Epilogue: Kie

366 Words
The boys are fighting and squabbling about something again. It sounds like Chris tries to walk away and Jaden stops him and yells, “What in the god’s names do you think you are doing?” “I’m asking her to be my wife. What else?” I grin at Trinity, who rolls her eyes. “Look at them go. I swear they are like two-year old’s arguing over their toys,” Rin says. Then in a falsetto, “Mommy, Jaden is being mean. He took my toy!” She takes a breath, “I don't know how you handle it. It's a good thing you're taken or we might have war on our hands. I glance in the direction of the yelling, “Should I tell them? To get them to quiet down. Or wait?” “Go for it, Kie. I’ll be right behind you with the camera.” We laugh and walk toward all the noise. Their bickering quieted when we got near them. “Guys,” I start, “I have big news.” Chris and Jaden simultaneously say, warily, “What is it?” “I’m pregnant.” “What?” They yelled. Both of them sound happy. Chris grabs me up in a bear hug. When Chris lets me down, Jaden picks me up in a big bear hug too. “How long?” Chris asks. “Three months. I found out a week ago,” I say. “Good. Can we name the godparents now?” I nod and say, “My picks are Jaden and Rin.” He picks up my hand and puts it to his mouth, his little boy grin melts my heart, “Mine too.” Trinity hugs me. And I hear Jaden and Chris doing their man hugs. Then Jaden picks me up in another big bear hug. “Congratulations, little sister,” Jaden whispers to me. I nod to him and grin before being pasted back to Chris. “Thank you, Baby Girl. I love you,” Chris breathes in my ear. “I love you too,” I whisper back to him.
