CHAPTER THREE

THALIA’S POV I stood there, frozen at the altar as everyone evacuated the ceremony ground, one after the other, my heart throbbing really quickly in fear of what I had just stepped into. "Should I say congratulations, or a simple well done?" I heard Luna Marcella's voice sound from behind me with mockery. "Well, consider it that we helped you; you once desperately sought a way to escape the packhouse once you turned 18, now you have officially been freed from the ties that bind you to us, and you can never return, no matter what you face when you get to Alpha Tristan's pack," Lyra chuckled. My heart was shattered into a million pieces, anger and fear and uncertainty, all mixed into one emotion that made my head spin like I was going to collapse. Just then, Alpha Rafael himself started walking towards me, clapping his hands slowly. "So, this is how we separate, huh? After several years. Well, I won't hide the fact that I am going to miss punishing you, especially for things you didn't do," the Alpha said, and I gulped. "Now, hurry up," Luna Marcella said, and my attention was divided between her and Alpha Rafael. My heart raced in pain as I couldn't believe they'd go as far as to marry me off to someone like this for money. "I've already taken your things to the car, so you don't need to go back to your room to get anything," Luna Marcella said to me, sharing a knowing smile with her daughter, Lyra. Lyra’s face was full of joy as she clearly enjoyed the pain I was in. "Ahhem!!" Alpha Rafael cleared his throat as he stepped closer to me, placing a hand on my shoulder. "You won't be forgotten, my dear, not even if you end up dead by tomorrow. Your compliance has made this possible for us," he said mockingly, knowing I regretted accepting the marriage proposal. It wasn’t like I had a choice anyway. I had to choose between marrying the murderer or be starved to death in the dungeon by Alpha Rafael himself. Just as I stood there, drenched in fear and sorrow, I saw Lyra and Luna Marcella leave, and then, there was just Alpha Rafael and me. "You don't want to get your mate, Alpha Tristan angry. He is already in the car waiting; to avoid being strangled to death, try to do as he says. Good luck!" he said to my face with a smile and then walked away. A heart-wrenching pain filled me; I clasped onto my chest, my heart pounding in fear of what I had gotten into. Several thoughts of my possible end rushed through my mind, I imagined what he would do to me, especially since it seemed more like I was bought. I heard Alpha Rafael's warning, which came as advice to me, reminding me exactly how dangerous my mate was. I gulped as I walked towards the entrance, trying to steady my heartbeat. "Thalia, you're strong, don't let this situation devour you," Nova said in my head, and I gulped even harder. I crossed the threshold of the ceremony ground and exited. I was now walking through the corridors leading out of the packhouse. "Nova, you won't understand... This is the end for me, this is the end for us. We just got married to a monster, the monster, Alpha Tristan," I said to her in a faint whisper. As I walked out of the packhouse, glancing at its structure, I knew I was leaping from a frying pan into the surrounding fire. The Packhouse had been a nightmare, but I knew for a fact that no one in there was a murderer. My steps immediately faltered the moment I saw the expensive Rolls Royce parked in front of the gate to the packhouse, and I almost fell before gaining control again. I approached the car slowly, and a lump formed in my throat, making it really difficult to swallow or breathe. The hum of the car engine filled my ears, and then, I heard the sound of the car unlocking. Suddenly, I screamed in fear when a man with a bleeding face rolled out of the front seat and landed on his back. The man was not dead but it seemed like he was badly hurt. Alpha Tristan was on the driver's seat so he definitely was the one who pushed out the man who seemed like a member of his own pack. I hesitated to grab onto the handle of the car door to pull it open until I heard a strong male voice that sent shivers down my spine. "Get in," he said coldly, and I gulped. I was still wondering about what the man did to get hit by Alpha Tristan. Opening the door and settling into the seat beside the driver's seat, I slowly glanced at the fierce expression on his face. "You are just getting to know me, so you have an excuse for disobeying me in this case," he said, and I trembled slightly as his cold voice sent a tingling sensation down my spine. How did I disobey him, what was he talking about? I just got into his car, so I was sure I had not done anything wrong yet. "Just so you know, I don't tolerate any form of lateness. Overall disobedience can attract dire consequences," he said with a slow and calm voice and I gulped. While he spoke, he didn't even look at me; he only stared straight at the windscreen of the car, his hands tightening around the steering wheel. I couldn't believe I was sitting in the same car with a killer wolf. I remained quiet in fear after listening to him. I thought I was meant to act dumb to whatever he said until I heard his voice again. "Dalia, are you going to let me repeat myself before you give me a response?" He said, and I shook my head quickly, signaling that was never my plan. "It-It's Thalia...N-not Dalia," I murmured and he clenched his jaw. "Do I look like I give a f*ck??" He said through clenched teeth and an even bigger lump formed instantly around my throat. "What do you have to say about what I just said?" He said, turning to me for the first time since I stepped into his car. Oh my God, his eyes... They were out of this world, making me lose my eyes in them, tracing the dark brown eyes. But then, he was no ordinary man; he was Alpha Tristan. I just wished his good looks were taken away and replaced by a more monstrous look so I knew I was married to a devil. "I- I won't disobey you next time," I said, slowly with a shaky voice, and he remained still for a while before giving a nod. We took off after he started the car. It was a long ride, since his pack was located outside of town. It felt like a 2-hour drive before he pulled up in a massive garage in a building that was completely extravagant. "Get out, make sure you get to the bedroom and wait for me," he said in a deep rough tone, showing no regard for me as his mate. His arrogance was the least of my worries then, as I thought about why he asked me to go to the bedroom and wait.
