  The Grayson twins managed to finish all the Queen’s dresses for the celebration a week earlier. And as expected, the Queen was thrilled. She was amazed at how beautiful the dresses turned out.

  Even the King was pleased of his wife’s dresses, that he invited the Grayson twins and Farah to join them in the banquet. The twins of course are excited. Being invited personally by the King is an honour.

  On the first day of the celebration, there was a series of tournament for the warriors. Winners will get promotion and cash prizes, while the losers will have a ticket towards the infirmary.

  For the Lycanthrope Kingdom, the tournament symbolizes their people’s strength. Men in the kingdom pride for their wolves and strength, and that way the females get to choose their lifetime companion. It is a tradition that has gone on for years and years to come.

  On the second day was the launch of the festival, wherein the kingdom will host a huge array of night markets, carnivals and shows. This is what the whole kingdom is looking forward to. Even the pups get to enjoy it. During this time, the nobles get to invest and expand their businesses. It’s a good opportunity to increase the kingdom’s revenue.

 Farah went on to the festival while the Grayson twins joined the royals and nobles for business talks. She has never been to this kind of carnival since she lived in slavery all her life. If it wasn’t for her new found friends, she wouldn’t experience such freedom.

  She walked around the carnival while eating some corndogs which is very delicious. She was watching a puppet show when Beta Devin showed up.

“Hey!”He called as he approached Farah.

“Beta Devin, hi.”Farah greeted.

“I didn’t see you in the tournament yesterday.”Beta Devin said.

“Oh. I’m just not really fond of those kinds of activity. I have witnessed a lot of violence to last me a lifetime.”Farah answered.

“Why? Wouldn’t you want to see who can be triumphant for your hand in marriage?”Beta Devin asked.

  Farah stared at the beta before she let out a nervous chuckle.

“It’s not that Beta, all my life I was mistreated and beaten, so such tournament isn’t that appealing to me, besides marriage is not in my mind right now.”Farah explained.

  Beta Devin can see great pain in the girl’s eyes while explaining, so he decided to change the topic.

“Why are you here alone?”Devin asked the human girl.

“The Grayson twins are with your majesties. They’re talking about business, something I don’t know anything about.”Farah said.

“Why? You work for them; you should be learning the ropes.”Devin said.

  Farah smiled.

“I’m still in High School Beta. I still have a lot of time to learn.”Farah answered, and Devin scratch the back of his neck, chuckling.

“I always tend to forget that you are still young compare to all of us here.”Beta Devin said.

“My friends would’ve loved to be here, especially Matt and Lana.”Farah said looking at the show.

“They can attend next year. Especially that the Duke Ramiro didn’t attend this year.”Devin told the girl.

“It’s critical times now in Aragon, with all the murders going on.”She said.

“So it’s true then, the murder of the few council members?”The Beta asked.

“Yes. The whole Kingdom is full of guards placed in every corner, looks like the council is at high alert.”

“That’s too bad.”

  The two of them fell silent and continued to watch the puppet show. After the show, Beta Devin accompanied Farah as she look around.

“Tonight is the banquet. Will you be going?”Devin asked.

  Farah nodded.

“Uhuh, the King invited us and it would be rude to decline. “Farah paused.

“Though I never have been in that kind of party, I am really looking forward to it.”Farah added.

“You should really go. I’d be looking forward to your attendance.”Devin said with his most charming smile.

  Farah felt her cheeks flared. This has been the first time a man with high position made her feel special.

  When Farah and the Grayson twins arrived at the palace ballroom for the party, the venue was buzzing with all the guests. Farah felt nervous since everywhere she turns she can see people of stature.

  She just followed the twins carefully, trying not to make fun of herself; especially she’s not used to wearing such beautiful dress. The twins made her a dress that is simple yet very beautiful. It was the colour of roses yet there was a hint of stardust. The cut and style is very simple, a sleeveless, sweetheart neckline empire cut dress. Farah’s hair was up in a crown braid and her face was bare with any make up, just lip tint.

  Many male guests have their eyes on the innocent beauty of the human since she came in with the vampire baroness, whether they are of noble blood, or the servants serving the guests. One of the noble guests that caught interest on the human was Silvanus Ross and Sylvia Ross, the vampire council twins that is known for their incestuous escapades.

  When the Twins and Farah went to greet the King and Queen, eyes followed them.

“Happy Birthday your majesty!”They greeted.

  Alpha King Mason grinned especially when his eyes fell on the human girl, which didn’t escape the Queen’s sharp eyes.

“I am very glad to have you tonight Baronesses Grayson.”The Alpha King said.

“It is our great pleasure to be invited in such prestigious event.”Mylene said.

  The Alpha King chuckled.

“I should thank the two of you for my lovely wife’s amazing dresses. I saw them and must I admit they do fit for a Queen.”Alpha King said.

“We only made the best your majesty, and the Queen is already beautiful.”Myriam said.

  The Luna Queen giggled.

“That is so sweet of you Baroness. Please do enjoy the rest of the evening.”The Queen said.

“Thank you, your majesty.” The Grayson twins said and the retreated to mingle with the other guests.

  As the twins mingle with the guests, Farah felt left out so she walked towards the corner of the ballroom. She stood there as she watches everyone else dance on the dance floor and mingle with other guests.

  She was fine being alone watching, but then two figures decided to approach her, the twins Silvanus and Sylvia. She immediately felt scared, since she knows what those two can do.

“Why do humans always have the same reaction?”Sylvia asked sweetly.

“And that made them more scrumptious.”Silvanus said.

  Farah took a step back until her back hit the wall.

“W-What do you want from me?”Farah asked.

  The vampire twins smirked as they advances towards Farah, and the human girl was filled with dread.

“There you are sweetheart.”

  The twins looked behind them, and Farah sighed in relief when she saw Beta Devin.

“Where is the dance you promised me?”Beta asked.

“And who are you to disturb us?”Silvanus sneered.

  Beta Devin looked at the vampire twins, and smiled.

“I am Royal Beta Devin, and the lady is my date. If you’ll excuse us, she owed me a dance.”Devin said, walking between twins and taking Farah’s hand.

“Please enjoy the party.”He said, leading Farah towards the dance floor.

  Silvanus and Sylvia are both seething that their prey has gotten away, while Farah on the other hand managed to feel relieved.

“Are you alright?”Devin asked the girl as they dance.

“Thank you Beta Devin.”Farah said.

“No problem.  I noticed that you were being harassed by those two.”He said.

“They have the worst reputation in Aragon. They are also friends with my previous master.”Farah said.

  Devin softly smiled at her.

“Well in that case, stick with me and just enjoy the night.”Devin said, leading Farah into a rhythm as they move in tune of the music.
