2. Crazy Alphas

Nyala "You're banned from stepping foot in Glowing Hearts!" Teagan exclaimed, banging his fist on the desk. Corvin and Bruno were seated on his couch, observing as Teagan vented his anger on me. The smirk on Corvin's lips didn't escape my notice. He was enjoying my trouble. If it were before, I might have been angry, but this time, it was different. I knew there would be consequences for my actions. "You can't do that, Teagan." I shot back. "Of course, I will. You've ruined everything! I know you did it on purpose." Thankfully, he understood what I was capable of doing. He knew the kind of person he raised. I leaned forward, intertwining my hands together. "I had to, to stop you from selling off Rostledam." I answered. "And you think the stunt you pulled will make that work?" A chuckle escaped his mouth. "Alpha Ezekiel is a man of his word. He was quite furious and wanted me to bring you to him so he could punish you himself, but I had to intervene because I know it won't end well for you. But you know what?" It might have been better to face Alpha Ezekiel. That way, I could give him a piece of my mind and tell him to back away from our kingdom. I shot Teagan a questioning look. "He's still willing to sign the deal with us." "What!" I was quick to my feet. "You're still hell-bent on trading off Rostledam, Teagan!" "Why are you so concerned about a piece of Rostledam when you're in charge of Glowing Hearts?" Corvin chimed in as he walked up to us. I shot him a death glare. "Mind your business. It might be a piece of land to you, but it is the property that binds Aldmoor together. It is our wealth. Don't they have other places to manufacture what they want? Must it be our kingdom?" I spat. He wore the same smirk I despised so much. His words were always irritating. "Learn to control your tongue. Corvin is your brother. Talk to him with respect," Teagan chided. I literally rolled my eyes. If only Uncle knew what Corvin did behind his back, how he always tried to lure me to his bed. Is that what a brother was supposed to do? If I wanted, I could tell Teagan about it, but I chose to keep quiet. I can defend myself. After all, I've done it countless times. "Whatever it is, we can't sign the deal, Teagan. I don't care if Alpha Ezekiel is a man of his word. You saw what I did back there. I won't hesitate to do that to Alpha Ezekiel himself." As the words left my mouth, I felt something sharp on my cheeks, making me wobble back. Teagan's fingers were curled up with fire. He burned my cheeks. "This is what you get if you don't behave yourself." My cheeks burned. I slowly touched the area, and blood covered my fingers. I stared at Teagan, boiling with fleeting rage inside. "You can do whatever you want. Burn my skin, but I won't change my decision. I'm going to meet Alpha Ezekiel," I declared, aiming for the door. "Take another step out of this room, and I promise you Rostledam is gone for good." My foot came to an abrupt stop. It wasn't just the way his voice echoed through the room, but the way he had mentioned Rostledam. I knew he was dead serious. Teagan didn't make threats lightly. I closed my eyes and opened them again. The rage burning inside me, combined with the pain from Teagan's attack, wasn't solving anything. I turned back around. "Why exactly are you doing this, Teagan? I thought you had promised my father that you would keep this kingdom safe at all costs. That's what you told me. Why are you trying to destroy it now, and to the wolves that once caused calamity to this kingdom?" All those things I wasn't left behind. Grandma Amber narrated the story to me. Wondering who Grandma Amber is? She's my father and Teagan's mother. She's in charge of the Royal Witches. "You won't understand it now, but you will later. I'm not doing it solely for my sake. Why don't you sit down and allow me to explain what the deal entails?" “Father, there is not point in explaining anything to her since she's acting stubborn. We won't ended up in this mess if she hadn’t misbehaved earlier.” Corvin hissed his voice dropping with venom. I could only glare back at him before settling down. "So what you're saying is they want us to be the ones supplying the goods for them?" I asked after Teagan had finished explaining what Alpha Ezekiel wanted with Rostledam. "Yes, even though they'll own half of Rostledam, it will still belong to us. We won't stop sending harvest to the neighboring village and the orphanages. By forming an alliance with Alpha Ezekiel, we won't only profit, but the people relying on us will benefit more. Alpha Ezekiel will use our plantation to produce more efficiently. Isn't that interesting?" "Why didn't you mention that earlier?" I said, feeling embarrassed. It was indeed a great plan. Though I didn't like involving the wolves, the proposal had its merits. “Obviously you were too full of yourself. Father you should have allowed Alpha Ezekiel to teach her a lesson. I'm sure if he breaks one of her legs, she will think about her life in a better way.” “Why don't you think about yours instead. What achievement did you bring to this kingdom!” Teagan shouted pointing a finger at him. “But father-” “Leave us!” He spat. Corvin passed me a death glare. The one that shows the discussion isn't over between us. Like he can do anything to me. Teagan was right. He hasn't brought any achievement to the kingdom if not for sleeping around with women. That was his achievement. Back to the matter at hand, I let out a low hiss, remembering how I splashed water on Alpha Ezekiel's sons and slapped Alastair. Yes, I slapped him after he kissed me. Warren was lucky enough I didn't slap him also. But I had to flee from the room before they attacked me. It was inhuman of them. Okay, I'd forgotten they're wolves. But I was angry. How could they take my first kiss like that? I wanted it to be with someone I loved, not a stranger and that two Alphas. Two mistakes. Splashed water and slapped. Great, Nyala. If Teagan knew, he'd do more than burn my cheeks. We were still on the discussion when the door was kicked open and Corvin stormed in again. “Didn't I tell you to leave.” Teagan commenced but Corvin didn't stop striding towards us. “We have bad news.” He said. “What news?” Teagan asked. Corvin cast me a look. “Alpha Ezekiel wants an apology. And he wants her to be the one to do that.” He added. I was quick in jolting my face towards him. “You must be joking!” “Do I look like I am?” He spat back. "Nyala?" "Yes" I was instantly snapped back to reality. A look of seriousness danced on Teagan’s face. "Do you now realize the crime you had committed? If you had listened to me, we won't have to result to this" My brows curved up in confusion. "Result to what?" I asked. "Now we have to convince Alpha Ezekiel to go ahead with our deal" "I thought you said he's a man of his words?" "He is. But his sons also have impact on his decision. The two sons said they won't agree to the decision unless we apologize" Corvin chirped in. I didn't know when a chuckle escaped me. "Apologize? The person that was supposed to say that should be their father right? Isn't that what you said just now?” "It's the same thing. Whatever decision Alastair take, Warren abide by it, so also their father. He follows their advices. So I think you should start making your way there" Corvin's tone was dimmed visible of mockery. He was enjoying it. "Me? Why?" "Because that's what the sons wants. They wants you to be the one to apologize and we're good to go" "Wow," I exclaimed with a chuckle. If not for what I did to Alastair, I'd have thought he's not quite right in the head. But I know why he wants me to be the one to apologize. They had their reasons for saying that. "And what if I don't apologize?" "You know what will happen. Our deal. Think about it. This is the best we could do to grow Rostledam. As you said, it is our wealth" This time it was Bruno who spoke. He had been quite busy indulging himself in reading. Bruno is the kind of person you'd call a book nerd. If you don't find him in the library, you'll find him in his room surrounded by books. Not just any books. History books. Bruno is a completely different person from Corvin. He rarely displays his powers, which is air bending. "Great. Just great," the three stared at me. They say whatever you do, there would always be consequences. I had made matters worse in the plan to save Rostledam. Now I'm going to bear the consequences. I stood up. "Are you going to Alpha Ezekiel?" Teagan's voice resonated in my ears. "No. To the ones who demanded an apology," I answered. With that, I turned on my heels and made my way out. The cool outside air embraced my skin. My body was used to the cold, so I didn't bother wrapping my arms around myself, even though the breeze stung my bruised cheeks. I'd take care of that later. I heaved a sharp breath. "Let's do this, Nyala," I mumbled, moving forward. I didn't know where to start looking for them, since I didn't know which room they were lodged in. Just in time, I spotted Molly. "Hey Molly. Where are you going?" I asked, getting her attention. "I'm coming from the Alpha’s son's room, delivering their dinner." Great, that had slipped my mind. Molly works in the kitchen. "What about you? Where are you off to... Oh my God! What's that on your face?" Molly exclaimed, her eyes widening. "My face. Teagan and I had a bit of an issue. Don't worry. I'll take care of it later. For now, take me to their room," I said, pulling her by the wrist. "I guess he used his powers on you. That means things are pretty bad." "No. Things are pretty much good if I take care of it well. Don't ask questions. I'll tell you when I sort it out." It is just to say sorry and that's it right? "Okay, Lady Nyala," she said. We made our way to the guest house. It's a quiet and neat place, where Teagan renovates every year, from the interior to the exterior. We passed three doors before arriving at the fourth. "This is their room. I don't know what you're going to do inside, but don't create a scene," her eyes squinted in concern. That made me chuckle. Everyone knows Nyala. "Don't worry. I won't." "See you later then," I watched as she walked away before I balled my knuckles and knocked on the door. "Who is that?" came a deep voice, which I instantly recognized as Alastair's. I could swear I felt my heart race at the sound of it, bringing to mind how his dark eyes had attacked me. They weren't good for my composure. Same goes to of Warren. They have the same eyes. Dangerous. I cleared my throat before speaking up. "It's Nyala," I said, my voice coming out as a murmur. Why did my voice have to betray me like this? Silence followed for about a minute, making me think he wouldn't answer. But then his deep voice broke through again. "Come in." I took two calming breaths before turning the doorknob. "Oh my God!" I exclaimed upon entering, my eyes immediately drawn to Alastair's bare chest on full display. My mouth went dry at the sight. His body was adorned with tattoos all over, serving as a second skin. "Never seen a shirtless man before?" he said, snapping me out of my trance. I had forgotten why I came here in the first place. I closed my slightly agape mouth, forcing myself to focus on him. Damn his compelling eyes. "You know there's something called privacy," I retorted, trying my best not to gawk at his torso, which bore a tattoo resembling a bird—or was it a dragon? "What privacy are you talking about? We're in our room. We can walk around naked if we want to. Have a seat." Warren appeared out of nowhere. He was dressed fully unlike Alastair who was showing off his body. "I'm not here to sit," I replied almost immediately, mentally chiding myself to stay focused. "I'm getting straight to the point. I heard you guys want me to apologize?" My words sounded more like a question and my eyes darted to the two. A smile curled up on Alastair’s lips, and he took a step forward. I swallowed hard, my throat suddenly dry. Why couldn't he just get dressed? Did he have to flaunt his well-built body? "Yes. Don't you think you should do that? I'm sure your uncle explained everything to you. I heard you wanted to protect Rostledam at all costs." Great, he even knows that Teagan is my uncle and not my father. And then he's aware of my plan to save Rostledam. What an excellent way Teagan has of sharing information. I couldn't help but smile. "Yes, you're right. But I don't think you should be the one I should apologize to. The issue was with your father." I said trying to keep my composure. “Whatever we decide is okay for him.” Warren chirped in. He had occupied the sofa. Taking a sip of his drink. Alastair took another step forward, and instinctively, I took a step back. He mirrored my movement, closing the distance between us. What exactly does he want? The close proximity was wreaking havoc on my ability to think clearly. "What involves my brother and father, involves me. And we didn't disagree with the deal because of what you did at the event." A chuckle slipped out of me. "Ah, the slap," I said, raising my eyebrows. The smile that had been on his face vanished, replaced by what I would label as anger. "You're quite the spitfire." he seethed. "I'm glad you know that. You crossed a line, and you're bound to face the consequences. Here, we don't entertain womanizers." In an instant, he yanked me forward, causing a gasp to escape my lips. My palm landed on his chest. The rhythm of my heart seemed to double, the tension between us palpable. His gaze was intense and dangerous. For the first time, I feared the outcome of my actions. "You're supposed to be on your knees begging for our forgiveness." Even with his penetrating stare making my head spin, I mustered the strength to answer him. "Over my dead body. I'd rather walk on hot coals than be on my knees. You can't decide the future of Rostledam, because it belongs to me. You or your brother cannot take it away from me!”
