Accalia POV
"Wow!" My jaw dropped as I came to the last couple of feet down the mountain.
I never in my wildest dreams expected to see a temple hidden between the mountains, at the bottom of the waterfall.
I was in awe, the spectacular beautiful building stood all proudly built out of pure white marble.
Who would have built this graceful place here?
I heard Nova and Roger passing me by, but I didn't give them any attention.
Liam had jumped into the crystal clear water and had shifted back into his human form.
As soon as he was done, I would go and have a quick bath, before I would enter the pure temple. I had this urge and need in me. I needed to give praise and thank the Goddess for always keeping her hand over me... maybe just maybe she would bless me... or at least guide me...
I headed down to the pool, took a sip of the delicious water, and watched as Liam made his way out of the water.
Goddess, he was one handsome specimen... I wouldn't mind having one of my own...
I shook the thought off, I made a promise to myself that I would only look for my mate after I brought Dean's murderer to justice...
As soon as Liam was out of the water and made his way to the forest side of the temple, I shifted back and got into the water.
The crisp water was heaven on my sweaty and heated body... and for once I felt relaxed...
I took my time to have myself washed and then tried to get my blond hair washed and clean.
When I felt that I was clean enough, I took my clothes and gave them a good rub, hoping to get them clean as well.
I got out, dried out my soaked clothes, and put them on.
I then headed to the temple and admired the full-bloomed temple garden.
Do the wolves in this pack still come here? Do they maintain the garden? Whoever did know what they were doing, the garden was in full bloom, and winter was approaching...
The garden led me towards the white marble stairs, and I hesitated at the bottom step, seeing the two huge white marble wolves guarding the stairs.
What if the Moon Goddess doesn't want me here..? Would she curse me? Would she be angry at me for leaving my pack?
Will she forgive me?
Worry started to consume me, and I panicked.
What if..?
"Accalia, calm down," Lidia mused, "it's only a temple, and I have a feeling that Mother Moon is expecting us..."
"You are right," I said, taking a breath and taking the first step.
I can do this... I tried to motivate myself but with every step, I became more terrified...
When I finally reached the last step, another two huge white marble wolf statues greeted me at the open entrance.
My gaze moved over the tall marble walls, finding all kinds of symbols written on the walls.
On top of the entrance was a symbol of a full moon, and a greeting in Greek, welcoming you to the Moon Goddess temple...
"Here goes nothing..." I whispered to myself as I took a deep breath. I grabbed the last threads of courage I had left and stepped into the temple.
My jaw dropped to the floor, finding the temple beautiful and modern.
The foyer was huge and wide, and candles were lit all around.
In the center of the foyer stood a fountain, with a statue of the Moon Goddess, and two wolves at her sides, one craft out of black marble and another out of the pure white marble I have ever seen.
I took a closer look, and my hand automatically moved over the two wolves...
Most packs kept a similar fountain in their packs, with the four main wolf breeds facing different directions.
My mind raced to the one we had, situated in our gardens. It wasn't big, but it was still spectacular. Our fountain held four howling wolves with a statue of the Moon Goddess in the center.
Each wolf resembles a wolf species, and they pointed to the direction which they originated from.
The Spirit Wolf pointed North, the Lycans East, the Werewolves West, and the Creepers from the South.
Every wolf species was different... Werewolves looked like normal wolves, came in all-natural colors, and were powerful in strength and speed. They could easily siphon magic around them.
Lycans were half man, half beast, they had a bad temper, and could easily destroy a town in minutes in a temper tantrum.
The Creepers were a shy breed, they were the demons of the night. They shifted earlier than other wolves, had a distinctive horrific smell, and looked like walking corpses. They were poisonous, with larger canines, and distinctive star symbols on their fur... most wolves stayed clear from them, knowing that if they didn't have the needed DNA, they could easily die from a drop of their poison.
My mind raced. No one has seen the spirit wolf in years... there are legends that she once cleared the earth of all evil, and is still walking the earth today... but no one knows who she is and where she roams.
My gaze snapped back to the fountain, and I scrunched my eyebrows together.
"Why only two wolves?" I asked no one in particular, "We always have four..."
"Because of who they are..." Lidia answered.
"Who are they..?" I asked, confused.
"Don't you recognize them..?" she asked, keeping her gaze on me.
I focused on the two wolves... they looked so familiar, yet so unknown...
Something must have clicked in me, and my eyes widened when I recognized the two wolves...
"They are the Royals..." I gasped in surprise.
"Yep!" Lidia said, wagging her tail.
"This is Queen Luna Elizabeth's wolf," I said, as my hand moved over the beautifully crafted wolf, "and this looks like King Alpha Alexander's mighty beast..."
The two wolves' eyes were made out of blue sapphires, and it gave the illusion that they saw right through you.
My gaze moved toward the statue of the Goddess... and for a moment everything around me became perfectly still... the soft lavender scent enveloped me, and I had this fuzzy feeling inside me...
"Mother Moon is blessing us..." Lidia whispered.
A smile reached my lips, and a shiver ran down my spine as I imagined her standing next to me.
"Will she allow me to find my brother's murderer?" I asked, keeping my gaze on the statue.
"She will bless us with more than that..." Lidia became quiet for a moment as if she was listening.
I turned my attention to her, but she was quietly sitting with her eyes closed.
"What's happening? I asked.
"Mother Moon wants you to follow Liam everywhere he goes tonight. She says that you need to keep the faith... not everything is what it seems..."
I bent my head, "thank you, Mother Moon. Thank you for keeping me safe all these years... I will do as you wish and follow every command you give me..."
It had grown dark when I exited the temple.
A small fire danced on the opposite side of the bridge, and I headed there, finding the group laughing and chatting.
Nova was sitting in Roger's lap, and Roger was smiling from ear to ear.
My gaze moved over his distinctive features... Roger was the total opposite of Liam, even though the two men were at a similar height and built, Roger was blessed with the most spectacular golden hair, which would make any girl envy him. His personality was playful and warm, and he enjoyed teasing everyone around him.
Liam growled at Roger from under his breath and Nova stiffened in Roger's lap, but that didn't keep Roger from going at his friend.
Roger cleared his throat, and became serious, "Dude, are we going to leave soon? The moon is up..." Roger asked, gesturing to the full moon hanging low against the mountains.
"Yeah, let's get going..." Liam answered, "will the she-wolves be waiting here?"
"I'm coming with you," I said, cutting Liam off and taking a dominant posture.
If he refuses, I will find a way to follow him.
"Okay... any reason why?" Liam asked.
"I went rogue to find someone. If he is part of this pack, I can finish the job and return to my life and pack!" I answered coldly.
"Very well, as long as you don't give our positions away, or interfere... I can't risk them seeing or catching us," Liam said.
"As you please," I answered.
Did he really believe I would obey him if I found Dustin?
Ten minutes later, I followed Liam through an underground temple tunnel into an unknown pack...
