The new girl rumors, there are always rumors about the new girl, this I know because in my time, I had spread some of them but this was on another whole new scale. ATI way of doing things were more extreme, way more extreme and sadly just the kind of extreme that would make me get hurt. The new rumors were fueled by the teachers refusal to give out my name and instead of the students thinking that I am some one important, they starting thinking that I was maybe a disgrace to the realm. Disgraces were halflings or changlings or those whose parents literally shamed their race and were unable to get away with it. When you maleage to get away with it, you are regarded by another name, praises are sung about you and everybody forgets the wrong deed that you did. As in the case of my mother. “So I am laying my bets on the fact that your parents, both of them are powerful. That will explain the reason why your power levels are very high.” Finn started, ignoring the fact that I did not want to talk about the rumors but then again, he was not really referring to the rumors, he was just trying to know who were my parents, another thing which the whole school was curious about. “What’s the big deal about the power levels anyway, if I had fallen in the center, I am sure this much attention would not be on me so I am wondering what the whole thing mean.” I exploded facing Finn who shrank from my anger. “Wait, what do you mean that you don’t know?” he asked confused. “Everybody knows, it is almost illegal for a child not to know about the basic thing in this world.” “Well then, call me illegal because I don’t know and I need someone to explain to me.” I ran my hands through my hair in agitation. This whole thing was getting at me. Being pointed and whispered about was one thing, being mocked openly and asked weird questions which half of which I barely understand and the ones I do understand are laced with insults was taking its toll on me. “Hmm, how do I go about explaining the reason why you seem like a big deal?” Finn mused out loud. “Start from the beginning,” I tell him, sitting into a chair at Finn’s table in the study. “Anywhere else and I will be just as confused as the moment before you started.” “Power levels are like how powerful a person can be that is being summed up. From heritage to type of skills to the reasoning and everything but it doesn’t just refer to you presently but also how you will be in the future although most times, your power level can be predicted and when it is predicted, a tour guide is assigned to you. I am sure that Cirdan mistook your ignorance and innocence as part of your power levels and that was why he assigned Trixie to you but you are opposite from Trixie. “Power levels are divided into four classes, low which Trixie falls into which is 1-10. Medium which is 11-20, high which is 21-29 and the Elites which is 30-35. Low are guarantee not to have many prospects for the future, nobody really wants them and then we have very regular Medium, almost every other average person and then we have High which I fall under which we are taken seriously and most times, very few of us get to cross into Elites and then we have Elites, that is where there is a twister. Elites are just as the name suggested. In this school, with over a thousand students from the five majority race and other minor race, there are less than ten Elites students and most of them falls on the 30 step marker. We have only three 31 which are the soul sisters, you really don’t want to get on their nerves and I would bet a lot of money that they are the cause of your rumor and then we have only one person who is in the 33 steps. And that person is Cirdan. You just came and moved to the second highest-ranking person in the school. Everybody is curious and for the teachers not to disclose your information, they think that you are hiding something. And teenagers are fond of filling in the blanks all by themselves.” Finn ended but my mind was still stuck on the fact that Cirdan was the highest and I was second. No wonder I was such a huge deal even when I was trying not to be. “Iris.” Finn shakes me as I shook my head. “Still they shouldn’t make rumors that her hurtful, who do they think that they are?” I voiced, holding tight to the part Finn had mentioned about the Soul sisters being involved in the rumor generating. Finn looked uneasy as he stared around and shook his head at me then his voice lower. “You should pick your fights well, you should face the whole school about the rumors than you face the soul sisters, they are powerful and they can do a lot of things to you which will not be nice. It would be best to ignore all they do.” “But you said they might be involved.” “Yes but they are way more knowledgeable about their power than you right now. You don’t want to continue on this road. I suggest that we drop this topic and don’t bring it up again. There is already a huge possibility that this conversation might get to them but to avoid making that possibility bigger, I suggest that we stay away from the topic in total.” Finn stated. “I am interested in this, can’t it be reported to the principal, clearly I am not fearful of them.” I tell Finn only for his color to pale more. “I am not having that conversation with you.” He stated and when I opened my mouth to complain, he talked over me. “Truthfully speaking, which teacher or student do you think you might have a crush on?” Cirdan was the first person my mind flashed to but then again, I was not going to let anybody thinking that my mind was flashing towards him. “Really?” I asked about the subject change. “Most girls tend to choose Cirdan and stick to him for more than six months before they realized that they will never have a chance. Are you one of them?” He asked. I still wanted to talk about the rumors but with the subject change were closer to the truth, I deviated to the topic. Nobody needs to know anything. With a sigh, I proceed to lie my head off about my attraction to Cirdan, I mean who was Cirdan? It wasn’t until later when I was cornered by The soul sisters that I realized that I had a lot of reasons to be afraid and with the look in their eyes. They were going to show me most of those reasons.
