Lucifer
I knew something was wrong with Ivan and I needed to talk to Austin and Lucy soon but not before I made sure my Ava was safe.
Although I transported us into my mansion that didn't block the blow by Ivan which was directed to Ava. Dread ran through my bones thinking about what would have happened if I wasn't fast enough.
I stood in the living room of my mansion with Ava in my arms. Her little movement made me snap out of my thoughts.
I looked down at her tiny frame in my arms taking in her surroundings. A small smile appeared on my lips looking at her curiosity.
" My lord," Linda said as she appeared in the living room. I sigh when Ava looks at her and then at me with her eyes widened.
The moment I was hoping to never come has finally come. She began to thrash in my arm.
" Let me go!! She said, her voice was determined and from the look on her face she was ready to go away from me. Unknowingly the gold in her tightened and looked at her as my possessiveness came over me.
" Please," she said, her voice quivering and unshed tears forming in her eyes.
I didn't realize I was scaring her until I saw her trembling in my arms. I cursed myself mentally as I walked towards the couch before placing her softly on the couch. I backed away from her. All the while she was watching me fearfully.
" Lord?" Linda said, bowing her head.
Ava's eyes snapped in her direction and she stared at Linda in a which looked like a hurtful expression.
" What was that? You didn't do your job properly, Linda. I am disappointed with you. You know what could have happened if…. I tried closing my eyes as the scenes back there flashed. I shuddered thinking what if Ava was hurt back there?
" Lord, you are hurt," she said, raising her head.
" Li," Ava breathed out. Linda went stiff hearing her say that name. I sighed knowing that it is all my fault I shouldn't have given her permission to bring her out knowing all too well I have enemies more than I can count.
" Prepare my room for Ava," I said. I have to go and meet Austin and the new council for today's incident.
" What?" Ava snapped at me. I looked at her fuming at me. I narrowed my eyes at her sudden outburst.
" I want to go home," she said, her voice held firm.
" No, you are not," I said, feeling anger rising in me.
" I am not staying here with you," she said, glaring at me.
" Or any of you," she added, looking at Linda.
" When I say you are staying, you are staying," I said through clenched teeth. I know she is my mate but she is being unreasonable here. After going through all those things back there how could she think of going back? Ivan must have gathered every knowledge of her by now. I just can't let her walk away from me knowing what kind of danger lurks outside. And they will use her to get to me.
" I don't know what you are. But I am not staying here with monsters," she said. I flinched at the harshness in her voice. I shot a glance toward Linda and she bowed at me before walking away.
" Look, you can hate me all you want but when I say you are staying here there is no other option," I said. My voice was low and calm, I felt my beast clawing inside to come out and mark her as his own. I sighed, trying to control my beast.
" I won't stay here and that's final," she said as she stood up.
" Lord," Linda said before I could say anything to her.
" Take her to my room and make sure she stays inside," I said in my cold tone. I have enough on my hands already and I don't want anything extra right now.
" I will deal with you later if we ever meet again," she said, turning to face Linda. A sad and hurtful look flashed before her eyes.
" For now I am going home," she said and turned her back to us as she walked towards the front door. My sanity snapped at her action and before she could reach the door I stood in front of her fuming in anger.
Finally, my beast came to the surface making it hard for me to stay in control.
" You f*****g listen when I saw something," I growled at her.
She looked at me in horror as she stared into my eyes as beads of sweat started to form on her forehead. I knew my eyes became completely black by the look on her face.
She took a few steps back from me to stay away. I walked towards her in a fast stride and grabbed her by her wrist and started to drag her towards my room which was upstairs.
" Linda," she said as she tried to break free from my grasp.
" Leave me alone," she said.
" Take care of her parents," I said before lifting her in my arms again as I climbed the stairs. She went still in my arms hearing my words.
" Wh… what are you going to do with them?" She asked if her voice broke at the end.
" stop. No… no… no… please stop," she said as she continued hitting me on my chest.
" Linda please don't," she screamed as tears rolled down from her eyes freely. I felt really bad to see her like this.
I walked through the hallway before stopping in front of my door. I pushed it open before entering with sobbing Ava in my arms. I can't let her know everything right now. It is too dangerous for her. I know he will come for her sooner or later. I saw the lust in his eyes. Just thinking about that makes me want to rip his heart out. That bastard.
I walked to my bed and placed her gently on the mattress. She looked at me with tears in her eyes. My heart clenched to see her like this. I sighed and decided to shorten this as soon as possible.
I knelt in front of her and placed my hand on her knees before looking at her.
" I don't want to put you in danger, Ava. You are…. I trailed off finding the right words to explain to her why. I know she will freak out knowing my identity but sooner or later she will know.
" Please let me go," she said in a mere whisper.
" I can't, they will come after you. I can't lose you, my sweet Ava. I will tell you everything tomorrow, I promise. Just trust me," I said. After a few minutes, she managed to calm herself down.
" How can I? Tell me. You are a stranger to me. I don't know anything about you. We just hardly met a few hours ago," she said, taking a sharp intake of breath. I stayed quiet not knowing how to respond to her. She doesn't know me the way I do about her.
" My parents, wh… what ar… are you going to do with them?" She asked if her lips were quivering as she stared at me with those innocent eyes, now full of fear.
" Nothing, I am going to protect everyone dear to you. Rest assured ," I said as I rubbed her knees gently.
" Please rest assured my sweet Ava. I will not harm you in any way. I need you to rest tonight and we will talk tomorrow," I said and got up. I know she needs space and I am going to give her that. I want her to be mentally prepared for what is going to come tomorrow.
Before I could walk away she grabbed my hand and a delicious spark went through my skin where she touched it. I closed my eyes basking in the feeling. I turned to face her.
" Where are you going?" She asked. I was taken aback by her questions.
" I have work to do, little angel," I said.
" But do not worry, I will not leave you alone. I am in the library," I said and pointed toward the door of the indoor library. She nodded and let go of my hand, I sighed, missing her touch.
I bent down and placed a soft kiss on her forehead before walking into my library. I can't delay things before it goes out of my hand
