The afternoon tour of Intramuros, the old city, took longer than two hours, but Adam didn’t care. Erwin acted as chaperone and led the impromptu tour, making comments about the sites. Adam laughed a few times as Jojo cracked jokes while Erwin talked about the history of the last remnants of Spanish colonialism. Jojo had a biting, light-hearted sarcasm that endeared him to Adam. Adam marveled how short the Spanish people were, as he ducked his head often walking inside the buildings. When it came to touring a Spanish church, Adam had to admit he was impressed with both the inside and outside of San Agustin church, built in the 1600s shortly after Spanish rule was established.
