Relieved he wasn’t about to ask me something else, I can’t help but drop my shoulders as I relax at ease.
“Uhm, of course, though it would have been better if you asked earlier. Finals are just two weeks after Halloween, and in other to at least get somewhere you're going to have to come to my place after school every day. And maybe we could even meet up in the library during free period.”
He grinned in relief, nodding in appreciation, and then pulled me into a surprise hug. Frozen, I did nothing but tense in his arms. Unsure of how to react to the hug.
I thought my awkwardness would make the hug end but when he clutches my body closer, a tremor of tingles ran down my spine as he does the unexpected and buries his face to the side of my neck.
His lips brushed against my skin and my eyes widened in alarm, a pulsing throb started to build in a place I never thought could react like that and I swallowed dryly.
I felt my heart practically skip several beats in my chest and wondered if he could hear it, my stomach tightened with butterflies, and I mentally willed myself to pull away and stop these horrible feelings.
But as it seems, my body has a mind of its own.
“Thank you.” He mumbles, his breathe heating my neck.
Shutting my eyes I felt so embarrassed when I had to fight back the moan that almost slipped past my lips.
Oh hell, what the hell is wrong with me?
It felt like a decade before Zack finally pulled back, my flushed face and tingling body causing me to drop my head shyly as I cursed up a storm in my head.
His warm hands cupped my cheeks and raised my head slowly, lifting my chin high enough for me to look into his blue eyes.
Gasping in shock at the look of desire on his face, the throbbing began to pulse even more.
I sucked in a breath and blinked several times when his head began to drop, his gaze drifting from my eyes down to my lips. He was so close to actually touching his lips to mine when the class door banged open, starling us apart.
Simultaneously, we turned to stare at the amused teacher standing at the threshold with a knowing look on her face as she gazed at the two of us.
The thick tension in the air faded into a sea of awkwardness, and I could only wish the ground could open up and swallow me whole as the uncomfortable feeling of being caught washed over me.
“I would leave, but I have students coming in 5mins.” She stated, and that was pretty much my breaking point.
“It’s fine, we were just leaving.” I squeaked, rushing out of there before anyone could say anything else.
I ran down the crowded hall for the girl's locker room, grateful I have math class right now. All those equations are just the dose of reality I need to get over what just happened… or what could have happened.
I sat at the very back and pretty much had my head in the clouds for the past 20mins after class begun, trying my hardest to convince myself that what happened meant absolutely nothing.
Not to Zack, and most especially not to me.
I thought I'd done a pretty good job of that, until gym period and I had to face Zack again. Slipping into a noisy basketball court the first person I spotted was Katie, mostly because she sat on the bleachers flirting with a couple of guys who gave her their undivided attention.
Heading forward it didn’t come to my notice that Zack was seated with his friends just a couple of seats down from Katie, and when I unknowing walked past their group I was startled when a larger hand grabbed onto mine.
Turning around, I stiffen in surprise to see Zack gazing down at me with a determined look on his face.
Uncomfortable with the attention I’ve gotten from his friends, I blushed and snapped with an impatient frown. “What is it?”
“We never settled on what day we’ll start my tutoring lesson?” He asked, giving my hand a firm squeeze when I tried to pull away.
“Today, you can come over today once school is over,” I responded curtly.
Tugging my hand free, I quickly ran up the bleachers and tried not to die when his friends began to wolf whistle and cheer with large grins mirroring the triumphant one on Zack’s face.
“Hey!” Katie smiled and pulled me down to settle by her side. She dismissed the guys surrounding her with a wave of her hand and they dispersed in disappointment. “How did it go, what did he want to talk about?”
Shrugging, I fiddled with my fingers. “He just wanted me to tutor him on biology before finals, he’s coming over today so if you’re going to be around you’d probably have to spend most of your time in front of the TV since I’m going to be busy.”
She raised an inquisitive eyebrow, regarding me with a sceptical frown. “And that’s all that happened?”
“Uh-uh, yeah why?” I ask, feigning ignorance.
“Because judging by the blush on your cheeks more than that happened?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” I denied, shrugging.
She studied me for a stretch of silence and surprisingly decided to change the subject, and despite my relief, I felt slightly nervous by the fact that she easily gave in when her curiosity was tingling for answers.
