CHAPTER 3
~Breathe joy and exhaling love~ RjS
"Sorry to disturb you, Your Highness. The King has arrived."
Fear started overcoming my whole body. It was a lot of pressure knowing that father had finally arrived. I haven't seen him for years because of his busy schedule but he never spoke to me about it. He minds his own business and I mind mine, it’s just that simple. I stood up and breathed deep to calm myself. I glanced at Jocelyn and she bowed her head and I walked outside. I’m wearing the crown, I am a royalty and I have to show my father what I’ve become or else I will forever remain under his words.
My heart pounded hard on my chest but I walked quietly and gracefully. Seeing the King himself is such an honor his time and efforts are very limited. I took a glance at the hall, I am happy for my guests are indeed having fun. The crowd turned their attention to the King, the ruler of the biggest kingdom. I stood at the edge of the hall waiting for him. The King has two of his acquaintances on his side. The crowd bowed their heads as my father, The King, took his every step. The room is filled with silence and tension. The powerful King's footsteps were heard all over, every single corner of the hall. I bowed my head as he met my eyes and it brightened up.
"Thank you for coming, King Alexander." I said and lifted my head up and my father nodded.
"Happy Eighteenth Birthday to you, Allyha." He said and hugged me, I was surprised by his actions and I hugged him back. His scent resembles the burning wood of winter and mint, something I always miss.
"Thank you, King Alexander," I said. My guests continued to cheer and chat with everyone. I want to just sit as well but that would be impossible for times like this.
I glance at the man behind him. The other one left before everyone noticed. I saw him walk through the crowd and gone. I did not study their features because I was focused on my father. But the man, who just left somehow, chills my spine. It is a weird sensation crawling to me. The man who left before anyone noticed but I saw him. It was like my eyes were directly searching for his frame and figure. All I know is he's tall and that 'man' was a lot bigger than the man stood in front of me. In front of me has blond hair and turquoise green eyes, a rank lower than me but is powerful. He bowed his head and introduced himself,
"It’s an honor to meet you, Princess. I am Kurt Martin Gomez, the first beta of Crystal Moon. It is nice to meet you." He said and gestured a hand.
I nodded and ignored his hand, "Thank you for coming, Kurt." I said and smiled. I don't know what words he used to introduce but, I will find that out later. I don't like things I don't know and that's far from myself. I shall be knowledgeable and well informed or I will seek for myself. I know they say that curiosity kills, I prefer that than being ignorant. In this world I live knowledge is power.
My father, The King has been welcomed with a loud applause as he spoke. His words are powerful and encourage his subject, he is indeed the King. He is a brave man as he fought endless battles and won losing ones. He is strict and yet always worried about anything that concerns me. Though everyone thinks that he is somehow self-centered, he is just a normal person as well and alcohol is out of his control.
He opened the door and I got in. He pulled the chair and I sat down quietly trying to figure out why he called me here. He slides the curtain and the night view outside the castle shown. The opened the windows and the refreshing night breeze entered, brushing coldly on my pale skin.
"I always liked the view here, with Emerald." He breathed deep and looked at me." So, how's the life here at the castle Allyha?" He asked. My heart really calmed down when he spoke like that. It seems like everything is going to be fine.
"My life here was doing fine. It's getting really boring to be honest." I muttered and he chuckled.
"I like honesty. You want to explore outside?" He asked. He always knew what I wanted. I told him how much I wanted to go out but all sounded just the same. He makes sure that everything I need will be here and that’s unfair. I am his daughter not the Kingdom’s prisoner.
"Yes. I really want to." I said with perseverance.
He nodded and smiled, still staring at the night view. My father always looks sad when he’s with me. I can feel that he loves me dearly but it seems like I am not enough to cover the pain when my Mother died. Silence overcame the room until I decided to break the silence.
"My older sisters are allowed to go outside. All my life I spent it here at the castle. I want to wander outside too." I said a bit loudly, "That's not fair." I added in a low tone. I know I am a different case than my sisters, Joy and Mae. We are only half-sisters as the father is forced to take up marriage for the sake of our kingdom, Vena.
"I understand," he turned around and faced me, "I'm here to inform you about the arrangement." He said, I narrowed my eyes and he continued, "The Alpha King wants you to be his queen as soon as possible. He informed me and I sent a letter of agreement. He’s here to fetch you." he said and turned around again. I don’t know how to react if this is a joke, this is not funny.
"Who's the Alpha King? Why would he want me?" I asked in curiosity. The word 'Alpha' wasn't new to me. I've been studying a lot here at the castle. Though I knew that word, I never heard it used.
"The Alpha King is the ruler of all territory and packs that your eyes can see. He is the most powerful, more powerful than me. And yes, he wanted you because you two are Mates." he tried to explain it to me with a calm tone and yet I know he is superbly worried.
"What? Father, you are the most powerful ruler. You are the King, the king of Britannia, the largest empire. Who would be more powerful than you?" I asked. Is this a prank? If yes, I repeat that is not funny at all.
"I am the most powerful only for the human eyes. I was the first beta of his father Marcus, I am the Alpha King's servant. A decoy to deceive the human eye, they are not allowed to know our existence. This is a rule written long centuries, forbidden secret from our ancestors that must be kept for the sake of all.” he said.
What is he saying? This is getting really difficult to understand. Everything is clouding up and I am really trying to actually suck things all at once right now. Father looks really serious about it so I stood up and I faced him.
"Father, What secret is it? And why would you deceive human eyes, we are humans, aren't we?" I asked and he slowly shook his head and forced a smile.
"No. We are not humans, not like them. They're greedy and think only for themselves. Our clan trusted them once but it never resulted in any good. Humans are the reason why your Emerald is not with us anymore! They're the reason why we hid our existence. The former Alpha Kings had passed these rules on generations." he said. His voice contains fury and anger. “Humans cannot coexist with wolves. There is always something that will keep the two species apart.”
"I've been waiting for this time and I knew that if I do this your future was in great hands."
"Father, calm down and speak more clearly. I beg your pardon but explain it from the start." I said and his breathing calmed.
The door slowly opened and the two of us looked at the door. Kurt peeked and smiled at me then to father. Kurt noticed the tension and he bowed his head for the bad timing. Father nods at him as a permission to barge which is very rude. Kurt opened the door widely and a man stepped in and my heart beat hard again.
