It was the time of the day that the people in the town are waking up. Even the sun is still rising yonder the horizon. Abigail looks at the people that rush out of their houses. Some of them are not what she expected. Some are much taller than others and some are strangely shorter. Some have an overwhelming pale skin tone, some have unsettling pairs of eyes. Some are amusingly big and strong. Everyone was unique in some way, in her eyes right now, it’s all physical differences. She expected that there will be weird people in this world and even know what species some of them are. But, she never saw a collective of them in one place, with all of the variations of the existing races. “How… how did they able to co-exist in one place?” They started to walk into the place, “This is a new town, I can’t even say this is a town.” She looks at Lavena with confusion written on her face. “What do you mean? They are some sort of city? Is there something going underground?” Lavena shakes her head, disagreeing with her, “No. We will explain to you later. It’s a bit rude to talk about them in this public space, right?” Abigail doesn’t have any choice but to agree. Besides, every single one of the people that is already awake and welcomed them has their eyes peeled on them. They were gifted with smiles and polite greetings.
“It’s the heroes!” One of them shouted among the crowd and loud chattering. “They seem to have found the floral witch!” Abigail now knows why she gets a creepy feeling echoing through her body. The pairs of eyes that are looking at them are not just looking at them collectively, most of them are peeled at hers. She’s not new to a crowd of people. She has been to conventions and meet-ups. A crowd of people is not something she’s scared of. Although, there’s something in their looks that makes her spine shiver. She’s not nervous nor embarrassed at all. Rather, she’s confidently walking with the others. It’s just there’s something strange about their looks. She can’t say if it’s a good or bad thing. Her instinct is not kicking to just run out of here hastily. They all followed Catrina and Lavena as the latter approaches a certain individual.
“Mother Yvette!” She enthusiastically greeted a strange yet lovely woman. The said feminine figure has silver hair that fades into a white gradient. She’s notably tall, taller than Catrina which is the tallest of them all. She has beautiful and sparkly purple monolid eyes. She also has a pointy ear that sticks out in her straight and flowing hair. She’s wearing a rather fancy robe and is holding that iconic staff that Abigail has seen in a lot of media of entertainment. She smiles at Lavena with her thin pale lips, “Welcome back to Halvvilla, champions.” She looks over them, “The numbers are odd. It seems that you have brought someone along with your travels.” All of the members of the group look at Abigail. She smiles at the lady, “Greetings.” She bows her head at the lady. It’s not typical for her to bow before someone but she has the urge to do it. She feels she’s some sort of magical being that is the leader of this civilization that they have stumbled upon. The old lady also knows her companions and they might have a history with each other.
“She’s the witch that the people of Pacuvinium have told us, Mother Yvette. She’s also the witch that the dark wizard has been pertaining to us.” Mother Yvette approaches Abigail, the rest sets themselves aside to make way to the lady. She looks over her. Abigail feels so small in front of her. She’s like another meter or so from her. Her height is pretty average as a human and she never saw someone this so tall. She needs to look up to even just look at her face. She can only see her stomach when she doesn’t. “The Floral Witch…” Mother Yvette muttered to herself, “It’s a pleasure to meet you. What is the name that you behold?”
“I am Abigail—I mean, my name’s Crocus, the Floral Witch, at your service.” She smiles as the lady imposes a curious face towards her, “I see you rather diverted there. Is your identity really Crocus, if I am not mistaken?” Abigail awkwardly nods at her, “Yes! I am sorry for that. It’s been one whole day and night since my last sleep. You can say, my ability to speak is malfunctioning right now.” She covers her mouth a bit, she never pulled such a sophisticated manner of speaking. The lady’s energy radiates through her and it’s quite powerful that it influenced her in a matter of seconds.
The lady nods at her answer, she seems satisfied with her excuse. She doesn’t want to explain that she isn’t the witch to yet another person. It will cause discord upon their minds. Besides, she’s been the witch ever since she wake up in this world. It’s pretty dumb for her to deny it more. Because the more she denies it, the title of ‘Floral Witch’ pushes through in her identity more. She doesn’t have a choice but to accept it and embrace it fully. It might help her in the future as she travels in this world. She’s not hopeful that she will be getting out of here anytime soon.
“I have encountered few magical ladies with an extra word in their title. You have such unique abilities with flowers, am I right?” Abigail nods, “Yeah, they are my best suit. I use them in my potion and my magic is centered about them,” she whispers to herself, “if I am right…” Mother Yvette nods, “Such an interesting girl.” She switches the staff to her other hand to free her left hand. “You are in Halvvilla, home of lovely and free halflings. Where every halfling of every species is welcome. This is a small paradise away from the cruel world that is outside there. Fugitives of their own land are welcome here as well. Elves, ogres, gnomes, humans, merpeople, avians, and other species are all welcome.” She slowly walks towards their front while swinging and gesturing as she tells her speech. “Everyone who has suffered from discrimination is enjoying the lack of it here. Everyone who doesn’t have a home is sheltering here. And, you, like heroes, are welcome again in this place. Especially this lovely witch we have here now. I am sure the witch and wizards in this little town would love to interact with you and share what they know.” She raises her staff in the air like a string of magical streams shoots up in the sky. It explodes and rains down beautiful and sparkly white particles on them. The people clapped and cheer.
She looks at her people, “You can go to your businesses now. The sun is racing you through time. Haste and have a fruitful day.” She looks at the young heroes in front of her, “I will lead you to an inn where you can rest. A journey through the night without much sleep is not a good place to be. Follow me.” She smiles before she turns around to lead them into an inn that was much different than before. “This is looking slick, Mother Yvette! How long have we been out in this town? This sleeping home isn’t as big as this before!” The lady giggled, “This isn’t even the same one, dear Gallant. It has been in the works even before you first stayed a night in here. With the hardworking people I have and the continuous increase of population of this place, a lot of buildings have been built over the course of a month. There’s an increasing amount of half-elves in this place and it’s one of their species’ greatest abilities. Their handiness and craftsmanship really bring so many benefits, especially for a growing community.” They entered the inn and they were welcomed by a cheerful lady satyr.
“Welcome, Mother Yvette!” She looks at the people behind her, “Are they the heroes that you told us that stayed here before, Mother Yvette?” The lady giggles and nods, “Yes, they are Sieqa.” Sieqa gasps and squeals at the same time. She leaps a bit, making a sound on the wooden floor. “It’s a blessing to meet the heroes! I never met one before and…” She wipes the tear in her eyes, “I will meet all of them!” She claps as Mother Yvette giggles, “Such a cheerful little girl. Anyway, do you have 8 vacant rooms at most, Sieqa?” The cheerful satyr snaps out of her fangirl thoughts, “Oh! Yes, yes we do have 8 vacant rooms, Mother Yvette. Gladly, the travelers left last night so only 7 rooms are occupied right now.” She approach a rack and grabbed the keys to the said rooms. “Follow me!” She enthusiastically said with her squeaky and high-pitched voice. Her energy and cute outfit made Abigail smile, it reminds her of one of her friends that she met through her job. Although, it made part of her sad. She incredibly misses the real world. But, she kept a smile on her face. Besides, the attitude that Sieqa is showing to them is something to smile for.
“This is the key in this room, this one is in the next of it, this one, and this one, these three are here and the last one is up above.” She gave them the keys with the last one given to Abigail. “I shall escort you to the rooms above. Please follow me.” She smiles as she goes upstairs. Abigail looks at her companion as Lavena gestures her to go. It prompts her to follow Sieqa upstairs and leads her to a room. “This is your room!” She smiles, “I shall go now, please call me or Gyllnees if you need anything!” Sieqa leaves her be and returned to her station. Abigail looks at the door and takes a deep breath. She unlocks the door and enters the room. It’s a quaint little room. The bed is in the corner which has some sophisticated sculpting and a fluffy and warm custom-sewed blanket. There’s a work desk with a window on the wall that it's leaning into. It looks out on the other parts of the town. There’s also a wardrobe and cabinets across the beds. It has decent lighting with the small chandelier above and the window.
She settles on the bed and sets aside her baggage. Her eyelids are already falling off due to her tiredness. As soon as she lays on the bed and closed her eyes, she drifted into sleep rather quite fast. She didn’t even bother to tuck herself in the blanket nor remove her robes. She just laid there, soundly asleep.
Hours later, she heard a knock on her door. She was conscious and refuses to wake up. Although, the knocks kept coming. She just had to already wake up. She rises on the bed with a drowsy feeling and sleepy eyes. “Crocus? Are you still sleeping?” A voice was heard behind the door. She didn’t hesitate to answer, “I am awake now.” She yawns and approaches the door to open it. It reveals Keeana who is looking fresh. “You got a long sleep, Crocus! It’s already night. I decided myself wake you up since it’s been in the dawn since you have last eaten.” Abigail was quite surprised and even checked the window. The moonlight shines upon the clear glass to the desk. “It’s fine! I am sure that you aren’t as experienced in night traveling. Anyway, let’s go to the Thallases’ Tavern!”
The purple-haired girl looks at her with confusion, “The what now?” “Thallases’ Tavern! The rest of us are there already. I decided to go back and invite you in!”
