Judith POV
I can’t believe this. It’s my worst day ever! As if discovering about the bet wasn’t bad enough for me, now I had to be kidnapped by a stranger. He sat on the driver’s seat beside me and started the engine.
“Who the hell are you?” I asked him, struggling to open the car door, but it was locked.
He suddenly pulled me into his lap. His grey eyes bore into mine. Now that I looked at his face closer, he somehow looked familiar to me.
“Please, Judith. Can you listen to me first?” He said in a deep tone. I then finally decided to give him a chance to explain himself.
“I am Elijah Penn, your husband from the future.” He said. My eyes instantly went wide. Come to think of it, he really looked a lot like Elijah. Only a bit more mature. The man in front of me had the same facial features as my biggest enemy. The only difference is he had a light stubble grown on his jaw, and I have to admit he looked hot. Focus, Judith!
“W-what? Elijah Penn? The one in my class? The basketball captain?” I asked him back in shock. I never knew that time travel was real. I thought it only happened in a movie.
His smile grew wider as he nodded at me. “I came here to find you.”
My eyes widened at him. “This is insane. Do you think this is funny?” I asked him snarkily. “Tell me, what is your relationship with Elijah? Are you his cousin? You look a lot like him.” I guessed, crossing both arms in front of my chest.
He blew out a breath. “It’ll take time for you to understand this. Just forget about it.” His hand then went to my face, softly wiping my tears. “What happened? Why are you crying?” He then asked, looking really concerned.
I looked down, hiding my face from him. “That’s none of your problems,” I said. He instinctively hugged and enveloped me in his arms. “It’ll be fine from now on, Judith. I promise you.” He whispered at me.
He said that he was my future husband. Can I believe this man? How is that possible.
I pushed him back, and I just realized that I was still sitting on his lap. “I’m sorry….” I said, moving to the passenger seat. He let out a hearty laugh after that. “Why’d you have to be sorry? I am the one who pulled you to sit on my lap.” He said with a teasing tone, leaning closer into me.
My heart picked up its pace as our face drew closer. His outfit might be a bit loose, but I could still tell that he had a fit, muscular body underneath it. I was stunned by him.
“Whatever, can I go now?” I asked him again. No matter who he was, it was still not cool for him to keep me locked in his car. He looked defeated by my constant cold behavior. It was when my hand touched the doorknob my stomach growls loudly. Damn it. I skipped lunch because of what happened earlier. I was too angry and sad. I kind of forgot that I can’t skip lunch because I didn’t eat breakfast this morning.
He grabbed my hand, pretending not to hear it. “Do you want to have some lunch first? I am feeling a bit hungry.” He gently offered. I am glad he didn’t choose to embarrass me by laughing at it. “Okay, only if you’re paying.” I then said. He was laughing again. “Sure, no problem.” He said, revving up the engine.

Elijah POV
She is adorable. Just as I remembered her to be. “Ummm… Can you please stop looking at me like that?” she said while finishing her milkshake. I cleared my throat and looked away to break the awkwardness. It’s been a while since I saw the high school version of her. She looked young and innocent.
Judith looked like the type of girl that needed to be protected, and honestly, I didn’t mind being her hero. She was totally my type.
“I’m sorry, do you want anything else?” I asked her. She shook her head and blushed. “No, this is enough.” She said. “It’s been two pm already. Why haven’t you eaten your lunch?” I asked her.
She looked hesitant to tell me, but then she said. “I was supposed to had lunch with your cousin.” I frowned at her. “You mean, Elijah?” I asked her back.
Now that I think about it more, I shouldn’t expose my identity to her. That will only confuse her and make it even harder for me to get close to her.
She slowly nodded. Then it suddenly came to me. This must be the day she finds out about the bet.
It was still fresh at the back of my mind. I was looking for her everywhere on that day. How shitty I felt after that. We both ended up not talking to each other for a week.
Judith sighed deeply. “I was too naïve. Thinking that he might feel something about me.” She said with a sad expression on her face.
She’s wrong. I DID feel a lot for her. If only she knew about that. Despite my look and popularity, I was actually a coward. I wasn’t good at showing my feelings for her.
“Do you know what is even more pathetic? A part of me hoped that he would come to me and say that it was all just a misunderstanding. I want him to deny that he was making a bet with Steve.” She said.
I was taken aback. That night I was actually waiting at her door. I was about to knock, but I didn’t have the gut to do it. Judith never knew I came to her house. I’ve always thought it’s better to give her space when she’s mad. I never knew she wanted to hear some explanation from me instead.
I shoved the french fries plate to her because I knew how much she liked it. I hoped it could make her feel better, at least until tonight. “Let me give you a piece of advice.” She looked up at me.
“Why don’t you look outside your window tonight? Who knows, he might show up.” I told her with a smile.
