The Howling Labyrinth

1155 Words
In front of Farah stood a statue of a huge wolf that is howling to the moon, and the wind’s whistle began to sound like it’s calling a name.   ‘Farin...’      Farah cannot understand what she’s feeling. Why does she felt so attracted to the statue? Why is the wind singing to her, like it’s calling out her name?   The wind picks up again and it’s like its howling. Farah thinks it sounds like a wolf howling to the moon, like it was calling out to something, or someone. Farah looked up at the statue and she felt a pull towards it. She felt like the wolf was calling out to her.   And then all of the sudden, as if an unseen force began pulling her towards the statue. And as if her body has a mind of its own, it began to move towards the statue. And when the palm of her hand touched the base of the statue, a blinding light engulfed her. ********************************   When Farah opened her eyes, she was in dark place. She cannot see anything, not even the tiniest light is present. “Hello! Anybody there? Help!”Farah yelled, but her voice just ripples in an echo.   Farah held her arms up towards the front and sides, trying feel something. Then she heard the howling in the air again. It was quite weird that she still hears the howling in the air when she cannot feel any movement of air in the place where she’s at.   Then she felt another push, and her feet moved on its own. She began waving her arms left and right, to feel if there’s something ahead that she might bump into. And then she kept on walking while the howling in the air remained. ****************************   Meanwhile Devin was with the King talking to the vampire twins Sylvia and Silvanus. “It’s unfortunate that Horace and Valentin cannot attend.”The king said.    Sylvia smiled flirtatiously towards the king. “They are rather busy your majesty.”Silvanus said. “I heard of the murders, and I’m sorry for the loss.”The king said, looking at Sylvia’s cleavage. “Yes, it was really unfortunate that Rocco and Deborah fell victim of the serial killer.”Silvanus said. “Serial Killer?” The king asked, looking at Silvanus. “Yes, your majesty. Horace has a hunch that it is a demolition job.”Silvanus said. “Demolition job? By whom?”The king asked. “By the old and young Duke Ramiro of course.”The twins said in unison.   Devin narrowed his eyes on the twins. What are they on? Are they painting the Duke as the bad person in the eyes of the king? Devin asked himself. “With all due respect, the Duke is a friend of the king.”Devin said.   The twins looked at the beta with their cat like evil eyes. “Exactly. They are friends, and we don’t want the king to be associated with such man.”Silvanus said.   Devin sneered, not liking how these vampire twins are manipulating the truth. The King grabbed Devin’s shoulder, stopping him from attacking the twins. “Let them tell me what they want to share. As a king I need information.”The king said, and Devin cannot believe what his king and friend just said. “Tell me everything in my office.”The King said, winking at Sylvia.   Then the three of them walked away together towards the ballroom’s exit. Devin was seething in disappointment that the king has entertained those two. So he carefully followed them towards the king’s office.   When Devin got there, the door was slightly ajar. He walked towards it and peeked inside. Devin was horrified to see the king standing naked in the middle of his office, while the twins are both kneeling and taking turns of sucking and licking the king’s cΌck.   Devin was horrified with what he saw that he immediately leaves. He cannot believe that the king would do such thing. The Mason he knows wouldn’t listen to what others say, especially about his friends. And mostly, the Mason he knows won’t ever betray his Queen. Mason loves Renata very much, he wouldn’t cheat on her. But how could he do that now?   Upon his return to the ballroom, he was looking around for Farah but he cannot see her. Instead, he saw the Queen walking towards him. “Devin, have you seen my husband?”The Queen asked.   Devin does not know what to tell the Queen. If she finds out, she’ll be heartbroken. “Uhm, I haven’t your majesty.”He said. “But I saw you with him earlier.”She said.   Devin sighed. “He left to go to the bathroom your majesty.” “Oh. Well if you see him, tell him I retired early. My head is hurting like hell.”The Queen said. “Certainly your majesty.”Devin said, and the Queen left.   Devin has finally able to sigh in relief. *************************************   Back to Farah, she was walking straight for some time already and but she hasn’t felt tired at all. She thinks she’s going on circles but the path she was walking felt straight. “Hello? How long should I walk?”Farah asked no one in particular.   Farah sighed. “Walking nonstop is getting old you know.”Farah grumbled.   Farah groaned at her situation. She should’ve just stayed inside the ballroom or just went with Devin when he went inside.   Devin.   Farah remembered what Devin told her. FLASHBACK “The book also said that the place where the wolf handler and the girl were buried was the door way to the Howling Labyrinth.”He said. “Howling Labyrinth?”Farah asked. “It’s a place between space and time where the legend said that the girl and the wolf handler’s soul will one day meet again there.”Devin said.   Farah furrowed her eyebrows. “So it’s like their souls were lost and someday they will meet there?”She asked and Devin nodded. END OF FLASHBACK    He got her there with such story, but she thinks the royal beta got something to do with what’s happening to her. Did he set up a prank on her because she dumped him? “Okay Devin, you can come out now. This is not funny anymore!”Farah exclaimed.   But no one answered, instead the wind picked up. She finally felt the wind against her skin, and its sound is like its laughing at her.   Farah looked around, trying to locate where it is coming from but it was useless. Farah scowled at her situation. “A little light would’ve been nicer.”Farah mumbled.   Then all of a sudden tiny firefly like lights appeared and illuminated Farah’s path. When it was bright enough for Farah, she noticed that she’s back in the middle of the maze. Only the hedge was no longer just green moss and leaves, but it was also filled with white flowers. White hibiscus flowers adorned the green hedge with dancing fairy lights.   Farah smiled in amazement with such sight. She never thought the garden maze could be more beautiful. But she frowned when she remembered that she was walking earlier. Then how come she was still in the same maze? She also noticed that the statue of the howling wolf was gone, and in replace was a door, a shiny silver door with a moon design in the middle. “What the freaking hell?”Farah muttered.
