CHAPTER 2

1034 Words
Christie's POV I tried my best to run as fast as I could, but the guards caught up to me and half dragged me back to my wicked foster parent's house. I screamed and cried as they dragged me on the floor, not caring if I got hurt or bruised. "Where is the good-for-nothing woman?" I could hear my foster father scream from the front of the mansion and as soon as the guards dumped me at his feet, he slapped me hard, with anger oozing out of him. "You ungrateful piece of junk. Are you thinking you can escape me? Think twice." "Lock her up in her room till the men arrive to take her to the Lycan king by dawn." My foster mother said as she placed her hand on her husband's shoulders. "Don't waste your time on her sweetheart. She's of no good use." Tears stung my eyes as I was roughly pushed into the basement and locked up. I cried my eyes out and I didn't know when I fell asleep right there curling in a ball, due to the cold and damp basement. By the time I opened my eyes, water splashed all over my face and I sprang up. "Get your body out of my house. The Lycan's men are here to take you away so get out of my sight." Foster mother yelled at me and I hurriedly sprang up to my feet and rushed out where my bags were being loaded into the vehicle. "Thank the Lycan for buying such a worthless good from us." I heard my foster father say to them as I walked towards my ride out of this place. I didn't like it but it meant freedom from this family for me. I don't know what it is going to be like with the Lycan King Damien and it might be worse than this but no one will be there to tell me I didn't have any parents to take care of me and I was living off them. "Why on earth will King Damien even want to buy her? She is nothing but worthless." I heard Abigail scoff as I was pushed into the carriage by my foster father. "Let's not care. There will be additional space for a better maid in the house." Her mother replied as the carriage started moving and we drove out of the compound. I just hope and pray my life will be very much better in this new place I am going to. Even if there is no good treatment, there should be good food and a good place for me to lay my head on, unlike the damp basement I had to sleep in without a bed for years now. "How many hours will it take to arrive in Crimson pack please?" I asked the coachman who was focused on the road. "I'm sorry I should…" "We should get to the pack by sundown Miss Christie." He replied and I hummed with a small smile. No one had ever replied to my questions or even acknowledged me once. I didn't know when I fell asleep on the comfortable coach seat and by the time I woke up, I heard loud gates closing behind me and I looked out of the carriage with fear. It was sundown already and the moon was up. It looked like we arrived in the pack castle already. I slowly stepped out of the carriage and just then, a middle-aged lady came to me and bowed. I bowed back in respect and she just looked at me narrowly. "Let me take you to your room miss." She said in a very fluent accent and I could tell she was not really from here. She swiftly turned and I followed her as I pulled my small bag with me. The whole castle was made with black and glossy bricks and the hallways we passed through were not brightly lit. We walked ok for what felt like five minutes before she stopped in front of a room and pushed the door open for me. "This is your room." I stepped into the room and it wasn't overly too much but it was well decorated and beautiful. All my life, no one even created a room for me and took their time to decorate it for me. Tears wanted to roll out my eyes but I was able to control it as I looked back at the maid with an appreciative look. "Thank you very much for taking the time to show me my room and preparing the room for me." "You can settle down and clean up. In a few minutes, a maid will be here to take you to the king. He requested to see you immediately after you arrive in the castle." She said before stepping out and closing the door behind her. I quickly walked into the bathroom and was surprised to see a bath already prepared for me. I took a quick bath and dressed in my best clothes. Although it looked old and shabby, it was still the only cloth I had that retrained its color. Just as I styled my hair and looked at myself in the mirror with a smile, knowing I might be heartbroken after the meeting with the Lycan king but I had to smile while I could. A knock interrupted me and I rushed over to the door to step out since the woman from earlier told me a maid was coming. The maid looked at me from head to toe but didn't say anything before leading me towards where should be the Lycan's place. We soon got to a large black door where two hefty men were standing and the maid turned away, leaving me there. The men let me in and I felt chills down my spine with every step I took. I didn't know what was going on but I could sense a whole different energy, dark and mysterious and at the same time, intoxicating. A pair of eyes stared at me as I approached the only seat in the room and I didn't know when I growled. "Mate."
