William dragged Marcus’s lifeless body through the portal, losing his footing as soon as he stepped out. His knees gave in and he dropped along with his friend, his head hurting so badly that he wished for death to come faster. He had used more energy than he could afford, and he could already feel his body struggling to compensate. Staring at the inky sky, he wondered if Annabel would care if he died right now.
