"Step back, there are five enemies walking towards your direction." I heard Vlad say through my earpiece. He's one of my colleagues in the department and co-agent. He's inside our vehicle right now and facing the computer. He's too good to hack the CCTV's in the culprits building so that it's way easier for us to enter without being captured. He's guiding us where to go and find the leader.
I hide on one of the walls beside me and wait for the five men to pass through my direction.
If only I'll be the one to decide, I'll go face them and make their body shut. They're only five, I can fight against them. But then, it's a group mission. I can't disobey and put other members into danger.
"Anne, are you there? I'm going to enter one of the rooms here." Timothy said that made me roll my eyes.
The last time I'm with Timothy, our mission almost failed because of his clumsiness. I don't want to make it happen again. We're not here to face failures, but we're here to captured the beast. I can't afford to lose the streak we planned for a very long time because of one wrong move.
"Vlad, take a look for all rooms here. Tell us where the goons and leader are." I said and slowly walked towards the staircase.
From not so far, I saw Timothy on the side of a close room. He was wandering his eyes and then suddenly, he decided to twist the doorknob without my command.
"Tim, wait for Vlad and my command before you open that d*mn door." I said as I was suppressing my irritation.
He's merely doing such unmindful actions and decisions which leads us to danger. I hate it. He didn't even thinking better.
"But I think, there's nothing person in there. I will just go inside and see if there's evidence which we can use against them. Promise I'll be careful." Tim answered and just go with his decision, he twisted the doorknob and sneak into it.
"Tim, no! Get out of there. There are almost nine personnel inside the room that you wanted to enter." I heard Vlad said that makes me more irritated.
Tim's actions really making me pissed. He didn't listen to us.
Seconds after Vlad said those things, I heard a loud bang from the room where Timothy sneaked out. I quickly jumped down the staircase and hold my gun tightly.
"We're captured. Be more careful." I said to warn other members who were also inside the building.
I heard repeated gun shots that's why I make myself more careful with every action I will do.
I'm about to run beside a close room when a big guy saw me crossed and pointed me his gun.
"Give me that," he said, referring to the gun I've been holding. "Hands up!"
I smirked annoyingly.
I pretended to make my hands up and throw the gun towards him but what he doesn't know is that, I only use that as a tactic to make my move.
When he comes closer, I use it as a good point to switch our positions. I quickly jumped to the wall near me and hardly kicked his butt and nape. He didn't expect it, he almost choke his own blood because of pain.
I didn't think twice. When he pointed the gun in my direction, I also did the same thing and shoot his head.
"One vs. Zero," I whispered.
I didn't waste time. After I shoot that bastard, I quickly run towards the room from the corner of the ground floor. Earlier, when I was fighting the bastard, I saw their leader—the person we were looking for, running inside that room with his assistant. Maybe, they will try to run away but I won't let it. I can't let him escape again. Not this time and not anymore.
Without hesitation, I kicked the door in full-power for it to be open.
I have two guns in my hands, both pistols with a silencer. I pointed it to both sides and to where I think the culprits are.
The room was a bit darker. I can't easily determine where they'd go.
I slowly step forward while still sensing my surroundings. After three steps, I heard a low sound of footsteps behind me.
I stiffined and swallow hard.
"Game over." He whispered and get the guns from my hands. "Hands up!"
Instead of raising my hands, I just smiled and shook my head.
This man don't know he's talking to. He really don't know me.
I shook my head again.
"Shoot me now, coward!" I teased.
"Let me escape and I let you live longer." He said with a bit of shakiness in his voice. I can sense his nervousness and fear.
"You don't know whom you're talking to, Mister. I don't care if I won't live longer." I answered and smirked.
I am not afraid to die, what I'm worrying about is to make this mission fail.
"So, I guess there's no reason for me to spare your lives then."
I heard him chuckled but then, I still not afraid. He's nothing to be afraid of though.
"Go ahead! Shoot me!" I mocked.
As if I'm going to beg him to spare my life. I'll never do it. Never.
"Don't order me on what I'll do. No one ever commands me."
The ream of lights from the window are the only refulgence of the whole room. Because of it, I was able to clearly outseen the face of the bastard in front of me. I know and sure that he's terrifying of me.
"Tss...coward." I teased again to make him grit his teeth.
"I said, don't you ever command me—" He's about to shoot me with his gun but I quickly move at the side to ward off the bullet.
He tried to kick and shoot me. Gladly, I have such rapid-footedness that makes me defend myself from being shoot.
After so many times trying to shoot me, he stop because the gun's already have no bullet. He throw it away so I use it as chance to kick him from the back. After that, I quickly slide to the slippy floor to get my guns. When I reached it, I pointed it quickly to the bastard's direction.
"You shouldn't give me a chance." I mocked and then, slowly get up from the floor. Still pointing the guns on his head.
"Spare me." He begged but then I just smirked and pointed him the gun.
I slowly walked towards him to shakle his hands but he tried to beat me and snatch the guns from me in order to escape. Out of choices, I pointed the gun on him and undoubtedly shoot the side of his face.
"Ahhh!" He groaned while holding the side of his face where I was stricken.
While he's still in pain, I quickly pick up the handcuffs then, shackled it to his wrist and say the oath.
Mission # 21: Successful.
"Agent 604, congratulations for another job well done!" Our superior greeted as we enter our department.
"Thank you, Sir! We make it as a team."
He nodded and looked at my team before switching the glance on me.
"Follow me to the office, we have some important things to talk about." He said and left us.
With full confusion, I just followed what he said.
Vlad teased me before I go to our superior's office but I just don't mind it. I just continued to walk.
When I entered his office, I saw him sitting in his swivel chair while looking at the black envelope.
"Have a seat," he ordered.
"Is there something wrong, sir?"
He switched his glance and handed me the envelope.
"What is this for?" I confusedly asked.
"Open it."
Without hesitation, I open the envelope he handed me.
After opening, I saw the pictures of a man who I think in a late 40's. He has a lot of tattoos, from his jawline down to its chest. Also, his arms are full of tattoos.
"What is it, sir?" I asked, still confused.
"That's your next mission."
"W-what?"
I just thought that he will give me some time for vacation. I already talk to him before that I'll take some leave so that I can visit my parents, but what is this again? Gosh!
"I'll let you leave on work for a couple of months after this mission." He said, pointing on the envelope.
"But, sir—"
"Agent 604, are you disobeying my order?" He said in full authority and baritone voice.
I took a deep breath and nodded at the lack of choice.
He is our superior so, I have no right to disobey his orders. I know him too, when he gives orders we have nothing else to do but follow.
But it's just a little disappointing because I already told my parents that I will visit them this coming week.
"You don't have to worry. We will paid for all your expenses. We will also provide you with temporary accommodation in the Philippines while you are there."
I was surprised by what he said.
My mouth fell open a little and my eyes widened at what he said.
"Philippines?"
He nodded and then leaned back in his seat with his hands together.
"The man in the picture is a fugitive from our country. Some have said that he is currently hiding in the Philippines and is still doing illegal work. From one of our sources in the country, it is said that he runs a bar where there are pimped women."
"What do you want me to do then?"
"You will fly to the Philippines and you need to get some more information on who some of his accomplices are in that illegal activity," he explained.
I don't fully understand why I have to be the one to go there if there are agents in the country. It's a kind of absurd.
"You are the one I trust the most here in the department, so I know that you can do the mission that I will assign you well."
I had no choice so I just nodded. I cannot do anything about it. I have to do and finish the mission he gave me.
After that conversation, I only let out a long breath when I left the office.
I was born in the Philippines but it's been a few years since I last came home. I didn't memorize that place.
Today, my only reason for coming home is the mission assigned to me. I really hope I can finish it soon.
