CHAPTER 16

1240 Words
Judith POV I throw myself at the bed after a long hot bath. My body felt relaxed, but I am still feeling miserable. I checked my phone for the hundredth time, hoping that there would be a call from Elijah, but there was none. Seriously, didn’t he notice that I was gone? Think positive, Judith. Maybe he lost his phone somewhere. Ugghhh… I groaned to myself. That’s bullshit! I was just tossing my phone to the other side when I suddenly heard a noise from my window. Then it suddenly rings back inside my head, about what Elijah’s cousin just told me earlier at the diner. “Why don’t you look outside your window tonight? Who knows, he might show up.” That can’t be possible, right? Elijah Penn wouldn’t be standing in front of my door, asking for forgiveness. I got a bit curious, then I went to the window to check. I think I heard something falling on the ground, like a loud thud voice. I opened my window to check, but there was no one there. Maybe I was just imagining things inside my head. I was about to close back the window when I suddenly saw his bike come closer. My eyes went wide after Elijah pulled over. He took off his helmet, and I quickly ducked down from the window. Shit. I haven’t closed the window! What if he noticed me waiting for him? That would only make me look even more pathetic. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Elijah was here. I should get the door and at least let him in. I went to the first floor and opened the door before he could even knock. His hand was still hanging in the air.   “Judith?.. I—“ he looked surprised to see me. “How did you?—“ I put both hands at my hips. “Just cut the bullshit! What do you want from me, Elijah?” I cut him with a cold tone. He looked taken aback by my choice of words, but it seemed to provoke him. He pushed me into the house and closed the door behind him. After he locked the door, he trapped me to the wall, in between his arms. “Listen, I won’t deny that I am making a bet with Steve.” He said. I was shocked. I thought he would say that it was all a lie. “Then it means it was all fake from the beginning? How could you do this to me? You could’ve picked a better target.” I said with a hoarse voice. My tears were at the edge of flowing down from my eyes.   “Because I want you.” He said, touching my face. “Why me then? I am not as pretty and popular as Gina, and she’s clearly crazy about—“ He pressed his index finger onto my lips. “That bet was only an excuse.” He then told me with his deep voice. I furrowed my brows at him. “What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked him back. It was always ups and downs with Elijah. He can’t be playing with my heart like this. “I’ve been wanting to talk to you for a while, Judith…I mean, ever since I was placed in the same class with you.” My jaw dropped to the floor. “But then I was such a coward… I was scared you might not be interested in me.” He said with a serious expression. It sounds ridiculous and unbelievable at the same time. I would be really pissed if this is only a dream. I pinched his cheek. “Ouch, That hurts! What are you doing?” Elijah asked. I let out a small chuckle at him. “I’m sorry… I just want to make sure that this isn’t just a dream.” I then told him. He then burst out laughing at me. “To be honest, I also noticed you at class,” I admitted. My face must be blushing by now. His face lights up. “Really?..” he said. He turned us around and then pushed me down on the couch. He hovered above me. “I hope your parents weren’t at home.” He said, whispering at me. I bite my lower lips while shaking my head. “No, but they should be back in an hour,” I told him. “Perfect..” He then said before he leaned down and pressed his lips onto mine. My eyes went wide in shock, but I didn’t stop him. I never thought that my first kiss would be like this. ************ Elijah POV After our little conversation at the diner, there’s one thing I have to do tonight. I had to make them two meet with each other. So this is the plan. I would try to grab her attention so Judith would check her window. That’s why I was now standing in front of her house. I looked at my watch. Elijah should be here in another five minutes. I climbed to her window on the second floor. I looked down after I got up there, and I was shaking a bit. Holy mother. I had to admit this was the first time I realized that I was afraid of height. This is all for you, Judith. Only for you. I repeated the same words inside my head. I was still holding my breath when I was knocking at her window. I knocked twice until I saw her opening the curtain. I tried to hide, but I only ended up losing my grip. I fell to the ground with a loud thud. I groaned in pain. I think I just broke my right hand. I dragged myself to her backyard because I was afraid she would see me down there. Not long after, Elijah came and stood in front of her door. I could still remember exactly how troubled I felt that night. And I already did the right thing. Judith had to know that I was there that night. My plan seemed to work as I saw Judith come to open the door. I watched them arguing in the living room from the backyard window. I had to admit I was half curious and anxious myself. What if I only screwed things up even more by doing this? But then all of it vanished into thin air the moment I saw Elijah push her down on the sofa. I couldn’t help but chuckle at the younger version of myself. What a dirty-minded bastard. They had their first kiss there. It was a different version of what truly happened before between Judith and me. If Judith didn’t open the door that night, she ended up avoiding me for a week. We were actually had our first kiss after I talked to her about the bet, but then I ended up getting slapped by her. Yeah, it was far less romantic than what they had right now. Maybe she got mad because it took me that long to confess to her. I let out a relieved breath and smiled after that. They could do anything they wanted for the rest of the night. I would leave them at this point because I seriously need to see the doctor right now.
