Katie had been looking forward to college for so long that she just could not lose the momentum, she was starting today. All the pageants and studying had paid off with a free ride. All her books, fees, and meals were paid for. Grinning ear to ear she began her first class, she could not wait to be a surgeon like her parents. After sitting in the lecture for 50 minutes, they were released. A young man chased her out of the room.
"Hi, I am Jason, I have not seen you before." He told her putting out his hand. She looked at him a minute trying to figure out why he chased after her. Slowly she shook his hand.
"I am Katie." She responded.
"Sorry, I am not a creep. It's just that, well, this is a class for 3rd years and I have never seen you before."
Surprised Katie responded, "Oh, I had no idea. This is my first day."
"Then how did you get in? Professor Stubin's class? He never takes first years and his classes always have a waiting list."
"Oh, umm, well, Uncle Max said I should take his class. He said I had all the classes required already completed." Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"Un-Uncle Max? OH, umm, sorry, I didn't know."
"Well, not my actual Uncle. I have been calling him that since I was a pup. My parents and he are surgeons and professors here. I have taken a lot of classes here and advanced college ones in high school. I have a lot of credits."
"Your parents?" He said watching her closely. "Who are your parents?"
"Stephanie and Jack Silver"
"Wow, amazing bloodline." He says admiring her.
"So, you are my partner." He said watching her.
"Partner?"
"Yup, next class we have to find one. Please be mine. I know we will get to do some great stuff." He says almost pleading.
Laughing she looks at him, "Why is that?"
"Uncle Max and your parents, he will give us the best stuff."
"Ok," she says still laughing.
"Do you have class now?"
"Nope, going to get some food. I am famished."
"Come on," he says grabbing her hand and running to the dining hall. He quickly sidesteps fellow classmates leading her to the cash where they are waved in. She looks at him confused. "Perks of being the Alpha" He whispers pulling her inside. He continues the pace until they are sitting at a nice table full of their peers. A plate of food quickly placed in front of both of them as the man bows and disappears.
"How?"
"I linked him on the way over. Hope you like steak."
"Everyone likes steak" she laughed. "But, I need to get some fruit."
"On the way."
Katie suddenly realized that everyone else is watching her. "Umm hi"
"Stop staring at her. It's creepy"
"But Alpha Jason,"
"Katie, this is Mike, Crystal, Adam, Nick, Maui, and Jen. They are all 3rd years. Guys this is Katie."
"How did you two meet?" Jen asked looking annoyed.
"Professor Stubin's class"
Confusion crossed their faces. "You are a third-year? I have never seen you," she mumbled as Maui cut her off.
"I have. In Silver's class" He said. "You are very smart, you were the only one to figure out the diagnosis. Pissed the battle-ax off that you came up with it so quickly. She was going to draw it out all day, we got to leave once it was solved. She never planned on you getting it so quickly."
"Nice" Mike said grinning at her.
"I heard about that, shocked everyone. High School girl." Nick laughed.
"Hate to burst all your bubbles, she is the 3rd year, Jane mentioned."
"Nice, we all heard about the classes you did while you were in high school. They gave you a free ride, heard you are important. Why?" Crystal asked
"No idea" Katie responded.
Jason just laughed, "Which pack are you from?"
"Silver Moon Pack,"
The smile back on his face. "Well partner, I am Alpha Jason Cresent of the Cresent Moon Pack.
"Are you all from the Cresent Moon Pack?"
"No, just Mike and Crystal, The rest are from Dark Howlers Pack," Jason responded.
Katie looked down, a bowl of fruit in front of her. She never saw anyone leave it. "Thanks," she said looking at Jason. Then as she began eating it. Feeling eyes on her she glanced in that direction to find Jason staring at her. He quickly looked away.
Jen watched Jason staring at Katie and got really annoyed. Here she had been trying to catch his attention for 3 years and this girl comes along stealing him away.
"Jason, we need to head for lab." Jen purred rubbing herself against him.
"Stop," He said physically moving her away from himself.
Shock crossed her face, he never corrected her before. "What?"
"Katie do you have Lab with Jenkins next?" He said looking at her.
"Yes, actually I do."
"Come on," he said grabbing her hand. He blatantly pulled her along with him.
As soon as they were away from everyone, Katie looked at Jason. "That Jen girl wanted to go to class with you. Why didn't you let her?"
"She doesn't take a hint. Not interested." He mumbled.
"Oh"
As they get into the room, Prof Jenkins states "Please grab a station. Supplies out." Katie quickly grabs her supplies out of her bag along with her manual. "I hope everyone remembers the seat you picked today. Look at the person at your station, they are your new partner for the semester."
Jason grinned at her. "Can't get rid of me now."
