NOEL
Today was the Christmas Eve party and we were all expected to be with our dance partner. I felt excited about the fact that I’d be celebrating my birthday too, meaning that I would finally get my mate today and I hoped it would be none other than Drex.
Drex and I have been dating for two months. We were supposed to attend the Christmas Eve party together because he is my dance mate but he messaged me in the 99th hour to inform me that he would be coming a bit late, so I just had to go alone.
The dance would soon commence but he was yet to come, so I strolled outside, with hopes that I would see him.
On getting outside, I heard the voices of my bullies. Oh no! How did I forget I was supposed to be careful to not bump into them? The Triple R’s as everyone would call them, were the most ruthless boys in school. A lot of us were scared of them and they mostly kissed their feet just to be in their good books.
They were so ruthless and cared less about others. I had become their prey the day I refused to do a dare from them. Even with their fearful looks and bad personalities, a lot of girls in school still gushed over them, some even prayed to be noticed by them while some did their best to wear revealing clothes that would attract them to the boys.
But not only the triplets bullied me, but girls from school bullied me too because they were jealous of the fact that the boys were my neighbors.
"Hey little Omega, come over here!" I heard one of them call out to me the moment I tried to slowly get out of there, clearly belonging to Rain. I let out a gasp, my body shaking in anger and fear. It was time for them to taunt me.
Well, there was nothing I could do other than go back home. My parents are mostly never around and whenever they are aware of that, they tend to wait for me at the front of our house, just so they can trouble me. If I dared to go against them, they would make life worse for me at home.
I sluggishly walked over to them and their imposing stature made me feel less of myself. Soon the air filled with their laughter and I wondered if I had anything on me that made them react in such a manner.
“So tell us, why do you look so anxious?” Rain asked, placing his hand over my shoulder but I quickly shoved it off and he scoffed.
“What do you want from me?” I directed the question at three of them, shooting glances at them.
Roman scoffed, “I’m guessing you are waiting for your lover boy. Well sorry to inform you, he’s not interested in you and today, he is going to bring his main lover and dump you.”
This was them trying to mess with my head but I knew better. Drex would never treat me this way.
“You can keep dreaming, Drex loves me and I love him too. He just has matters to attend to, he will be with me shortly.”
Angry, I turned around and tried to walk out but I was roughly dragged back. This time it was River that grabbed me. He was looking at me with anger in his eyes.
Well, that has always been how he looked at me. He always acted mean towards me and he was the one I was mostly scared of.
“Ugh,” I winced in pain when his grip on my elbow tightened. “Please let go, you are hurting me.”
He left me at once. “What makes you think you can walk out on us like that,” Rain’s voice came but I was too busy staring at River, that I failed to respond to me.
“This omega b***h is becoming saucy each day, we may need to show her her place real soon,” Rain said with a smirk, his icy-blue eyes staring through me, his fingers playing with his slicked-back, brown hair.
"Say whatever you want, can I go now?!" I snapped in anger, my voice sounding lower than usual. They all exchanged surprising glances like they didn’t expect me to talk back. River shrugged with a nod, using his eyes to pass messages to his other brothers, which I could understand.
"Okay, you can leave, Noel. Go and find Drex but the dance begins," Rain said and I was taken aback. Why did he let me off so easily?
Roman also agreed to me leaving, except for River who was staring coldly at me with his grey eyes and it made me weary. He was the one who stopped me from leaving before and so I wondered if I could leave without his approval.
“Leave,” Roman shushed at me, but my eyes remained fixed on River. He immediately lowered his eyes in a calculating way and just when I expected to hear him say something, he turned around and walked away, his brothers tallying along.
"Weird?" I muttered, confused about what had just happened. Why was he so strange? He would act possessive sometimes and become distant and uncaring the next moment.
I shoved the thought away, realizing that the boys just let me off the hook without a reason. Something within me told me I would pay for this at home.
I looked over to see that they were long gone, so I continued searching around for a sign of Drex. When I was sure that he wasn’t there, I pulled my phone from my pocket and dialed his line but he was not taking my calls.
At that moment, a black limo pulled in front of the school but I saw something strange which made me freeze. Drex came out from that car with Amelia, the principal’s daughter. He was holding her like they were a couple and I let out a gasp, finally getting out of my trance.
I ran over to him, with a demanding look. “Why have you been ignoring calls?”
He paused and bent to whisper into Amelia’s ear. She left after that and I just stood there with so many thoughts running through my mind.
Were the triplets right about what they said?
“We are over!” He blurted looking into my eyes and I let out a small laugh, trying to convince myself that it was either a joke or a dream.
But he started walking and that was when I knew this wasn’t a joke. I quickly grabbed his hand and he turned.
“I’m so sorry Noel but our relationship was never real. I do not love and I never have. Amelia and I have been dating each other, long before you came into the picture. She’s my true love and you are just a nobody to me,” he added, piercing my heart in the most brutal way.
Moving backward, I opened my mouth to speak but I was out of words, I ended up stuttering and leaving my words halfway through.
“If you will excuse me, I don’t want to keep Amelia waiting for long,” he muttered, about to leave a second time.
“Why? Why did you pretend to love me,” I quizzed, stopping him in his tracks.
“The triple R’s. They dared me two months ago to make you fall in love with me, then date you and break up with you on Christmas Day, right before the eve dance,” he revealed.
“What!” I exclaimed. How wicked could these boys be? Now I understood what they meant earlier when they said Drex would dump me.
Without wasting time, I stomped out of there, in search of the boys. I found them at the back, being dirty and playing around with the girls.
“Ouu, look who is here?” Roman announced, sizing me up. His other brothers looked my way, Rain had a smirk while River, as usual, didn’t seem to care.
“What did I ever do to the three of you to deserve such maltreatment? You even go as far as trying to ruin my love life.”
“What are you talking about?” Rain quizzed.
‘Oh come off it, I already know what you three did.’
"One of you told Drex to not be with me." I fired at them but they looked at each other and began to laugh. I felt so annoyed and humiliated. Some students were already gathered around us, making the evening really exhausting for me.
Roman finally chose to answer. "None of us tried to do anything. If you got dumped by your boyfriend, you should find a way to suck it up, instead of looking for who to blame.” He let out, accompanied by a mocking smile.
Frustrated, I stood there, watching them walk out on me. Well, this is what I get for being an ordinary omega with nobody to stand for me.
The man whom I thought was my boyfriend and lover, was only a tool used to break me. The tears I had been trying to hold back, began to roll down my eyes.
Murmurs from the students filled my ear and I took to my heels, running anywhere but here.
Maybe I was born to be cursed. I just had to accept my fate, I meant nothing to anyone. I was just a poor pathetic helpless omega.
