VII chapter

AFTER SOME TIME

AT THIRD PERSON'S POW:

A winter month was going pretty quickly, so it was close time for the winter holidays. When it was left the week before the holiday, Adam walked closer to Caroline and saw her talking with her classmates.

-Hi, Caroline.-Adam said.

-Hi, Adam.-Caroline said and smiled.

-Can we talk?-Adam asked.

-Sure.-Caroline said.

Adam smiled and walked off with her. 

-What is it?-Caroline asked.

-Do you know what you are going to do this weekend?-Adam asked.

-I have not thought about it.-Caroline said.

-Maybe you want to go to my family's summer house?-Adam asked.

-It sounds like a good idea. When do you want me to come to your place?-Caroline asked.

-You do not have to. I am going to take you, and my friend will drive us there.-Adam said.

-When we return home?-Caroline asked.

-Next day. We are going to have a whole day for ourselves.-Adam said.

A weekend came pretty fast. It was a beginning of a winter holiday too. For the students, it seemed like a short time. It was better than not getting any holiday at all. 

-The holiday only going to last six days?- Adam asked. -It is way less than for other students.

-It's a little better than having no holiday at all.-Caroline said and smiled.

-For me, a few days without studies sounds better than studying every single day.-Adam said.

-I mean, we will be spending the weekend together.-Caroline said.

-You are right about it.-Adam said and smiled.

At the weekend, Adam's friend took him and Caroline to his parent's summer house. When they got closer to the house, Adam noticed that someone is inside the house. Adam muttered something and opened a house door.

-Hello, brother.-Adam heard Dom's voice.

--

AT THE SAME TIME

AT ADAM'S POW:

I looked at Dom, surprised for a few moments, and then I smiled. I did not expect to find him here.

-Hello, Dom.-I said.

I looked at Caroline and smiled.

-He is Dominic or Dom. He is my brother.-I said.-I need to talk with him.

-I understand. I am Caroline, Adam's girlfriend.-Caroline said and smiled.

After that, I watched how Caroline walked away from us, and I looked at Dom.

-What has bought you here, don't you have to be in the BK section?-I asked.

-Nothing special little bro. I got a notice to work as a guard in this section.-Dom said and scratched my hair. 

I moved his hand and smiled.

-You do not have to do this, and I missed you.-I said.

-I missed you too, little bro.-Dom said and smiled.

-I know that you want to talk about something else too.-I said.

-I want to tell you that there is a chance of Catherine being alive.-Dom said.

I looked at Dom, confused. I remember about her dying, but I never went to her funeral.

-You went to her funeral, Dom.-I said.

-I know, but I got a note. I recognized her handwriting and I have a small chance of her being alive.-Dom said and handed me that note.

I looked at that note and smiled.

'Dear Dom.

If you think that I died that day, I haven't. I had to fake my death for some reason. I now live in a purple section, because they accepted me like GIM or TTV never did. If you wish to talk to me, you can find me there.

Catherine.'

-So she is not dead? That is some great news for you.-I said.

-What do you mean? Even if she is alive we are living in a different section.-Dom asked.

-I know, but you can get chosen to work there.-I said.

-I know, but how are you so sure that is her real letter?-Dom asked.-I am now going to the BK guard's house. See you later, brother.

-See you next time.-I said and smiled.

I watched how Caroline walked closer to me, and she looked pretty sad about this situation.

-What is wrong, Caroline? Come closer.-I said.

-You never told me that you had a girlfriend before.-Caroline said.

-She was my brother's girlfriend. I could never call her my girlfriend.-I said.

-Can you explain me, since I am a little confused.-Caroline said and smiled a bit.

-I can. I wanted her to be my girlfriend, we were friends or dating weird way. She left me for Dom and then left for another guy. Dom loves her a lot.-I said.

-She killed herself?-Caroline asked with a confused tone.

-We thought that she did that after that guy rejected her.-I said.-You look cold.

-I am fine, but we could go inside.-Caroline said.

-I agree.-I said and took her inside of a summer house. 

That house had a TV and a fireplace so we spend our evening eating food and watching movies. It was a pretty nice time that I was finally able to have it with her. 

-If she tries to get you, she is going to lose.-Carline said.

I giggled and kissed her forehead.

-I love you Caroline, and I never going to leave you. That is a promise.-I said and smiled.

-I never going to leave you too.-Caroline said.

Our weekend went pretty fast, and we had soon to return back home. We knew that we have only two weeks before Christmas, and it was some amazing news to everyone. It was until our teachers decided to mess it up.

-They are crazy! I do not want to study before the holidays!-Violet said.

-I do not want to write trying exam week before the holidays.-Rock said.

-It is a rule and you must do it as a student.-Teacher said.

-But.-Kim started said.

-No buts! It is a rule made by higher rank people and you must do it.-Teacher said with an annoyed tone. -One good thing is that this mark it won't be written down since it's a tryout.

-So our holidays will be a mess because of it.-Rose said.

-We have to do it.-Adam said.

-Easy for you, smart boy.-Kim said.

Adam sighed and gave Caroline a supportive look. It seems that teachers do not want our holidays to be simple. All of the students started getting ready for Christmas and none of the students noticed that this celebration is going to be different than before.

AFTER SOME TIME

AT THIRD PERSON'S POW:

All students parents who are working at the ruling part had important things to do. It was also part they could not spend as much time with their children as before. Adam and Caroline did not feel too sad about it since both of their parents were controlling ones. Adam and Caroline decided to celebrate Christmas and meet under the town's Christmas tree. It was until Caroline's mom decided to talk to her.

-What you want, mom?-Caroline asked.

-I want to talk about your leaving.-She said.

-Mom, I already have done all homework and I want to spend some time with my friends.-Caroline said.

-You are going to leave this room when we finish this conversation.-She said.

-I understand, mother.-Caroline said and sighed.

-I want you to concentrate more on studies and not meetings with Adam.-She said.

-I understand mom, but we are friends and that is not going to change any time soon.-Caroline said and left the room.

-My mother forever thinks Adam isn't the right couple for me, even though she realized she loved my dad when she was a middle school student.- Caroline growled. 

After that, she grabbed a jacket, a vest, a hat, and a gift for Adam from the hanger and walked out the door.

The town was lit up for Christmas, and there were many benches around the Christmas tree without small kiosks with mini-cafes that were crowded with parents, children, and other residents of the town. When Adam came there, it was only getting dark and only a few lights were on, and now, a few hours later, the town square was drowning in the magical darkness of the lights. They all drank hot chocolate together and had a good time, but Adam was most interested in seeing Caroline and congratulating her on Christmas day. Suddenly he sees her coming and fades away because he realizes that more than one will spend this Christmas.

Caroline immediately felt Adam looking at her. Then she saw him approaching, waving.

-Hey Adam.- Caroline said to him with a warm smile.-How are you?

- Good. Merry Christmas.-Adam said.-Merry Christmas.

While saying this, Adam pulled out a small box - Adam's gift to her. In search of this gift, he even went through a few shops in the city until he found the right one.

- Thank you. - As she said this, Caroline opened the box and almost cried out with joy when she saw what was inside.

In a small box lay a heart-shaped pendant with an asterisk inside and the initials of Adam and Caroline.

-Oh Adam.- Tears appeared in Caroline's eyes. Then she hugged him.

-I’m glad you like it.-Adam said and hugged her back.

- Let me fasten it. - When Adam said that he took the pendant out of the box and then he split it into two pieces. 

- Wow, I didn't notice that.-Caroline said.- Wait. I will have one side, you will have the other, so we will always be together.

-I think that is a good idea.-Adam said and smiled.

- Here it is. Now let’s go have some chocolate and beat up a Christmas tree.-Caroline said.

- All right. I also like this idea.-Adam said and smiled.

Audrius has already tried to lead her towards the Christmas tree, but she stopped him for a moment.

- Wait. Here's your Christmas present.-Caroline said.

-Thank you. -Adam said before opening it and seeing the blue bracelet inside. 

-Let's go.-Adam said and smiled.

The evening by the Christmas tree went great. No one noticed how quickly midnight came, and that the rain was already shining with glowing fireworks.

At the end of the celebration, Adam escorted Caroline home, and later on her way to her house she thought she was so happy to meet her.
