ALEJANDRO’S POV.
“If I tell you everything do you promise to protect me?” I can see the fear in her eyes.
Meaning she might be innocent, but not that tattoo on her neck. The tattoo on her neck belongs to some other family.
“Spill.” I order and keep my gun.
“If you are not going to keep your words on protecting me, then I prefer to die now.” She bargains.
“If you do not talk, you will be dead before you know it and I can bet that you do not want to die.” My voice comes out calmer than I expect and her demeanor changes from what it was to a cold one. You can tell she is well trained.
Come to think of it I know who’s family that tattoo belongs to, but! I want her to say it. I want to hear her spill the words.
“I am just a dancer.” I can tell she has just said the truth, but I want more than she has just said.
I did not spare her life for me to hear her to just tell me what she does. I want to know each and every information she has and why she’s here. Has Marino suspected that we would make a move? Did he track me? How did he send his woman after me?
“More.” I raise my voice and she flinches.
“Since you want to know. I will tell you everything you need to know, but you need to make me a promise. You having a gun tells me you are like Angelo. You both give the same aura, yours just seem to be calmer. I can tell that you still have a heart. Right from the second you noticed the tattoo, if it was Angelo I would have been cold dead by now. So, I want you to make me a promise that you will protect me. I am the only one who knows most of everything I am about to tell you and once you make some kind of move, he will know I have broken the omerta and you know what happens. It is either you kill me now or Angelo kills me.” She starts and I move to sit to calm her down.
“I will protect you.” I promise and she nods.
“Some years ago, my husband borrowed some money from some loan sharks has he had claimed. Little did I know that he borrowed money from some crime boss, Angelo Marino. When he came for his money he didn’t only come for his money, he also came for my husband’s life. He killed my husband right in front of me and showed some contract where I am the guarantor if my husband couldn’t pay back, I would have to pay. I had not even a thousand dollar. How was I going to pay five million to someone unplanned. He looked at me and saw me as a beautiful woman who for he could overlook my husband’s debt on a condition that I sign an omerta and become his personal dancer.
That asshole had dug up every single information about me. He knew where he could find my parents and even my older brother and with that I signed up and I have been used by him ever since then. He treats me more than w***e. He lets his associates have me while he jerks off. He spikes my food and even drink, then f**k me till I am unconscious. Some days he treats me like he cares and most days he does the same evil to me repeatedly, yet I have been loyal to him but not anymore.” She tells me her story.
“Why have you decided to betray a man you have been loyal to for years?” I ask and she lets out a full lung of breath.
“A man who treats me like nothing but trash, doesn’t deserve to kill a man such as you.” She replies and I take out my gun again.
I move close to her and place the tip of the gun right on her exposed cleavage, her breath hitches in her throat as I move up the gun up until her temple.
“I have seen your pictures with Marino recently, he doesn’t keep me so close only, Aurelio can tell more than me. Based on the fact that he has your picture, you are his next target. In a few days he plans to lunch an attack on your family to take over this turf you own. I was only sent here so I could inform him about your whereabouts.”
“What are you going to tell him?”
**BACK TO REALITY**
Mike walks in after a knock and Joe places down the beer bottle in his hand.
“She is here.” He informs me and Joe fills his glass half-way.
“Let her in.” I reply without turning to face him.
From Joe’s reflection on the transparent glass, I can tell he is drinking already. More like he doesn’t want to get involved in whatever is going to happen in the next few minutes.
As soon as Mike leaves, the lady whose reflection I can’t believe it is actually her walks in. Turning in my swivel chair, I lock my eyes with Kiki’s and she has an extremely cold demeanor. I can’t seem to believe my eyes.
Is Mike playing some stupid prank on me? What’s Kiki doing appearing right in front of me like we ended things on a cool term?
“You seem too shocked.” She finally speaks and I clear my throat.
Can someone please explain what Kiki is doing here when I requested to see the new secretary that has been hired?
“Kiki, meet your new boss, Alejandro. Alejandro, meet your new secretary; Kiki. Since you two aren’t meeting each other for the first time, we will skip the formalities and jump right into the papers.” Mike says as if to answer my question and I turn to look at Joe, who only shrugs and continue drinking.
It seems like I am the one who was left in the dark. No one thought it nice to let me know she is back?
“Bring in the papers then.” I state coldly and she raises her head.
Mike drops the omerta contract on my desk and take out his pen. He hands it over to Kiki, who makes herself comfortable by taking her sit. She skims through the paper and move the pen to sign.
“I am glad you have no problem working with me, Boss.” She says with a smile and Joe raises his glass offering her some.
I hate the way she is cool with everything. It is like I no longer have an effect on her. It seems like she has no feelings left for me. I was the pathetic fool who held on to the tiny string that was left.
“I believe Mike has briefed you on everything you need to know. Mike, call in Bianca. Let’s map out our plans for tomorrow. We can’t afford to lose this mission.
“I will call my sister myself.” Joe replies instead and leaves.
Leaving me with just Mike and Kiki, who seems more comfortable than I ever imagined she would be when we finally meet again. I don’t know if she is acting, but I guess not. I am pretty good at reading people and right now I can tell she isn’t acting.
She is really done with me for real. She has forgotten all the promises between us. How strong our relationship used to be. It makes me feel like she doesn’t even know the real definition of love. The night I had myself buried inside of her again just one more time, I thought I could see through her.
“How have you been? Would you like a cup of coffee? We have a long night to plan out for tomorrow.” She asks and I sit properly.
“Yes, please.” As soon as she leaves, Mike raises his hands.
“What the actual f**k was that?” I ask and he smiles.
“You seem happier than angry.” He remarks.
No. I am not happy. Who the hell does she think she is?
“You said you no longer have any feelings for her. So, when she decided to return and you needed a trusted personal assassin, I felt like she is the perfect fit. You can be rest assured that she wouldn’t betray you. You two used to know each other. If you could work with Lucy, then why not her? Or are you scared that she might die in your stead?” He seems to have so many questions.
“Whatever you do is fine.” I reply and she knocks before walking in with a cup of coffee in her hand.
“I added no milk, I do not know if that’s how you still like your coffee. I can do a remake if it doesn’t suit your taste buds.” She tells me as Joe and Bianca walks in.
“What a reunion.” Bianca states as she moves to sit away from Mike.
They seem to have not settled their differences.
“Since we are not strangers, I believe we can start.” Bianca starts after a long silence and Mike places a map on my desk for all of us to see.
“The shipment would leave the warehouse at midnight and we are meant to make a move right now.” I begin.
“The shipments lands at midnight and the trucks will be out to transport them to Marino’s warehouse. All we have to do is change the shipping address and make sure to leave traces so we are tracked.” Kiki adds.
“I will deal with the changing of address. All I need is the accurate data.” Joe replies.
“I have sent it to you. However Alejandro got it. He got it.” Mike replies.
“If our goal is to be tracked that means we want them to make a move on us.” Bianca states and we all nod.
“Yes, but right before they make a move, we make our first move. They will take some hours to send some men after us but before they do so our men would have gotten to them. I was assigned to end Angelo Marino’s life, so I will be leaving with the men tonight. I will entrust the rest into your hands. If we want to be successful with this plans, then I and the men needs to leave now.” Kiki says and move out as Joe opens up his laptop to hack into the ports account.
What if things go south? What if she ends up getting killed? I will never be able to forgive myself.
“Mike, are you sure she can do this?” I ask and Bianca smirks.
“Who cares, many of our men have died while trying to make us succeed, so what if she dies.” Bianca pesters and I ball my hands into a fist on either sides of me.
“You might not know Kiki as much as I do. I watched her grow and you met her determined to find her mother which she eventually did. Trust kiki to come back with Angelo’s heart if that’s what you want. By the way, you shouldn’t care about her she is just like one your men.” Mike replies and I am tempted to knock him out but he is right.
As much as she doesn’t care about me, I shouldn’t too.
“We have our own hospital and we treat our men like we would treat one of us. By the way I wasn’t asking because I care about her. I just do not what this mission to flop. Let her know that no matter the number of people she kills she is to save Francesca.” I order and Bianca nods.
