Abigail Abenson is a popular streamer, gaming content creator, and fan of an Indie-game called Faith & Fate. The game has been the soul of her channel ever since it released its early access up to the full-game development phase. The word Nightingale, her username, and Faith & Fate can never be inseparable. Even with the variety of games she played, she's still known for her Faith & Fate gameplay.

One day, she was lucky enough to get an interview with the developers of the game. They are known as The Gemini. It was the happiest day of her life. She got to meet the people that are behind the game that's been her identity for years. Little does she know it was also the day she will be dreading for the rest of her life. The interview didn't go well as she planned, well, at least for her.

Everything changed about her. She wakes up in a world that she's strongly familiar with. A world where she mostly spends her time as a coded player character. But now, she's one of its citizens, a non-playable character (NPC). She was not just a regular one, she was a witch, a Floral Witch. A fabled hero according to the game's lore.

How will she survive in this world that's under the hands and command of the people she used to look up to? Can her knowledge of the game help her at all? What mysteries will she be able to unravel? Is there something much more sinister behind these textured game assets and deeply coded characters?

Unbeknownst
“Delightful day to you my wonderful gails! Nightingail here and this… This is the day we’ve all been waiting for. Especially you, you there, watching this video.” A 24-year-old lady speaks enthusiastically in front of a camera. She’s sitting on the couch, casually waving and swaying her hand around. She has a tan complexion with short curly hair. The half top of it was a beautiful and shiny black color that fades into a beautiful pastel purple. “Speaking of you, have you subscribed yet? We aren’t starting this video without subscribing so hit that subscribe button right there. Down below.” She points both of her index fingers down on the ground. “Hit that like on your way there.” She chuckles, “Setting aside that shameless segue, I know you know what this video will be. It’s right in the title and thumbnail. Yes, you aren’t blind and hallucinating. I am here with the very developers of my most favorite game yet. Yes, you aren’t deaf and hallucinating again. All of the questions I told you to comment down back at the community post will be asked and answered. Everybody, behold, the proud developers of Faith & Fate, The Gemini!” Just across the couch, she’s sitting on was another couch with two men sitting on it. “Hello everyone.” One with his side-swept black hair and a nerdy look timidly said. “It is us, The Gemini. The twins.” Another continued, it has the same face as the latter one. The difference is that he has much messier and longer hair than the other one and a prominent shaved beard. “I am Julien Meadows, at your service.” The nerd one said. “My name’s Jonathan Meadows if you guys still don’t know who I am.” Nightingail chuckles, “I am happy to be with you today. Words can’t express the blissful feeling that’s conquering me just talking to you guys.” One of them chuckle, “I can tell that just from the call we had last Tuesday.” Nightingail laughs, “That’s quite embarrassing. Don’t expose me!” All of them laughed. “Fangirling aside, we can’t let our viewers wait. They all have been waiting for the interview. I know you guys have been featured in a lot of television shows. But, I guess they are just excited for my reactions.” She looks at the camera, “I know you all. I can see through you.” Then, an awkward silence ensued before the lady looks back at the two gentlemen across her. “Anyway, are you two ready for the questions.” Both of them nod and mutter their agreement, “I am excited. It feels like our first talk show.” The nerdy one said as all of them chuckled and giggled. “Well, these questions I am going to ask you are either questions that I thought of or my subscriber’s questions. Most of them are from the viewers. So, I am washing my hands for this. I am not at fault if it’s hard to answer these.” It followed a series of cackling and giggles. “We are ready.” “Yep, we are. We will answer everything the best that we can.” The two developers answered consecutively. “Alright, let’s hop on this roller coaster of questions. Bear in mind that I didn’t organize these perfectly before the interview so the questions might be out of place. We will be going to a lot of places.” She chuckled as the two men in front of her were up to that. “So, first question. This is kind of a bit silly. But, you guys are known to pull up pranks to your fans so who am I to blame for someone… even people to ask this.” She looks at them with her holding her laugh, “Are you two legitimate twins? Some people added another question which is if you guys are just one person that changes style.” The two smiled and alas, they can’t hold the giggle that they are trying to stop from escaping their mouths. “I understand why they are asking that. Most of the talk shows we were in gets it wrong that we are just sending representatives for us. So, it’s either Julien with one of our helpers or me with one of our helpers. Since even we are indie developers, we have gained a team over the past few months. It’s mostly Julien that attends these things. Even he looks like a nerd, I am the shyer one between us two. He is also the one who can explain much more effectively, efficiently, and much more understandable than me. I usually stutter on these things. I hope you can make me much professional in these videos but trust me, I am not.” The three of them let out some small giggles. “I can write much more professionally on emails and such. But, I am not as professional when it comes to speaking. Honestly, right now, I am even thinking my words and trying not to say something stupid. But, I’ll bet I will be in the rest of the video. I will see it when the video comes out if it ever will.” “So that explains why people are a bit suspicious about the previous interviews you were in.” Nightingail nods a bit. “Yes, besides, Jonathan is a busy busy man. Without his guidance, the whole team is just confused.” They all laugh. “The next question, can you make Prince Gallant a little less annoying?” Jonathan laughed, “Oh, I think you need to file that in the bug report.” The three had a good laugh again. “Joking aside. I know this is sarcasm and we are aware of the hate movement with that character. But, the game isn’t fully finished yet. The lore is. That hate movement of yours to him will be gone if we are finished with all of the characters in the game.” Nightingail nods, “Speaking of an update, what will be the next biggest update for the game?” Julien looks at Jonathan, “Well, it will be coming soon. Not really near but we are working on it. We are going to start on it as soon as we release our last update for the previous one. We are trying to be better every time we update something. And, the next biggest update of the game will have a new character on it. We’re still debating what character it will be.” “Could you make some revelations of what characters you are debating to release in this big game update? Or at least what will these characters be?” Julien looks at his twin brother, “Well, we are debating between three characters. A witch, another warrior, and a secret one that we’re not allowed to say. It’s a big spoiler for another part of the next big update. All of them can be released in the next updates. But, we need to settle for one to release in the next one since we can’t multitask things.” Nightingail laughs, “I understand that. All of them sound interesting. Especially the witch. Will it override the role of the alchemist in the game?” “No, of course not. Every character has their own unique things.” Jonathan answered. “But, there will be… intersecting abilities between the two. If you put it in that way. Although, we will avoid making players choose one from the other. There will come times that they will need both of them, in both of the canon story or just the player’s choice in their adventures.” Julien added. “We don’t want for them to have a big comparison. The witch may give more magical things than the alchemist. Which is either helpful or not in certain situations. The alchemist will not be left out if she was released. Besides, the new things that will be released in the next updates need the help of the three that we are debating to release first.” “Will it be the last one you mentioned?” Jonathan shrugs, “We don’t actually know. This thing we are planning is big. Making characters is easy for us but not this thing that we are talking about. We can actually release two characters in one update. But, we are thinking about that.” Julien nods, “We are consistent with bringing out characters one by one. And, we aren’t sure if we are going to chop this big update that we are going to have into manageable pieces or just a whole big update. Those two scenarios bring up different things. For the first one, we will be releasing characters one by one, as usual. The latter will open a different kind of update. We will add a lot of characters, even smaller ones that we usually do. That’s the scale of this update. We don’t know when will we release it. But, we aren’t promising for it to be sooner. Soon but not that sooner.” “That makes me excited. Three more characters and a massive update to the game.” She clapped silently in happiness with some small squeal coming out from her mouth. “Well, it’s really massive. While we are working on it, the updates for the game is dry as the desert. Most of it will just be bug-fixing and maybe some fixes in the characters in the game. Ever since that glitch in the servers of the game, a lot of bugs have shown in the characters.” “Oh right, it made the game in the headlines for like… a week or so…?” Jonathan laughs, “It’s funny since the news media is diving into the lore of the game. Although, spoiler alert, it’s not. We are confirming that those things have nothing to do with the lore of the game.” Nightingail became interested, “Are they one of your pranks again?” Julien shrugs, “Maybe…” She laughs, “I’ll take that as a yes. It was good since it shook the whole community.” Jonathan looks at Julien and awkwardly laughs, “Yes, it really shocked them. A lot of them made videos about the lore in just a millisecond there. But, I am sorry, it’s just nothing but a prank.” “But it’s fascinating that people really care about the story we are telling to them. Every nook and cranny of the game is checked thoroughly.” Nightingail smiles, “You made a wonderful game, The Gemini. You deserve everything that’s happening to you right now.” Both of the twin smiles. Julien looks at his watch as he looks at the lady in front of them. “Excuse me for a second, I need to drink my medicine now.” Nightingail nods, “Yes, sure. A break would be nice.” Julien nods, “Thank you.” He walked out of the room. The lady stands as she approached the camera and turns it off for a while. She fixed the area behind the camera and watched the footage for a while. She grabbed her water tumbler on a shelf. She took a sip as a voice emerges behind her. “Miss Abigail? Or… As known by people, Miss Nightingail?” She turns around and saw Jonathan, “Yes, Mister Meadows? Also, you can call me Abigail. No need for the formality.” She smiles as took another sip. “How many questions are left for you to ask? I need to take an estimated time. Since someone needs us later.” “Oh! Just another 20 minutes or so. Let me check.” She takes her phone and tries to read her notes. Her vision starts to get blurry. Her head starts to ache and the world around her starts to rotate. “Are you okay, Miss Abigail?” She looks at Jonathan, “Y-yes—” Before she can finish her sentence, she loses her balance. The man in front of her caught her in her fall. “You are clearly not.” He carried her to the couch and lays her there. Julien comes back to the room. “What’s happening?” He said as he approached Abigail. “She’s down.” Julien looks at her. In her vision, he pulled something on his pockets. He whispered to her, “Good night, Miss Nightingail. Sweet dreams.”
