Are You My Mate?

Chapter 30

   *  I wake up when I feel something rub against my cheek. "I didn't mean to wake you, Rina just told me that you wanted to see me'' says Kavik when I sit up. (I feel like a queen that summoned a soldier by the way he's speaking)

 I'm in his territory and he saved me, so I should be acting that way not him. ''I just wanted to thank you for helping me" I say as I grab one of his large hands to hold in both of mine. I also look into his eyes so that he can see my sincerity. 

"You're welcome Denai," I'm surprised that he says my name correctly. (The first time) "I'm sorry I mispronounced your name before" I say as I look at the floor and then back to his eyes. 

I still can't believe I got his name wrong. (I'm usually good with names since mine is unique) I guess I was still hoping that some miracle would happen so that Dean and I would be able to be together. "It's fine, you know how to say it now, right'' he says with a friendly smile. 

I feel like he sees me as a pup, by the way he is looking at me. (Could he see me as a fragile pup?) (Is that why he helped me?) I'm sure he's not much older than me, but he does look like he's been through a lot. Even with his smile, there is still a sadness in his eyes. (Maybe I can help him fix it, to repay him for helping me)

"Yes... it's Kavik" "Yep, Kavik" he says and I realize that now he's holding my hands in both of his. (How did that happen?) "So how are you feeling, are you hungry?" he asks as I look at our hands, still wondering how he did it.

 "I'm doing okay I guess and I ate before my bath and then I took a nap" I blab out as I think of a way to get my hand back. (Would it be rude to just pull them back?) (They do belong to me after all)

"Sorry" he says as he slowly releases my hand. (I guess he felt how uncomfortable I was) I don't say anything, I only look at the shirt that I'm wearing as I pull at the bottom of it. "Okay, well I'll have someone check on you later, to see if you're hungry" he says as he walks over to a big closet.

"And... you can always come to me if you need someone to talk too" he adds as he turns to look at me. "Thank you" I whisper. 

"I'm sorry, I didn't know that this was your room" I say as I see him pull out a few suits to lay out on the bed then he hangs all but one back in the closet. That was fast maybe he was looking for a specific suit, because it usually takes me a while to find something to wear.

 "I brought you here" "Oh yeah" I say with an embarrassed smile. "So you don't have a problem with me wearing your clothes?" I ask as I look at the shorts, that are in fact boxers. (Maybe the older lady didn't knw that there is a difference) 

"Of course not," "You look way better wearing them than I ever could," he says as he checks his suit. "They fit you better and you are quite handsome, so I doubt that" I say shyly. His smiles with a raised eyebrow. (Was I was being too flirty?) (I was just being truthful) 

"Why thank you" I avoid his eyes embarrassed and I don't say anything. I still belong to Dean and he belongs to me, so I would never want him to find out that I called another guy handsome. (I don't even want to think of what he would do either to me or to Kavik) 

I'm sure I don't have to tell him, he probably knows the whole story and he knows I'm off limits. "Did you tell her about me?" I ask, figuring that was why she was overly nice. (She was probably so patient because felt bad for me) 

It's embarrassing to think that I'm the other woman, even though, he's my mate and we want to be together. "Who?" he asks. "Your housekeeper'' (She's the only person that I've seen besides you Mr. Mountain man) Is what I want to say but I don't. 

He smiles. "She's my aunt," "My dads sister and her name is Rina" "Oh, I'm so sorry" "You're fine," "I trust her, so I have her to make sure that you're good and taken care of you" "It's up to you if you want to tell her what happened, but I did tell one person" he says as he walks towards me. after taking a small suitcase out of his closet. 

"Your Beta?" "Yeah... how did you know?" he asks with a surprised smile. (He is handsome, but I could never tell him that) I'm hoping that Dean will fix this or he'll miss me so much that he'll be willing to run away with me. I guess I did say that I would give him a year. 

(This is going to feel like forever) Maybe I'll start with half a year, then I'll link him to know if he still needs more time. (Hopefully I'm strong enough to resist him if he tells me to come home) 

"Alphas have to trust there Betas with everything" he nods. "True" "His name is Jefferson and you'll see him later, maybe at dinner time, if we can get back in time" he says as he goes back to filling up his suitcase.

"Can't I just eat here or wherever you're going to move me?" "I don't really want to be around a lot of people right now" "Of course, if you want I'll have my Aunt Rina to eat with you" 

"If she doesn't mind" "I don't really know anyone and I don't want to be a burden" I say as I avoid his eyes again. "You're fine, she would love to" "She wouldn't stop talking about how sweet you are and how polite you are" "You made me and Jefferson look bad in her eyes" 

I smile because I also feel a little close to her. "She said that we didn't have any home training," "Whatever that means" he says as he shrugs. I laugh because I can imagine how he looked. "Oh... so it's funny that I got put in the hot seat?" he says with a small smile.

 "It's just that I can see her getting on to you and your Beta" "I haven't seen your Beta but the thought is hilarious, because she's so small and you're so tall" I say as I smile. He doesn't say anything, he only looks at me as if I'm a pup again. 

"Uh, I'm leaving to go to a pack nearby but I'll be back by nightfall and if not then I'll be back tomorrow morning" "You're leaving today?" "Yes, to get it out of the way, so that I can get back to my pack" 

"And your Luna?" "I don't have one" "You haven't found her yet?'' "I... uh" We're interrupted by a knock on the door. "I'll be out in a minute" he says when the door opens. "It's just me, I wanted to see if she wanted to go for a little walk, before lunch" says Rina as she walks in.

"I would love to on another day, but right now, I just want to stay here in bed" She nods and rubs my back. "I'll get up to eat dinner, but I don't want anyone to see me" "Are you hiding from someone?" she asks worried.

 "Rina," he says as he shakes his head. "I'm sorry for meddling sweetie" she says as she rubs my back. "It's fine, I'll explain everything to you later, but I don't think that I am strong enough to do it now" I say as I give her a small friendly smile.

 "Well, let me know if you need anything and hopefully I'll be back before dark" "Alpha Memok talks a lot" he says with a small smirk causing Rina to giggle. I smile as I wave goodbye. (I didn't know what else to do)
